The main problem I have, now that I'm considering getting a system, is that games that come out for both XBox and PS3 always seem to be better on the XBox (according to reviews). It might be an issue with the framerate (often) or DLC, but games that should be identical always seem to be a little better on the 360.
Some of that has to do with EA, but for the most part I agree, for the PS3 to reach full potential, it needs more exclusive titles
Although I hate it when games turn out to be exclusive titles, you're right. After I found out that LBP didn't come out for the 360 nor the PC, I died a little inside and wanted a PS3. That's some good marketing.
Very true - I do wonder if LBP is as good as they say in ponder getting a PS3 to replace my XBox 360, but the way I see it, I already have alot of XBox games, both produce enough heat to heat my room BETTER THAN MY RADIATOR, and both are very similar. Plus, I find Japanese RPGs and games in general to be tedious movies as opposed to games (my own view), and most PS3 only games are Japanese in origin at least (Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid).

But one thing I have noticed are Xbox 'exclusives' end up porting onto other platforms over time (Mass Effect, for example).

Personally, I think that its better to port games out to other platforms (when possible - for example, the Wii hardware has large differences in performance and input to other platforms). Exclusives, whilst they can improve sales of one platform, will hurt gaming overall.

Some people can afford all 3 consoles and a PC, but I doubt the majority do. (I could in theory afford it but it seems like a waste to buy a Wii and PS3).

Whilst I can understand LittleBigPlanet is a Sony owned product, I would have personally thought they could make more money and spread the risk out by branching out onto other platforms after, say, a year. Same with Halo for Microsoft.
The problem is that the reason that LittleBigPlanet isn't going to the 360 isn't because Sony are hogging it - according to Media Molecule, they literally cannot do it. The game requires a full Blu-Ray disc and a Hard Drive as standard.
They could always start developing a port specially made for the 360. Just because it is made for Blue-Ray doesn't mean that is impossible, it just means it would take them longer to port it to another system.
And that it would have much less content, and be far less versatile for the actual create component, which would get rid of the games whole point.
Really? I see... well, I'm surprised it needs a full Blu-Ray disc for what does boil down to a platformer in the end... Although maybe its all the graphical and sound data, both of which are know to be resource hogs...

How about a PC port at least then?

Uncompressed sound requires by far the most space out of just about any game: textures, physics properties and models take relatively little compared to it. Eurogamer tells that most of the disc space is taken by tutorials, which pretty much says that Stephen Fry and the soundtracks are the biggest eaters of space.

Concessions would need to be made of course, but I don't really believe that a hypothetical 360 version would be "far less versatile" or "vastly inferior" in general either. Especially now that the 360 lets you install games on it.

But a 360 port would never happen since Sony owns LittleBigPlanet. It would be like expecting Gears of War or Halo on the PS3.

Except the story links to an interview of Alex Evans and he's implying the same thing.

Also, there are games on the 360 that do require the HDD, FFXI for instance. Making an exception with LBP wouldn't be hard, especially since you can justify its need for a HDD the same way you can with MMOs.

No, its for the pieces - the stickers and soundtracks, the materials (each with their own properties) and machines.
..........
Soundtracks ARE sounds.
Stickers sound like the graphical textures, no?

I recently saw a new Sony commercial advertising their free PSN connectivity.

And it's not creepy. I daresay it's happy.

I don't see the PS3 going anywhere any time soon.

Maybe I've just been around long enough to get REALLY bitter and twisted over the 360, but I'll never buy one. The original was shit, and it was saved by a FPS that has irrevocably tainted the market. Microsoft's 'contribution' to console gaming is unforgivable.

The Playstation has always been quality. The Saturn was okay, but it had weaker graphics and I heard stories about the disks being very easy to ruin; something about vital disk data on the outside tracks, which get damaged most often. Yes, the N64 rocked very much, but I think Nintendo were already wandering off down a side-path at that point. I think I'd have been rather disappointed if I hadn't had a second Console.

The PS2 speaks for itself, and it does so in a loud, clear voice that even the most deluded Halo Fanboy cannot ignore.

