I dislike bioshock, the graphics are iffy, and the story line makes my brain hurt, but the worst for me is the gameplay, the majority of the time, your just hitting things with a wrench.

Demon's Souls. Right when I first started playing it, I was expecting it to be some crazy hard, amazing RPG based on what everyone was saying. When I finished it all I saw was a mildly challenging, average RPG. It was good and slightly difficult, but not as good or crazy hard as everyone makes it out to be.

Halo 1 was so boring, I couldn't finish it. Twice I played through the campaign (starting where I left off) and twice I gave up because of boredom. Halo 3 is said to have the best multiplayer on the XBox, but I can't stand it. If you don't play with someone close to your skill, you aren't going to do anything but die. Their health will be fully recharged by the time you get back to them, so you better hope that another player kept their health down or else you are screwed. Only thing I ever did decent with was the sword, until someone got a shotgun and killed me once, then I could never find the sword again because I was almost always dead before I even left the room, and this is just in a 3 person local battle. I can't imagine how short your lives would be in 16 people fights.

I tried playing HL2, I really did. But it joined Halo in the league of games too boring to even play. I couldn't force myself to play it for an hour.
On the upside, at least I was able to plow through Portal. Portal is decent, but WAY OVERRATED. A 2 hour game (according to Steam, It only took me 2 hours to beat it on my first time through) with 0 replay value is far from perfection, it is a tech demo and nothing else.

I think? Around where I live, people don't shut up about it and label it game of the year. It gets constant praise on the internet as well.

Huh...then again, I do live in a British town where there are probably the fewest PS3s of any console. The 360 is king here.

Can't get into Shadow of the Colossus, I think the controls and camera are awfu, also the games FPS drops really low quite often.

The Orange Box entirely, maybe one day i'll force myself through Portal.

Fable Series - I want my money back for Fable II, the game had absolutely no focal point.

Tomb Raider - Well I understand why it's popular but it's still disappointing.

Wii Fit - Its sold like 20million copies? wtf

Ubisoft Wii Shovelware - They must be making money off it because they keep releasing it ><

It's gotta be Halo for me. not just Halo, but 2, 3 and all the spin offs. I just can't see what is so popular about it, but then again, 13 year olds are attracted by bright colours, hence the most retarded armor in the history of the military was born.
Since when has green NOT been the standard colour of military uniforms? (most camouflage is green, since most places have green environments, including Halo)
Personally I don't understand how people like CoD. The games have been getting progressively worse since CoD 3, yet are selling progressively more.
Well I dunno about you, but I've never seen a military outside of halo intent on making their soldiers walk disco balls. Seriously, why the hell is it so shiny? and orange isn't the most subdued colour, either especially when it fuckin' fluroescent. XP

I've never been on the CoD ship either really, so dan't just asume I am because I hate Halo, tho I think you're stretching the truth a bit there. Even tho I don't really like CoD, I'll still agree that Modern Warfare was pretty awesome. World at War was alright and MW2 was cool, but I reckon the quality kind of dipped a bit after MW and just stayed at that level.

Or maybe they just like the series. Seriously, can't people have an opinion?

And no, I'm not a Halo fanboy, I hate shooters.
Lol I'm not quite sure what you're getting at there. If I didn't think people were allowed to have opinions, then I wouldn't have written what I said. After all, that's an opinion and I will always respect an opinion, no matter what I think of it.

Generalizing much? I hate bright colours, I'm 14.
OT: 'part from the usuals e.g. Halo, MW2 the MDK games were so crap...
I even remember using the arrows not the analog and WTF?
lol now now, pish posh. I specifically said 13 year olds, not 14. I'm sure that'll clear it up, especially since I bet you know at least one 13 Y.O. who gets hypnotised by the flashing lights and shiny opjects, which is also why they keep being exploded by plasma grenages. XP

Haha, nobody likes Fable.
I suppose any games that are clearly made and designed solely for leeching money from gullable audiences. Games like Halo ODST and Modern Warfare 2.
Sure Halo for the Xbox was decent enough, but only got worse with age. And I loved Modern Warfare, but it didn't need a sequel, and it's clearly been made with a massive nod to the Xbox-Live troll audience- and not only because of the narrative.

That's my opinion of course, and I suppose if marketing to sheep didn't work then marketing wouldn't be quite so profitable, would it?

I agree. Halo was fun to play, and i even got into 2 a little bit. But the fangirls were like the Twilight fans. Maybe worse. I also agree with the whole age thing. There's nothing more rewarding to a kid than to feel like an adult, and nothing makes that happen more than 'violence you're not supposed to see' type of games and shooters. Its hard to say a system is not 'kiddy' when they appeal exactly to childlike minds. However, I'm gonna have to go with WoW. mah-mor-pah-gers are like giant graphical chatrooms, with the actual 'game' part just a way to say 'hey, i'm better than you.' It's not to say it isn't fun, as i'm sure it is, but the popularity is nutz.
Holy crap, how that hell did that one not explode into the forefront of my mind when I first wrote?! I'm honestly flabberghasted at the popularity of games like WoW and Second Life. If nothing else, it's simply an unprecedented achievement of gaming addiction.

Final Fantasy. I expect a rage torrent from fanboys, but I could never immerse myself in turn based strategies, and it seems like the stereotypical one. I did try playing several of them, from the really old to some of the more recent ones, but none drew me in.

Hence the joygasm over Sephiroth is something I could never understand.

Halo, returned the first game for the pc after playing for like 1-2 hours and only played Halo 3 co-op with a friend when I just got my xbox360
Half Life 2, got bored in the first hour or so where all I did was run away.
Oblivion, completed the story line and some side-quests but can't see how people can put like 100+ hours into this.
Fallout 3, oblivion with guns.
Modern Warfare 2, generic shooter.
Bad Company 2, generic shooter.

Probably more, but those are all I can think of right now.
Insert Fanboyrage here <-- Also to say ehm.. Do you play games for 1-2 hours and return them because you lent them or because you were not amused? Not to judge too harshly but it just seems like an awfull waste of time and money to buy games to throw them away.

Anyway to the topic at hand i believe that Starcraft.. Sorry, Startcraft 2. Is seriously overrated. I cant understand whats so special about it. Seems so much like something you've seen before with different maps and slightly better graphics. Not to mention the huge ammount of cash you have to give in to play it. Not counting DLC.

Assasins Creed 2. There, i said it. Multiplayer is gonna be good. If not stepping a little on "the ship" that is.

And here we have the logic behind gray and brown games.

For me, BioShock. It just was bad. Like, -9001/10 bad.
not now, don't just stereotype me because I find Halo to be nauseating. I'm not much of a fan of the CoD series, or many other similar games. I just really prefer games that push the envelope, at least just a little bit. I won't deny that the first Halo brought some excellent idea to the shooter table, albiet wrapped in a big ball of run of the mill weapons and mediocre gunplay, but I'd rather play something that isn't afraid to take some forward strides, and Halo has been side stepping since the series started. I enjoyed Mirrors Edge, despite it's wonky arse controls and wierd difficulty curve, but Halo just doesn't stimulate anything within my mind.

I was going to say Final Fantasy but everyone has already said that... even before this particular thread actually.

In that case Modern Warfare. Oh sure the single player is fun but it's short and multiplayer is inhabited by the embodiment of everything that's wrong with young people.
