About any Mac vs. Windows arguments and iPhone vs. other phones arguments makes me rage.

"Macs are the best, well, because they look good."
"Macs crushes windows, my 13" MacBook (A normal MacBook, 2008) is better than that new i7-shit."
I seriously wanted to punch that person in the face.
"iPhone is the best smartphone in the world, because it's got a lot of games."
SMARTPHONES MUST BE ABLE TO RUN MORE THAN ONE PROGRAM AT THE SAME TIME!

Seriously, Apple vs. everything else arguments makes me so angry.

There was a post on the first page that I'm not going to quote because it's not 100% related, but it had to do with someone not knowing something to do with physics. I am always the stupid person who says stuff like 'why do rainbows happen', but I haven't done a science class since I was twelve. That doesn't make me stupid, I'm actually pretty smart. Just not at science. So it's important to remember that not all people who ask seemingly dumb questions are necessarily dumb.
I'm going to quote this because it's true. A fair amount of this thread is just intelligent people acting snooty.

Not knowing a whole lot about Physics but attempting to learn more about it: not stupid.

Not knowing what a submarine is: stupid.

Mine would be from 3rd Year (15-16 year olds). A lad in my class asked what the "therefore symbol" (∴) meant. A legitimate question. He was given the answer, and thought about it for a few seconds. Then he said "there for what?"

Another one was the same year, different guy. I went to a Franciscan Brothers school - church on Sunday, monks teaching some subjects, all that jazz - and a guy was given a multiple choice answer to the question "Who is the son of God?". He picked John. Either he was hilariously subverting the question - are we not all children of God? - or he was a fucking idiot. I think I know which one.

My first heroics group after having just dinged 80. I zone in.

Looting set to Need Before Greed.
Loot threshold set to Uncommon.
Dungeon Difficulty set to 5 Player (Heroic).
[DG] [Gulizakiya-Blackrock]: cya everyone... ! have a nice day
Darty-Blackrock is now the group leader.
Gulizakiya leaves the party.
Mithun receives loot: [Frostweave Cloth]x2.
Mithun receives loot: [Relic of Ulduar].

Abditus has chosen: Damage
You are now queued in the Dungeon Finder.
[P] [Mithun-Nagrand]: lol
Oolong joins the party.

At this stage I accidentally pull an elite mob and a few non-elites as well. No big deal.

[DG] [Darty-Blackrock]: or pull shit
[P] [Abditus]: oops my bad
[P] [Abditus]: soz, not a good first impression aye

Never mind that then, we'll just move on.
Unfortunately, through the next few battles, it's apparent that something is wrong. I'm doing my usual job of AOEing the non-elites down, but near the boss Krystallus something happens: during a fight, I get charged seemingly out of the blue by one of the mobs (probably an elite) and killed in one or two hits. No idea how that happened. I was just standing there AOEing them like usual. Perhaps the tank was not keeping aggro like he should have.

I wait a moment to see if I'll get a res. No such luck. At this point, I release spirit.
And why is he bothering with Recount on TRASH MOBS?

Changed Channel: [1. General - The Storm Peaks]
Changed Channel: [3. LocalDefense - The Storm Peaks]
[P] [Crustysocks-Blackrock]: 2k with aoe...nice
[P] [Abditus]: I shouldn't have to put up with this
You leave the group.

Key notes: they obviously had much better gear than I had, as I had only just dinged 80 and my GS was only 2700 while theirs was in the 4-5k range. You do the math.
If this is what it's commonly like at level 80, then there's a very serious problem. And it's not with me.

Bloody 14 year old kids.

Now non-gaming moments of ignorance and stupidity... I'll have to get back to you on that, there's too many for me to remember.

If he really wanted to subvert it, he could have said Hercules.

Was Adam also one of the choices?

I really lose faith in people's mental competence when I read about, what can only be described as the real-life equivalent of Critical Research Failure.

The last section is labelled "Real Life" and demonstrates some of the kind of things I'm referring to.

Geographical prejudice drives me nuts.

