I keep telling off my friend because he thinks its ok for him to drive drunk, and he brags about it sometimes.
I once even had to make him into giving his car keys by force and beat him up for them because he didn't see the logic of NOT driving drunk on New Years eve when every cop in town is out to rake in DUIs and lots of people in the streets.

But the thing that pissed me off the most was when he said one of his friends drove drunk and crashed on a roundabout because he didn't have time/forgot/was too drunk to turn and went straight on it.
"But it's not the booze that made him do that" he said,"he was also using his phone, that's what made him crash, not the alcohol".
He was sober when he said this ridiculous bullshit.
Needless to say,I refuse to go in his car when we go out.
Oh wow, if you're too stupid to not realize that drinking and driving=bad, then you really shouldn't have a license.

Most comments on youtube make me cringe.
you're going to fit in well here. Welcome to the Escapist.

OT:

Anytime somebody posts this picture:

As a socialist, knowing that socialism is an ideal based in pure democracy, this makes me cringe. Sometimes, seeing somebody use it to represent the socialist ideology will make me feel legitimate feelings of depression for around an hour.
Just looking at that makes me want to cry at the stupidity of the person who made that picture...

Also arguing that athiesm and agonosticism are not the same for the 80 millionth goddamn time.
wait, are you arguing for or against the two being different?

If against, then let me provide a few definitions

Atheism: the belief that God or any other deity does not exist.

Agnosticism: The belief that whether or not one or more gods exist is unknowable. It's generally interpreted as working with what you got, but keeping an open mind.

If for, then please disregard the previous and accept my sincere apologies

OT: One guy in my 2nd year HISTORY class asked what WW2 was. Even the squirrel outside the window face-palmed (or in his case, face-paw)

I would actually have to say the entire Liberal party of Australia. Our politicians are hilariously idiotic, yet sometimes it's fairly unnerving.

*laughs* Watch out England, Pauline Hanson is coming. Oh, thank God we've finally gotten rid of her.

And don't get me started on Family First. I feel sick with hatred whenever I see their 'ABORTION IS LIKE KILLING A BABY' posters. It just... augh.

girl who asks lots of questions turns up to prac class in $300 leather cowboy boots. we're all wearing cheap gumboots from kmart.
she ends up getting kicked in the hip by one of the cattle and refuses to get up claiming it was broken (it's not).
paramedics arrive and procede to cut off the jeans and $300 gumboots with scissors in order to treat the wound site properly.

This one's kind of fuzzy; it happened a long time ago when I was in bible study, but I think the gist of it was like this.

Bible Study Teacher: And the lord created the heavens and the Earth.

Me: But what about evolution?

Teacher: Well, sometimes the devil tells us things...

Me: So the theory of evolution is the product of the devil?

I don't remember getting a straight response to that last question.
You, sir/ma'am, are epic. *another high five*

There was a post on the first page that I'm not going to quote because it's not 100% related, but it had to do with someone not knowing something to do with physics. I am always the stupid person who says stuff like 'why do rainbows happen', but I haven't done a science class since I was twelve. That doesn't make me stupid, I'm actually pretty smart. Just not at science. So it's important to remember that not all people who ask seemingly dumb questions are necessarily dumb.

Someone who IS really dumb however, is a girl in my drama class. We'd just finished watching a play about the sinking of the submarine Kursk. This girls asked the teacher what a submarine was.
And she was serious.

Anytime anyone uses the excuse of 'I'm an X' to qualify whatever unintelligent, bigoted, nigh-defenseless garbage they just spewed as ok, since they have the magical shield of 'you must respect what I say because my beliefs are sacrosanct'

Tied to that, people who believe, in any religion or philosophy, that being happiness is obtained through self-denial, and the denial of others happiness and freedoms. Whatever your beliefs, humans have a rational, intelligent mind. Happiness is the goal of life right along reproduction, as it makes us live longer. So what's the point in denying all the different forms of happiness? When these folks get on the internet, they always make me rage.

