Most teachers I've met don't see a difference.

Well this teacher did, and really the picture (it was adam and eve) only flashed on the screen for like 5 seconds. The one's who couldn't tell the difference were 18 year old boys.

And today a computer had a desktop that had bush and said worst president ever. So the guy next to me put an anti Obama wallpaper. Only it wasn't really anti- Obama to me. it said Vote for Obama so everyone can get what you worked hard for. Yeah so everyone's equal, how's that bad, and hows that sign funny. Unless you're incredibally callous and think people shouldn't have the same opritunities as one another, it's a positive sign.

It's a communist thing, which is good on paper, but as we saw with the USSR, regardless of the dictatorship, communist does not provide a stable economy, plus there is still, for some reason, some lingering idea of communism being bad.

I know communism doesn't work, but I don't think that was the point of the poster, or why he put it up on the desktop. This was regarding more Socialist idea, like universal health care. And as I said earlier he's in a class with me where we talk about current events (the class we were watching the movie). He seems to feel, (as well as most of his friends) that if you can't afford health care, you shouldn't get any treatment. He rarely chimes into class except for these moments, to say he doesnt like Obama because he's a socialist. The main reason I posted this was because he's very ignorant of the issues, and acting like a smug cock (and I also put it up because he put it up the anti obama one as revenge for the Bush Worst president ever desktop [and he was awful, if not the worst]). I agree communism can't work.

EDIT: and how could I forget that a big thing that was wrong with the poster is that Obama ISN'T a communist or a socialist.

I actually didn't know. This is the only video I've seen of him and I found it as I finished another "L4D2 is racist" video that put me in a "some people are just idiots" attitude. This was also from before L4D2 came out so I didn't remember every thing about this video.

If you have a diffrent oppinon fine, if you believe the world was created in 7 days by God because of you're belifs, fine. If you're going to tell me evolution is "just a theory" and dosn't hold much ground, then that annoys me. The phase "just a theory" makes me rage like a bull. In order for something to be announced as a theory it has to have hard scietnific backing with strong evidence.

A very basic example.
"I have a ball in my hand, if I throw it at the floor it should bounce."
That is an idea.

"I had ball in my hand, I thought that if I threw it at the floor it would bounce, so I threw it at the floor countless times and everytime it bounces, so therefor my idea was correct"
That is a theory.

See what I'm getting at?

While learning about Nazis and the horrors of concentration camps this one kid asked how people could do this to the Jews and after seeing a picture of children in a concentration camp he said "I fucking hate Germans!" I just couldn't understand how stupid he was. Later, in another class he said something like that again and a bunch of the other kids including myself said that we were part German and he just said "I don't care. You guys probably kill Jews for a living." He said it really loud and even the teacher heard him. I hate people like that.

The thing is, you can't personally prove evolution in any sort of way. All you can do is quote other people who may as well be lying. I believe in evolution, but I think it's wrong to hang crap on people who don't just because they don't. You, yourself, cannot prove evolution any more than they, alone, cannot prove creationism. All either of you are doing is quoting other people who may or may not be right.

My point is, if you're not in the room where the ball is being bounced, why are you defending it so feverently?

1. I can, but this thread isn't about creationism or evolution (you could just refer to the youtube link my 1st post).
2. Whats annoying me isn't diffrent opinons, simply mis-use of the word 'theory'.

I had this question asked of me on a trip of Mammoth cave and was dumbstruck that a question like this could even be asked. There was nothing I could do but give the answer, 1812, as sarcastic as possible. The guide didn't like that, which makes me wonder if he has actually had people who didn't know this answer.

Some people really couldn't care less about history. It's quite a shame.

Anyways, as someone who spends way too much time around the old 'atheism vs. theism' kind of discussions, I've got too many of these to count from both sides (As an atheist myself, I may be a bit biased though).

First, there's the good ole 'Atheism takes just as much faith as religion' BS.
Second, 'How can you be an 'Agnostic Atheist'? Isn't that contradictory?'(Said out of genuine ignorance of the fact that (a)theism and (a)gnostic are not mutually exclusive terms, this can be forgiven). Alternatively, 'Atheists claim to KNOW God exists so are just as close-minded as theists'.
Third, 'Atheists know God exists deep down, they just want to live in sin.'
Fourth, on the other side of the coin, the constant 'OMgeez reLigUN is liek, teh w0rzt thng ev@r nd thr wuld NevAr be warz r bad stuf with0ut it.' I hate this because it only advances the stereotype of atheists as just rebellious teens trying to look intellectual.

Also, on an unrelated note, anyone claiming all things animated are 'kiddy stuff'.