Where you live does not give you just cause to dislike people who live elsewhere. I really cannot stand jingo-istic tossers who believe themselves superior because of the land they walk on. Patriotism-by-landmass can go fuck itself (I'm not greatly fond of patriotism in general).

The fact that it's been far too easy for people to walk into my fist. Now I don't punch people, but there are far too many instances where I'm out walking and, without moving, it's been very possible to engineer a situation where some gonk would walk into my fist because they're not looking where they're going; seriously, I just have to raise my arm...... (I don't btw, this is just a general observation on the inability of the people in my area to be aware of their surroundings while moving)

I've had a few shame-inducing moments of self-ignorance/stupidity as well, like when it clicked for me what "always in the last place you look" actually meant, I'd always operated under the assumption that the item was in an obscure location, not that when you found it you stop looking, heavy embarrassment descended when that finally worked it's way through my brain.

What I'm about to say may sound stupid but why do they teach things like the American civil rights movement in a history class in Belgium? To be honest here in America what we learn about other countries is extremely limited because let's face it most Americans seem to care only about the US and our history and couldn't care less about the rest of world.
And that is why most American's are the laughing-stock of the rest of the world, as in the video of youtube fame "Americans are not stupid". European schools consider it important to learn from the history and customs of other nations as well. The civil-rights movement in the States impacted Europe as well.

I watched my friend try to water down his patio one night so he'd have ice to skate on and practice his slapshot. No joke. Apparently he forgot to tell his night-shift-working-nurse-wife about it, so when she tried to come in from the garage, she slipped on her arse and broke her tailbone. The damn ice-patio thing pretty much worked though. I was actually a little impressed. (His wife was not, obviously.)

P.S. I meant to say that the rage was not mine, but the icy glare I got from his wife on the couch when I walked in saying, "Holy S#%$! It worked dude! You're a genius!", was enough to make my spine cinch up a few vertibrae.

Im going on a school trip to poland to visit concentration camps and this guy heard two of the people going talking about it and said in a smug tone "well i wouldn't have gone anyway" I knew he was a dick before but this just horrified me. Also a girl in my history class asked me if Hitler did something bad then followed up by asking if Hitler was a nazi a weel later in my R.E class she asked the teacher what an atheist was the topic we've been doing for a week is atheism and postmodernism.

wash over from American pop culture stereo types in Australia is kinda unnerving, I still remember coming into the city for the 1st time in my life and on my 1st day at school a bunch or well....... retards started giving me shit about been a racist bastard, based on the evidence that I came from the country and wore an akubra (a brand of australian bush hat), Funniest thing was not one of their close friends came from another country despite 50 % of that school been migrants.
Long story short at least it was easy to spot the dick heads.

Given that the thread title, how do all monotheistic religions compel their followers to "feats of stupidity" and why is it that you specify monotheistic religions? Are their polytheistic companions immune to this flaw?

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST. IS THAT HITLER ON THE FAR RIGHT? I can understand confusing communism and socialism, since they're on the same side of the spectrum but HITLER IS ON THE FAR RIGHT, A FASCIST, ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE POLITICAL SPECTRUM. HE HATED SOCIALISTS.
/rage

Not to mention the two on the left and center were communists, not socialists.
Nazi's actually called themselves 'Nationalist Socialists'. They nationalised everything and made the state muscle its way into every facet of everyday life.

The whole 'left wing - right wing' is retarded, a much better way to look at it is as a 2D graph like on http://www.politicalcompass.org/analysis2 which breaks it down to 'economic freedom' and 'social freedom'.

Which gives you (loosely):
Economic & Social freedom = Libertarianism
Economic freedom & little Social freedom = Conservatism
Social freedom * little economic freedom = Socialism
little Economic freedom & little Social freedom = Fascism / Communism

In terms of the classic left-right analogy to that compass, left wing would be bottom left and right wing would be top right. Hitler and Stalin are pretty similar superficially...

[edit: oh and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Socialism

"National Socialism, sometimes called Nazism, was the ideology of the Nazi Party (National Socialist German Workers? Party) led by Adolf Hitler."

