No, it doesn't matter to me, I think some posters with high post count get some sort of power trip and ego boost just cause they have a high post count. I think that forums would be a much better place if there was no post count, that way everyone's opinion would be heard equally. It would make pople only really look at the quality of the post and not who posted it.

oh and your poll choices are stupid so I did not vote

I've seen people with two posts to their names type out truly intelligent comments and arguements and i've seen people in the "gone gonzo" catergory type utterly ridiculous tripe.

So, do I pay attention to post counts?

No. If a person is intelligent and capable of writing something interesting I pay attention to that.

No, that'd be dumb. And Indigo_Dingo isn't here any more... You should have said MaxTheReaper.
I actually chose him with a touch of irony... as we all know, he didn't have the most balanced of opinions.
I feel somewhat stupid for not actually seeing that...

No. People can act like idiots, or say something intelligent, completely independantly from a number saying how many times they have done so.

Just look at the ban of Indigo Dingo. It was caused by him having all those thousands of posts of being a complete arse to people.

On the other side, I've seen people with 2 or 3 posts saying something really worthwhile that was quoted for ages after because it pretty much summed up the answer to the thread.

Also, I refuse to vote in that poll, it's absolutely useless.

That would be a pretty awesome badge. If the mods find someone who says something just awesome, they could hand them that badge.

If a paperboy is being a dick on the forums I may give him some harsh words to help him realise the escapist is not like the other forums.
If anyone else is being a dick they simply get the harsh words.

Certainly not. Therumancer has about a quarter my post count and has been here longer, and I consider him to be one of the wisest and most interesting posters here.

So no, you could have posted 3000 posts of 'lol so true!' for all I know.
lol so true!

sorry. couldn't resist

Bo...but
I tend to stay away from the people that have been on a month and have 2000 posts. Because I view them as wierd twitchy people who probably foam at the mouth while typing.

I always try to be dull.
Sometimes it doesn't work.
But when it does, it's usually for the better (or at least neutral).

I don't go by post counts. They could have gotten their high post counts from anywhere. I mean, I have near 10,000 posts, but most of it is from the RP forum, which does not necessarily translate to intelligence. And Indigo had 10,000+, but most of it was endlessly praising the PS3 or endlessly bashing the 360 at any given chance. On the other hand, I've seen on more than one occassion a person enter a topic and put up a 5 paragraph post outlining their position on the debate and the reasons for it, with perfect spelling and grammar, with a post count of 1. tl;dr, no, that would be stupid. And I am not stupid.

I used to be a regular on the GameTrailers forums and there everyone goes by postcount (it's like 4chan in there!) and so when deciding to join the Escapist community I was worried that my posts might not hold that much weight because I'm an Escapist forum n00b, but as it turns out the Escapist forums are fantastic! And nobody judges me by post count. So this is a nay from me and a thank you to all you decent gaming forums lovers :)

I agree with this. I'm typically a lot more wary of people who've gone gonzo within their first month.

Nope. There are certain members that may be more well known, but that doesn't make them higher up.

The one exception is Max, and that's less because he has a shit-ton of posts and more because we fear... er... respect him.

EDIT: Oh, and even if people did, they wouldn't see Dingo as the best... he's permabanned. Can't respect what ain't there.