So, we've had two successive generations of quality consoles, whose only major flaw is that the 1st-gen models of the PSX and PS2 tend to have crappy disk readers (though my PS2 is STILL working, with only occasional problems with the initial loading sequence). Microsoft had a reputation for buggy, unreliable shit before the X-Box arrived, and tales such as Red Ring of Death are a bit worse than "Huh, my console's wearing out after four years..."

I have a lot more faith in Sony than in Microsoft. Once designers start figuring out just how much the PS3 can do, the 360 will be royally screwed.

I recently see a lot of PS3 billboards and commercials, but they ONLY mention the blu-ray.
Not a thing about it playing games or anything!

I don't really get these religious doctrines against games. Halo 2, Panzer Dragoon Orta and Ninja Gaiden were the reasons I got an Xbox (and having to wait for KOTOR...Shenmue II was a nice bonus, as well) after it was clear I wasn't getting any of those on my PC or my PS2 at the time. The fact of the matter is that if Halo didn't exist, companies would be copying something else just as fervently. To think otherwise is just myopic. It's as silly as the implied assumption that a game would magically turn people into raving dicks.

As far as the original Xbox goes, it's a solid piece of hardware. It outlasted my PS2 and it still works; I sold it to my friend who modded it and runs XBMC on it.

For someone who's just in it for the games, Sony really has to step it up if they aren't planning to finish last this generation. They really have yet to prove that the PS3 is capable of things that are vastly better than its competition. Their software sure isn't showing it...even the Sony reps admitted that they were so concentrated in telling people how awesomely powerful their system is that they forgot that people want a system for the games (which was Microsoft's lesson last generation, hilariously). Plus they're running out of time to do that.

LittleBigPlanet is one thing that separates the PS3 from its competition, but for most, it's not enough.

The Wii is going to keep improving its lineup which is obvious to anyone looking at their upcoming games for 09. The PS3 will also be improving its lineups and reducing cost again soon hoepfully meaning that their is a chance that it too will fly past the 360. As for the 360 itself I see it continuing to bomb, wtih this new trend of second teir JRPGs doing little to help things.

Don't get me wrong I love JRPGs even if it will get me shot here for saying so, but I can go to the DS for that and not worry about failure rates or having almost nothing else I could not get on my PC.

So in short, yes The PS3 is going to make a comback. I don't think it will beat the Wii but I think it will take its rightful place this round as 'Close runner up'

That's not what Kaz Hirai said. Ok to be fair he said they weren't dropping it for the holidays (which is when it would've made sense)

I have seen a few commercials lately:

PS3: Their marketing for X-Mas is "Have you started your wish list yet?" They only show LBP and I find it quite humorous that they think 1 game is a "Wish list".

360: This weird thing where a guy is playing it and then they pan around their head to show the back of their head open with a game playing inside as if it was the TV, They showcased GHWT, and I think Banjo Kazooie and 1 more that I can't quite remember.

Wii: N/A

Game commercials: Most of them that I've seen show the 360 at the end of them(a few do show PS3 though.)

There will be no comeback.
There will be no killer-app.
There will be no magical defining experience to come with Home.

I find it disheartening that PS3 owners are still looking to the future hoping for some kind of messiah. The machine has built up a good line-up of games [http://kotaku.com/5075897/the-playstation-3-gift-guide]. What are you waiting for? There's loads of interesting stuff on the machine and there's loads of interesting stuff to come without having to grab for vague future sight like GoW3 or Twisted Metal who as yet lack any kind of release date. Just take a look at Infamous or Heavy Rain who are within an arm's length.

Why so depressed?

Meh,
*End rant

KSI Hellboy:
Last Wii commercial I saw was the day before yesterday, an old couple playing Wii-sports bowling... A week before that I saw a Mario Galaxy one, so it isn't all bad. But Wii-sports? Still advertising for that? *shakes head

Seen some LBP and Gears 2 (GoW = God of War, dagnabbit!) commercials of late as well.

PS3 can never catch up to the Wii's huge lead in console sales. No matter the amount of good games that are coming out for it. Nintendo as sold a ridiculous amount of Wii's. And I think that because the PS3 is still more expensive then other consoles, it is still unlikely that everyone will buy it.
