Ooh, I forgot one. I used to work at an office supply store, in the electronics department. One night, I was the only one working the department and I heard "Machines help to aisle 3." So I head over to aisle 3 and see a guy looking at a double-layer DVD burner. I walk up to him and say "Hi, can I help you?" "Oh, no, I'm waiting for the electronics guy." "Well...I'm the electronics sales associate, sir." "...you're a girl." "Yes, sir." "Girls don't know anything about computers! Get me a guy." At this point I wanted to murder him, but I just said "I'm the only one working the department tonight, sir." He proceeded to quiz me on my technical knowledge, then asked me a million questions about the burner...and then didn't buy anything anyway.

Encounters like that are probably where I got the patience that I need in my current tech support job.

Yeah, XBox Live. I get called a fag and homo all the time...but my favorite thing is responding "Yes, I DO like guys. I'm a girl." The few seconds of silence I get afterward are so sweet.

But yeah, I'm American, but I look stereotypically Irish. I studied abroad in London once and nearly got run over by someone in a car screaming "BLEEDIN' MICK!" People always thought I was Irish until they heard me speak...then it was always a toss-up on whether they'd become more or less interested. I also have French blood, so I get made fun of for that because of the whole Iraq war debacle. I don't blame the French for saying no. I was saying no too.

I'm also a big gay rights advocate, and I get accused of being gay all the time. And yes, I mean accused, like it's a crime. I can't stand people like that.
i dont see why gay rights adbocates get that treatment. my way of thinking is, if you choose to live that way, then do it, why should any small minded jackass stop you.

What a dumbass! I would love to finally meet a girl that knows at least a little bit about computers. Hell, I hope I find a girl that can repair my pc when I fuck up again.

I've mostly managed to avoid prejudice over the years by just not rally being social, people around here are practically raised to be dicks.
But some people would be ever so slightly educated enough to realize that my nose is very "French-looking".
It would take them a minute but eventually their single functioning brain cell would come together to process an insult for me, as well as comment on my complexion.

Yes, I got called a Jewish suicide bomber because I had a beard and a backpack.

I've also been called a racist by some black people because I had my head shaved, (which was funny because one of them also have a shaved head, so they were judging me on my skin colour), then later that night a Russian woman accused me of stealing some tiles form off of her roof, just because I "looked like the sort".

I also suspect I get secretly prejudged quite a lot of my time because of my build, or as one of my friends put it, "It's because you look like a hench scary evil wrestler ************".

I think that's more hazardous stupidity than prejudice. But yes, because my girlfriend is Scottish I occasionally get mocked by them for my pronunciation.

I want you to think about that for a second: Scottish people, mocking an English person, for their pronunciation of English words. It's as stupid as it sounds.
EDIT:

Well, other than the occasional "English bastard", "Go home", and violence which used to be directed towards me, no. It's not always pleasant sounding English in Scotland.
It appears I've been partially ninja'd.
Yea disregard the years of anti-Scottish prejudice to the extent of trying to drive out the native language and it does seem a bit stupid.

Yes there is prejudice in Scotland towards the English but I would argue you get off relatively lightly compared to a Scot south of the border, at least we honour your currency.
Yes but that's the thing: I'm an 18 year old guy who's been born into the 21st century...I haven't done anything to any group of people. And the people I'm talking about here are around the age of 16. Politics comes nowhere into it.

Have you ever been exposed to prejudice? Why?
For some reason, every time I'm in America people keep asking me if I'm a nazi. Just because I'm German.
Yeah, I got called a nazi because I'm half German pretty much the entirety of my life. Early on it was hurtful, now I see it as joke. No matter how many times I told my college/uni mate's that I was born in England, they thought I was German. It's a shame I'm not.

In fairness to the currency thing, there are a few different types of currency used in Scotland. I can pull notes out my wallet and have a few different designs. So the confusion could be understood. But in Scotland, there is a genuine hatred of the English among some. My family have experienced it. I was personally bullied for many years growing up because of an English accent, my father has been threatened with violence, and my mother constantly hears comments about coming up here and stealing jobs. I know it's a minority, but it's still pretty unpleasant sometimes.
In regard to currency I work in a supermarket in Scotland (currently anyway) and we are expected to accept Scottish, English and northern Irish bank notes, there are a handful of checks we perform at the till and that's it. Confusion is no excuse for going against something that exists in the acts of union.

I am sorry about the unpleasantness but at least you are aware its a minority, just like the abuse I get when I am in England is the work of a minority.

Apparently I'm gay because I don't like football. I live in Texas, and American Football is a huge deal here.
I'm in Texas and American Football sucks.

Real football is where its at. That and rugby.

OT:

A couple of conservatives at my high school called me gay because I participated in a pro-LGBT event (Day of Silence), and a few people dislike me because I am a Socialist agnostic, but that is a very small number of people.

People sometimes ask me if I'm rich, just because I'm a lord. How very prejudiced eh?

Also, there's the whole "being a Jew" thing. Yeah, I don't help much by being mean with money.

Many people at my college style themselves as some kind of atheist, so whenever someone finally notices I wear a cross around my neck I always get the third degree about how I'm some ass-backward bigot who wants to force them to convert to my religion. I'd see here they were coming from, if I mentioned my religion every damn second and if I wasn't as libertarian as I am. I'm instead told how bigoted I am while they discuss ways to remove religion from society for no reason other than their dislike of it. Bigotry is the greatest hypocrisy.

Probably the worst was when I told this girl a had a class with that I was gay. Upon hearing this she immediately started treating me like some reality TV stereotype.

sorry for being off-topic but many people participated in this event at my high school and well its very counter productive, the people who participate get called fag and cant get in a word or explain how there is nothing wrong with being gay, people just see it as a bunch of weird kids putting tape over their mouth, if anything you need to be more vocal not quieter, well thats just how i saw it, and yah rugby is the shit
