The Asura and Sylvari are part of the game on launch, their starter cities just weren't finished yet for this beta weekend.
As for the OP's questions:
-The Tengu will most likely be the next playable race, judging from small hints they dropped in the dialogues you can have with some of the birdmen.
-The next expansion will most likely cover a new continent, and if they value continuity, it'll be Cantha (the Asian-style continent).
-AFAIK they won't add new classes because it would imbalance PvP. They might however add a couple of weapons.
-The Cash shop is purely for cosmetic items and XP boosts. None of the sold items directly make you stronger, and every item can be bought with ingame gold by trading it for Gems, the shop's currency.

So why was I quoted at all? I'm being serious, why was I quoted at all here. I sayed very similar things so I'm confused.
I've got no problem with the Tengu per-se, I'd just prefer something original. Despite the insane amounts of uninformed petty hate (colored by homophobia commonly enough) that my poll generated, I love the Sylvari. And all of the original species they've decided to people Tyria with TBH.
And as such I'd like to see more of them as opposed to revisiting an old flame like the bird-men/women. And a species of abyssal merfolk would definitely be breaking new ground.
You've played it for 5 mins, watched some videos and described it as GW 1 with racial options and better combat you'll have to forgive people for thinking that given that GW 2 looks pretty far removed from GW 1 in a lot of ways.
Having an opinion is fine. It doesn't matter if you don't like it.
Saying it's the same as GW1 isn't an opinion, it's a baffling wad of misinformation.
GW1 doesn't have a persistent world. It doesn't have dynamic events. It doesn't have the ability to instantly make a character that you can take into PvP. It doesn't have 3-faction PvP that pits servers against each other. It doesn't have dodging. It doesn't have combat that emphasizes adaptation over planning. It doesn't have the downed state. It doesn't have a branching personal story. I could continue, but I really feel I've said enough.

What you've said makes me curious: can you think of any game that has playable bird-people? I can't. (Not counting turians.) I'm genuinely asking.
I've seen plenty of enemy bird-people races, but I've also seen plenty of enemy merfolk (as well as some playable merfolk in Perfect World).
I really like the idea of playable bird people, where the males are more colorful than the females. It's an interesting kind of sexual dimorphism that people don't usually use in games, and ArenaNet has already shown that they enjoy playing around with sexual dimorphism. Plus, the tengu just look awesome in GW2. I wouldn't mind playing one.
You need to make a PvE character in GW1 before you can make a PvP character. Which isn't the case with GW2; one character can play both, and you don't need to unlock anything.
I've got no idea about GW lore, never played the first one... but GW2 is looking like it'll be damn good, might give it a go even though I said I'd never pick up an MMO again...

Actually, the combat is real time and you can dodge attacks and such. As well, combos are present. Arenanet doesn't support grind. Even guild wars 1 was grind free. People farmed, but farming isn't grinding.
I don't mind constructive criticism at all and at any time, but quite frankly, you're talking out of your arse. No one asked you to post here, so even if you're not done writing your backward wank, get out of the thread.

To the first: no, I'm drawing a blank. I'm not thinking too hard on the topic, but no, I can't name one.
To the second: fair point. But considering merfolk are anthropomorphized... well anything aquatic really, there's alot of room for variation.
And to the third: I'll concede the point that the idea of peacock-men sounds pretty fun. In a campy, silly sorta way. (And yes, I know there are alot of birds with ostentatious looking males and drab looking females, but that's the most iconic one.)
P.S: Can everyone please stop engaging the guy whose only coherent thought has been: "unproductive short sighted resentment (I'm paraphrasing)"? Pretty please? For me? I don't want my thread to get cluttered up with an argument that can be parsed as such:
Angry Guy: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Fan: Thoughtful discouse
Angry Guy: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Fan: Confusion, mild resentment
Angry Guy: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
It takes one post to tell everyone you think something sucks and is stupid. Not 7. And anybody who can't spare 10 minutes to learn about a subject but can *always* take 45 seconds to be a dismissive prick online isn't going to be swayed by any amount of logic/wit/evidence.
Well they already have 1 with various other races and the sea/fresh water thing could be dealt with by using different apparatus for the creatures. 2 will probably happen with expansions and 3 is less likely to come soon given the reason why Cantha is inaccessible. To be honest I'd say Elona will be next since you can walk to Elona from Tyria and then Cantha will be after that. There is still the Monastary off the coast of the mainland.
It being a playable race was the key thing, and I doubt they'll ever spontaneously "promote" one of the minor races considering how they fit into the grander framework of the game. And c'mon, tell me a deep sea themed player race wouldn't be fun. Take a look at a picture of *any* bio-luminescent fish and imagine how cool it would look anthropomorphized.
