I like some of their music because, to be honest, it's got some pretty kick ass riffs and shit, but if you've heard like 5 of their songs, you've heard them all.

However, I can't claim to agree with their general "wahh the Government and Police and Army are bad guys" message, cos it's just kinda lame, and its been done soooo many times before. I just like the angriness and aggression that goes with it. Does that make me a bad person?

i think the band is great, and i'm an adult. please don't say "all adults" hate them, a lot of the people my age listneed to them when we were in highschool and we all (my friends and myself) still like the band.

Thank you. Not all adults hate them, I've actually seen them a handful of times in person, and personally I don't hink they're against the government, per se. I think they address issues that they care about, and point out hypocrisy and the slime that gets mixed in with politics. To me, they're the group that says, "Hey, there's bad shit happening in the world, focus people!"

They're pretty good musically but their lyrics sound like they were written by a 13 year old Rage Against The Machine fan.

The reason they broke up is because Zack De La Rocha was too political. I only like a handful of their songs. The rest don't seem to be well put together artistically speaking.

Well, as you can see from my avatar, I love them. They were the first proper rock band I ever listened to, back when I was 11, and I've loved them for 7 years now-undeniably my favourite band ever, probably until I die. However, I have become slightly disillusioned with them-they are probably all pretty rich, don't carry through a lot of what they say (though I know that at least when they were first together there's been arrests of various members for demonstrating), and it certainly seems now that they don't really care for the music, and I have major doubts that they will play any more shows.

I think what was best about them is the anger of the music, the riffs, though fairly similar, were still awesome to rock out to, and the fact that the establishment and various news channels (specifically Fox News) were so bloody scared of them because they were essentially telling people the truth, which people then desperately tried to counter by making up crap about them and turning them into an evil band that actively and explicitly promotes violence.

Pretty much this, I love Rage. It annoys me a bit when people who think they're being clever and observant say to me 'Hey, did it ever occur to you that they make loads of money from their music?'
To which I say something akin to 'And what does the music industry run on?'
Dumbasses.

Since I'm not english born I have a little problem of analyse every word and phrase. The only thing I really listen to is the guitarwork and that drowns the lyrics a bit for me as a guitar nerd. For me RATM is just a mix of rude lyrics and awsome guitarwork and that is the only thing that makes me to love the band.

Not that I really find it right or amusing hurting other people, but because of the horrible things that have been done to captured American troops and civilians that those families will never really feel any justice was done for. While we really are only putting them in a state of terrible pain to find out what we want to know, we don't execute prisoners.

IMO rap/rock is overdone and Linkin park blends rap into rock/metal the best so people try and copy em.

But how can a genre really be 'overdone'? Why isn't metal overdone, or other genres? Are you saying it in a gimmick/angle sense? If so, there are plenty of people who love the fusion, I personally don't see it as overdone. I can agree with the down with the Government thing being almost cliché.

That being said, what do people think of Flobots? I quite like them.

RATM are... Alright. I have an album that I listen to if I'm in a "FUCK THA SYSTEM" mood, but I usually use the Sex Pistols for that. God Save the Queen and all that

First time I heard Rage, I thought Tom Morello was the black guy from Police Academy who does them cool sound effects (Larvell Jones I think he's called.) Seriously, listen to any Rage solo and you'll see where I'm coming from.

Personally, I quite like RATM. I hate authority, enjoy the odd bit of "DAM MAN HATES MEEEE!" attitude and I happen to find Zack De La Rocha rather sexy.

Yea you're right, it still kinda urks me though. I wonder if maybe it's a pride thing, their music being used as torture to listen to lol.