I can see 90% of these posts start off with 'In my x Class...' (replace x with class name)

I chose to wear my Hammer and Sickle T shirt the other day. Some curious kid came up to me and said:

Tosser: 'What's that on your shirt?'
Me: 'It's the symbol of the Soviet Union'
Tosser: 'Oh, Is that, like, White Power or something?'
Me: *Sighs and walks off*
lol you are not alone, I remember actually getting into a brawl because some random moron tried to get me to take my CCCP shirt off,
"when I asked him why the f*ck I would, he said it was because nazism was obviously offensive" the look on his face like I was the idiot was priceless. No amount of explaining could change his mind and unfortunatley I ended up in a brawl to prevent some weirdo trying to take my shirt off me in a public place.

The Nazis were originally the National Socialist Party.
Although it should be noted that the meaning behind it pretty much just means "beneficial towards our nation". (Also, not "originally", but "all the time". Nazi is just short for Nationalsozialist)

In terms of a political direction, the NSDAP was messy at best. They did incorporate some socialist ideas, but were still pretty much enemies with communist and socialdemocratic movements in germany. And and while Hitler and Stalin had a pact at some point, let's not forget that former ended up breaking it and declared war against latter.

So putting Mao, Stalin and Hitler into the same context for anything other than thier dictatorship and kill counts is still pretty stupid.

I was watching a political viceo on YouTube the other day and spotted a comment from someone talking about the war in Iraq with a comment along the lines of 'Nobody cares about the rag-heads, they brought it on themselves. They deserve everything they get for 9-11 and murdering their own people.'

This resulted in a lot of frustration on my part. Seriously, I know their a ignorant people out there but... wow. Even if I could understand their confusion about 9-11 being connected to Iraq, it still just gets to me. I guess they were just one of those racists who call themselves 'patriots'. But really most comments on YouTube are terrible.

well i come bearing more history class stories... it seems that's where it stupid stuff happen the most :p

The pre-finals, so the year before the last year of high school. In history class in Belgium; the teacher was saying what we were going to cover in the last year of history and so the teacher said we would finish that year with WW2 and then the final year we would move on to the American civil rights movements, etc...

So a girl asked why we never were going to cover World War 3

The teacher and class had to painstakingly explain that there never was a WW3 and that instead we had a cold-war, to make it worse, the girl asked why it was called the cold-war :S

Pretty much anyone who uses the term Fascist as an insult for a far right conservative, the farthest right is anarchy, and on a political party's standpoint both major american parties draw on facist influence, the Democrats generally economically and Republican's generally socially, neither take it to the extremes of Fascism and it doesn't mean that Bush or Obama are Hitler. People these days seem to think of it as more of a league of super villains than a political system.

*exhales*
*inhales*
I'm better now
heh.....league of super-villains.

What I'm about to say may sound stupid but why do they teach things like the American civil rights movement in a history class in Belgium? To be honest here in America what we learn about other countries is extremely limited because let's face it most Americans seem to care only about the US and our history and couldn't care less about the rest of world.

My stupidity story comes from my 20th century US history class. My teacher was like 23 years old, a hot blonde who really lived up to being a dumb blonde. She basically let me play on the computer (I had Shogun Total War installed on it) the whole class because she knew that there was nothing she could teach me that I didn't know already (I study history as a hobby and the previous year had taken a college level WW2 class despite myself being a high school sophmore). The reason I say she couldn't teach me anything is because she was so stupid I facepalmed at least once per day. The gem had to be when me and her had an argument in front of the class that went like this.

Teacher: Next we will cover operation overload.
me: The name was overlord
teacher: I'm positive it's overload, this I know.
it should be no surprise that at this point I bounced my head off the nearest wall just because the stupidy was just so mindblowing I needed something to convince me this was still reality. So I went back to my computer, got online, and showed her 5 tabs in internet explorer detailing operation overlord. She finally got my point.

In unrelated note I ended up nearly getting in trouble that same day because when I made a mistake in Shogun Total War I accidentally shouted DAMNIT at almost the top of my voice. Guess my anger at the teacher for being so stupid hadn't gone away.
