1. I can, but this thread isn't about creationism or evolution (you could just refer to the youtube link my 1st post).
2. Whats annoying me isn't diffrent opinons, simply mis-use of the word 'theory'.
1. Utter bullshit. What part of "you, yourself" eluded you? Perhaps I should have said alone. Youcan't quote anyone. They could be lying.

2. Okay, and where did I misuse the word theory hmm? Let's look at my post.

Stop ragging on people who don't believe in evolution guys. It's a theory like any other, they're allowed not to believe it. If they've never been told it's true, why would they believe it? Damn elitists.
"It's a theory like any other." Like, say, the big bang theory. Which, incidentally, is not solid and gets rewritten every other goddamn day. So uh... yeah I don't see where you're coming from anymore. Calling a theory a theory is bad?
No.

Theory by definition means a solid, well backed up idea (refer to what I said about balls), it dosn't have to be evolution, its when anyone says "its just a theory" about any theory.

Moving on, another pet peeve of mine is people that misuse the word 'agonostic'. It does not mean 'sitting on the fence', it means you believe it is impossible to prove or disprove God, you could be an agonostic Christian, Atheist, Hindu or anything really. Agonostic on its own isn't a religous stance.

This one's kind of fuzzy; it happened a long time ago when I was in bible study, but I think the gist of it was like this.

Bible Study Teacher: And the lord created the heavens and the Earth.

Me: But what about evolution?

Teacher: Well, sometimes the devil tells us things...

Me: So the theory of evolution is the product of the devil?

I don't remember getting a straight response to that last question.
I only went to Sunday school while I was eight years old. But we would get the wrath of God for asking questions like that.
My brother got kicked out of Sunday school because the teacher asked what was Judas' last name and he replied Priest, The teacher then lectured him on how he shouldn't listen to "Devil Music". God i'm so happy that my mum said i never had to go back

Pretty much anyone who uses the term Fascist as an insult for a far right conservative, the farthest right is anarchy, and on a political party's standpoint both major american parties draw on facist influence, the Democrats generally economically and Republican's generally socially, neither take it to the extremes of Fascism and it doesn't mean that Bush or Obama are Hitler. People these days seem to think of it as more of a league of super villains than a political system.

I'm better now
Thank you for that explanation. It really helps clear things up for people who don't know.

OT:In U.S. history class, we were doing reports on the Bill of Rights. Kid who has 2nd amendment goes up in front of the class and (with a straight face) says that the "Right to Bear Arms" is the right to go out on your porch without a shirt on and flex your muscles.

He was serious.

Oh, and when we watched Red Dawn in a different history class, some kid thought that it actually happened. Teacher just let him think that. Then, when it was national have-your-parents-come-in-and-talk-about-their-profession day, somebody had a military parent. Said kid asks about US-Soviet war, and gets a blank look.

"The Cold War, you mean?"

"No, I mean the one that actually happened. In like, Midwestern America. You know, they made a documentary about?"

Sooooooooooooo wanted to punch him in the face.

A few days ago this annoying ***** from my Advanced Algebra Trig class asks the difference between the less than and greater than signs. My question is how the fuck did she manage an advanced math class?

A 15 year old in advanced classes had NO F&%$ING IDEA what communism is. Really? Thats like going "Hitler who?".
My sisters friend said that.
My mate and I were talking about an upcoming WWII project for history, and she over heard us talking about it and she actually asked who Hitler was.

Why is it that you speak of an entire population as if they all feel the exact same way about something as specific as that?
And you're wrong, because I don't feel that Europeans owe the Uniteds States anything for what occured during WWII.

Huh? I never said anything about america as a whole
"Americans feel that everyone in Europe owe them for their aide in WW2".

That's making a very broad generalization of the American people.

"Americans THAT feel everyone in Europe owe them for their aide in WW2".

You changed where the 'that' was, which changed the whole meaning of the sentence.

I think you'll all get a kick out of this:

In a high school marine biology class, the teacher was discussing continental drifting, and the idea that one day all landmasses would again become whole. A girl pipes up in the back,"But where will all the water go?"

Earlier this year in my Bio XL class, my teacher was explaining Charles Darwin and his theory of evolution. Some girl stands up and totally tells the teacher that she's going to hell and that everything she lectured us about evolution is "complete bullsh*t". Then she and 2 others walk out of the classroom.

My God. I respect other people's religions but...seriously?

I sincerely hope that teacher never lets them back in.

I know the rebuttal to that is "but then they'd never learn anything" but it seems to me that them learning anything is never going to be an option anyway.

So, someone in my AP World History class complained to their church because my teacher showed us Harry Potter(We had just finished the year's final and biggest test) and saying that it promoted Wicca beliefs. Since then why can't watch any movie that has any magic at all.

Unfortunately, the casual and scientific use of the word "theory" are not the same, so Danny's correct from a scientific standpoint (which of course we should be using when discussing evolution). It's important to keep in mind, though, that what is included in the theory of evolution reaches back to our presupposed most recent common ancestor and no further than that. Ideas about the generation of life from nonliving matter (abiogenesis) are still hypotheses (mere ideas unsupported by a significant body of fact), as is the way the solar system formed from an accretion disk after the Big Bang. However, [edit] it's called the Big Bang theory for a reason.

Creationists can and do argue that evolution should not be a theory, as opposed to "evolution is just a theory."

About agnosticism, I see your point, but since it defines one's worldview I'm not sure that it wouldn't be a religious view.

Gravity is a theory. It's also a cold hard fact. The theory of gravity tries to explain how the proven fact of gravity works.