Hitler didn't hate socialists, Hitler regarded himself as a socialist. :p Not that socialism is 'bad', I just hate it when people try bunch everything into the two ridiculous categories of right/left]

People who try to explain any of the following: Fascism, Nazism, Socialism,Communism and any of the key figures involved when they clearly have the bare minimum of knowledge.

And on a different note, back when i did A level history a lass in my class asked if Hiroshima was in Greece. Sigh.

Most comments on youtube make me cringe.
I doubt you're the only one. I can't help but laugh a little when I look at the comments under the video of the first moon landing.

This didn't really happen to me, it was in a movie based on real events. The movie is called Ben X and while I don't know how much of it really happened, I got pretty pissed off. In short; a guy with autism gets bullied mercilessly. He gets put on a table while his classmates pull his pants down and then film him, with the footage being put on the interwebs. He gets beat up, spat on and plenty of other vile things, just for being different.

There's another movie that made me feel similiar, but it's German and I can't remember the name right now.

Anyone seen the old school Australian film, Gallipoli? It's got Mel Gibson in it. I watched it for my film essay in Yr12 English, and the ending just drove me nuts.

The Australians are in the trenches readying to attack the enemy trenches after a barrage of artillery fire. Unfortunately, the commanding officer in the trenches and the commanding officer at the artillery have out-of-sync watches, and when the artillery fire finishes the trench soldiers aren't ready to attack. The Turks get back to their positions and pick up their guns, and despite there clearly being no chance of success the poor Australians are forced to attack and die. Pretty much they were ordered to sacrifice themselves for nothing.

The pre-finals, so the year before the last year of high school. In history class in Belgium; the teacher was saying what we were going to cover in the last year of history and so the teacher said we would finish that year with WW2 and then the final year we would move on to the American civil rights movements, etc...
What I'm about to say may sound stupid but why do they teach things like the American civil rights movement in a history class in Belgium? To be honest here in America what we learn about other countries is extremely limited because let's face it most Americans seem to care only about the US and our history and couldn't care less about the rest of world.

My stupidity story comes from my 20th century US history class. My teacher was like 23 years old, a hot blonde who really lived up to being a dumb blonde. She basically let me play on the computer (I had Shogun Total War installed on it) the whole class because she knew that there was nothing she could teach me that I didn't know already (I study history as a hobby and the previous year had taken a college level WW2 class despite myself being a high school sophmore). The reason I say she couldn't teach me anything is because she was so stupid I facepalmed at least once per day. The gem had to be when me and her had an argument in front of the class that went like this.

Teacher: Next we will cover operation overload.
me: The name was overlord
teacher: I'm positive it's overload, this I know.
it should be no surprise that at this point I bounced my head off the nearest wall just because the stupidy was just so mindblowing I needed something to convince me this was still reality. So I went back to my computer, got online, and showed her 5 tabs in internet explorer detailing operation overlord. She finally got my point.

In unrelated note I ended up nearly getting in trouble that same day because when I made a mistake in Shogun Total War I accidentally shouted DAMNIT at almost the top of my voice. Guess my anger at the teacher for being so stupid hadn't gone away.
Woah are you serious, the teacher called it operation overload, wtf!

Well European schools cover a lot more than American schools do in high school. With the exception of the UK, as they have a similar system to America. But in the rest of Europe we have set bundles of classes/levels we can choose from. In Belgium it is basically a step system. At the highest you have ASO, then TSO and then BSO at the lowest level in high school (our system also works in 6 years, so you have 6 years of primary, and then 6 years of middle school and high school together and then you can go on depending on your level you studied to college or university)

But at all levels you still get certain stuff which are the same, so at TSO and ASO you basically learn the same history but just at ASO more in depth for example. Though in my belgian school we did focus mainly on european history we did a bit of American history as well including the civil rights movements and such.

Though here is the thing i actually was at a school in belgium which was not a normal belgian school :p

Only wiki can explain it for me:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_School

At the European school we focus equally on Europe as we did on America as it is a more international themed school system (in terms of what we learn)
