Stop ragging on people who don't believe in evolution guys. It's a theory like any other, they're allowed not to believe it. If they've never been told it's true, why would they believe it? Damn elitists.
This makes me rage.

Most comments on youtube make me cringe.
you're going to fit in well here. Welcome to the Escapist.

OT:

Anytime somebody posts this picture:

As a socialist, knowing that socialism is an ideal based in pure democracy, this makes me cringe. Sometimes, seeing somebody use it to represent the socialist ideology will make me feel legitimate feelings of depression for around an hour.
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST. IS THAT HITLER ON THE FAR RIGHT? I can understand confusing communism and socialism, since they're on the same side of the spectrum but HITLER IS ON THE FAR RIGHT, A FASCIST, ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE POLITICAL SPECTRUM. HE HATED SOCIALISTS.
/rage

Not to mention the two on the left and center were communists, not socialists.
Actually, the name nazi is a combination of the term National Socailism and Hitler supported a combination of fascist and socailist ideals, this is because when you go to the extreme left or right the sides start to blur and fuse. It's the communists who he really hated and blamed the destruction of capital on.

OT: Those people who, when I say I hate the Wii, claim that I'm being biased and a fan-boy. I don't mind nintendo, I just think motion sensitivity is crap and there was no logical reason that they should have focused on that.

I work in a kitchen so I keep the stupid tickets servers ring in
"Romano Chicken Salad--no lettuce" actually a Milanaise, 1 ingredient in common
"Dinner Scallops--shellfish allergy"
"Kids penne mayo" -- meant marinara
"Filet done Pittsburgh Well (think hockey puck) but a little pink in the middle"
"2 Scoops Ice Cream- Caesar, Chocolate" meant both chocolate
best question of the day (and maybe the week) "I have a vegan guest who wants to know if they can have the lasagna?" pause, then me "Yes, yes they can."
Yesterdays "whats in the chiffonade basil?" (for non-foodies, chiffonade means cut into ribbons, the reason this is funny is that it was my manager, a former line cook)

these might not be that funny to non-cooks.....

Gravity is still called a theory, keep that in mind.
Yep, many things in science are theories, such as heliocentrism, gravity, evolution, the lifecycle of stars etc.. The scientific use of the word "theory" is quite different to the colloquial use.

Pretty much anyone who uses the term Fascist as an insult for a far right conservative, the farthest right is anarchy, and on a political party's standpoint both major american parties draw on facist influence, the Democrats generally economically and Republican's generally socially, neither take it to the extremes of Fascism and it doesn't mean that Bush or Obama are Hitler. People these days seem to think of it as more of a league of super villains than a political system.

I disagree with you. The problem though isn't the core of your argument which you will see I agree with. It is having to point out that you have fallen into a misconception. A simple misconception that most people stumble into, not understanding what 'right and left' actually mean. It is so bad that the terms right and left are really invalid in any way shape or form given how little understanding goes on about just what these two points are meant to mean on the compass.

Originally, if I remember right, left and right was meant to be government control on organised structures such as banks, factories, unions, businesses and any other large group of people. While top and bottom where how much governmental control over individual liberties, such as individual ownership of property, free speech, 'decency' laws and other things which effect a single person.

Only top and bottom on the compass has remained the same while left and right are... well whatever 'evils' the people drawing up the compass wants to ***** about. So in reality far right on the spectrum is actually fascists, just the little bug I had to point out in your post, whom want no government control over organised structures while left is where the government outlaws or directly controls any group, be it political parties or businesses themselves.

Neither extreme is very nice, which is probably why people like to blur the meaning so they can feel good about being 'far left' or 'far right.' In reality the political make up of a country like the USA leaves most people no further then mid-right or left, never to the extremes. Only now they are termed the 'far left' and 'far right' by those political pundits wanting to further widen the gap between the two when in reality most 'right leaning' or 'left leaning' politicians are just in difference over just how much control the government should have... not so much the argument should it be all or none.

Like you though I wish people would realise this simple fact, that politicians rarely want communism or fascism in the USA, and would stop trying to label their political opposites as such.

On that note: Can I have a face palm for all the people who treat politics like a sports game?

You know the ignorant and stupid people I am talking about. Those who cheer for X or Y party and have no clue just what they stand for. Those people whom will turn out on voting day to support their team regardless of what brain dead moron they are pushing forth as a candidate. The very same people who will try and elect someone when it is clear to anyone who pays two bits of attention that said candidate will do nothing to better the lives of the very people voting for them?

And in many cases are open about undertaking policies that will in fact make everything worse for the average Joe.

Geography class in 8th grade. My teacher would give us lectures a lot. that in itself wasn't bad. But when every lecture comes down to the same things:
"God is good."
"Gay people are bad."
It get's pretty bad. Once he tried to explain to us how gay people caused the downfall of the Roman Empire, and if gay people could get married then soon people would be marrying dogs!

I stumbled across a Youtube video with some guy explaining that we live on the inside of a hollow earth and that all the stars and pictures of space are just of street lights and fish. I can think of no possible way to refute this argument. It's just too watertight.

Thats my point, everytime I hear (or in this case see somebody post) something like "Comeon guys, there isn't THAT much evidence for evolution, I mean gezze its just a theory" I die a little inside.

I had this girl ask me the other day:

"What's Global Warming?"

I stared at her for a few seconds then replied, "I'm sorry I blacked out; my mind isn't used to that level of stupidity."

Or another girl, saying how tree frogs eat trees. How can a small frog eat a tree?

Probably the time i heard some eco warrior hippie woman banging on about globabl warming and then she starts up like

"Hey you know those earthquakes in Haiti they were caused by global warming and the rifts its making by destabilising the antarctic continent"

Needless to say i face palmed and explained tectonic plates to which she replied

"its still caused by global warming then because the global warming is heating up the magma making it move more then isn't it"

I hate people sometimes i mean come on thats the type of shit you learn in year 7 geography and she was in sixth form.

Some things I found funny and stupid at the same time

Obama "My healthcare plan will do good for the people."

(Conversation I had with a liberal who voted for Obama.)
Me: Why did you vote for Obama?
Guy: Because he is black.
Me: Is that the only reason?
Guy: No, I also voted for him because he was a democrat
Me: Do you even know what a democrat is?
Guy: Uhhhhhhh.........(guy walks off)

I laughed so hard after that conversation.

Basically 95% of the internet fills me with rage over ignorance and stupidity.

I always used to think, "Well, maybe I'm just being arrogant." No. I understand people having different opinions, but when I hear people ask questions like "So, is China in, like, Africa?" I beg someone to give me a stress ball so I can pummel it instead of the moron.

One thing that really ticked me off was when I would overhear a person say "You have to support Obama or you're racist." or "I'm voting for him because he's black."

Race should not aid or hinder a presidential candidate's chances. It's like voting for someone based on their height.

One wow thank for a well thought out and non-flaming rebuttal I have begun to really appreciate that.

On the subject I think we actually are saying just about the same thing, I was just a little unclear in my post, but the definition of Fascism is a more than a little off topic so I probably won't pursue it further on this thread.
