The other day a girl in my class asked what came first, world war 1 or 2, and then asked if 9/11 was world war 3. She's in the highest level History class too.....

I have a couple

In physics class my friend said you weigh less on the moon because there was less oxygen there (He now has a Masters degree, Scary!)

But the one that takes the cake

When they were playing loads of Elvis on the radio because of the anniversary of his death a girl i worked with asked why all the elvis and when we explained she said
"I didnt know he was dead I thought he only committed suicide"
The level of stupidity physically hurt me.

A friend of mine had an argument with a teacher we shared some 9 years ago; He said that there were tanks and combat airplanes in WW1. She was utterly convinced that he was wrong. But at least she was pretty to look at...

And in the game Company of Heroes (a WW2 RTS) me and 2 friends watched in amazement at the chatbox:

Enemy1 - Umm, why are you closing of our base with barbed wire?
Enemy2 - I'm defending you!
Enemy1 - ...but how in the hell am I supposed to get past the wire??
Enemy2 - Get the helicopter!!

We felt really sorry for the poor guy, when he loses because of hes own teammate...

Oh, and any guy that compares all MMO:s with WoW. It's a totally different game with totally different mechanics. So shut the hell up about all the stuff you 'think' you know.

Mmm, I've really only got one. It's from back when I was in high school and we were in a science class. There was this one particular girl who was known for being completely pants on head retarded.

My teacher was explaining something (I don't remember what) involving germs/bacteria/microbial life. She raised her hand and asked, quite bluntly, "Germs are real?" The entire class burst out laughing. I died a little inside that day.

I have come across a lot of stupidity in my time (Always wanted to say that but never had the chance!) but these three were definitely the worse.
1. In my AP Euro class, we were watching a movie reenactment about Martin Luther and a girl asked at the end how they got all the film from back then. I kid you not.
2. I was in my Civics class and I had to debate gay rights. I brought up the point that because of the first amendment bringing up that it is ?not right? for gays to marry because God says so is invalid. My teacher then pops in saying that, ?Well, you see here, gay marriage will just be the start. What is next? Bestiality?? Yes, that?s right; gays? marrying is next to mating with a deer. -facepalm-
3. This one takes the cake for sure. A girl told me she did not believe in the recession or swine flu because she was a Christian. ?!?!?! I didn?t know how to respond to that so I just died laughing.

I watched my friend try to water down his patio one night so he'd have ice to skate on and practice his slapshot. No joke. Apparently he forgot to tell his night-shift-working-nurse-wife about it, so when she tried to come in from the garage, she slipped on her arse and broke her tailbone. The damn ice-patio thing pretty much worked though. I was actually a little impressed. (His wife was not, obviously.)

P.S. I meant to say that the rage was not mine, but the icy glare I got from his wife on the couch when I walked in saying, "Holy S#%$! It worked dude! You're a genius!", was enough to make my spine cinch up a few vertibrae.
If it makes you feel any better, I would have done exactly what you did. His idea was awesome!

Pretty much any monotheistic religion.

Incredible feats of stupidity based on the illusion of an omnipotent arsehole.
Ahh, anti-religion nutjobs are so cute when they try to sound important :)

OT - Apart from all the World of Warcraft related stupidity (LOL! Tank ur dps is fail *splutch*), I'm going to take the slightly more interesting route and give examples of my own fuck ups;

Just after playing Red Alert for the first time (at the age of, what, 13?) I asked my history teacher if Stalin was still alive. When he told me he wasn't, I exclaimed "wow! That's a really good double they have for him in the game!"

I used to think "twat" was a cross between "twit" and "prat".

In primary school, I asked my English teacher whether the colour was spelt wight or white, because I knew one was the name of an undead creature, but I couldn't remember which one, freaking her out for the rest of the year.

For a few minutes, I thought the boycott on Left 4 dead 2 was a good idea with well thought out reasoning and clear goals beyond "I don't like change" (Hahahahahaha! No, that's a joke)

Friend, your universal translator has broken. I'm afraid you've been conversing entirely in nerd.

Seriously though: What?

Looting set to If you need it, you get it.
Dungeon Difficulty set to Hardest for 5 players
[DG] [Gulizakiya-Blackrock]: Goodbye, have a good day
Darty-Blackrock is now the group leader.
Gulizakiya leaves the party.
Mithun picks up cloth and relics.
[P] [Crustysocks-Blackrock]: this mage sucks.
[P] [Mithun-Nagrand]: haha
[DG] [Darty-Blackrock]: from an amazing rogue to this?
[P] [Crustysocks-Blackrock]: lol
[DG] [Darty-Blackrock]: i am dissapointed
[P] [Crustysocks-Blackrock]: tsk tsk tsk
[P] [Crustysocks-Blackrock]: lets find another damage dealer
[P] [Crustysocks-Blackrock]: kick mage in 13 min, timer runs out then
[P] [Mithun-Nagrand]: lol
A role check has been initiated. Your group will be queued when all members have selected a role.
Darty has chosen: Damage
Mithun has chosen: Tank, Damage
Crustysocks has chosen: Healer
[DG] [Darty-Blackrock]: naww hes cool
[P] [Abditus]: are you guys serious?
[DG] [Darty-Blackrock]: poor guy
[P] [Crustysocks-Blackrock]: lol
[P] [Mithun-Nagrand]: yeah give him a chance
[P] [Crustysocks-Blackrock]: oook
[P] [Mithun-Nagrand]: imagine if u just achieved level 80.
[DG] [Darty-Blackrock]: i did
[DG] [Darty-Blackrock]: yesterday
[P] [Abditus]: I would've thought the purpose of hard dungeons was to get your character good armor and weapons.
Abditus has chosen: Damage
You are now queued in the Dungeon Finder.
[P] [Mithun-Nagrand]: lol
Oolong joins the party.

At this stage I accidentally pull a really strong monster and a few normals monsters as well. No big deal.

[DG] [Darty-Blackrock]: or pull a hard group of monsters...
[P] [Abditus]: oops my bad
[P] [Abditus]: soz, not a good first impression aye

Never mind that then, we'll just move on.
Unfortunately, through the next few battles, it's apparent that something is wrong. I'm doing my usual job of using group attacks to take the really strong monsters down, but near the boss Krystallus something happens: during a fight, I get charged seemingly out of the blue by one of the monsters (probably a really hard one) and killed in one or two hits. No idea how that happened. I was just standing there mass attacking them like usual. Perhaps the person meant to keep their attention was not doing it like he should have.

[P] [Abditus]: umm
[P] [Abditus]: yeah
[P] [Crustysocks-Blackrock]: well... you got owned
[DG] [Darty-Blackrock]: you got killed in 2 hits...
[P] [Mithun-Nagrand]: sorry, my computer has high latency tonight.
[P] [Crustysocks-Blackrock]: lool

[Crustysocks-Blackrock] says: Recount - DamagePerSsecond for Overall Data
[Crustysocks-Blackrock] says: 1. Oolong 5547.1 (26.5%)
[Crustysocks-Blackrock] says: 2. Pocketknives 4860.8 (23.2%)
[Crustysocks-Blackrock] says: 3. Darty 3608.6 (17.2%)
[Crustysocks-Blackrock] says: 4. >Abditus<-Thaurissan 2697.7 (12.9%)
[Crustysocks-Blackrock] says: 5. Gulizakiya 2598 (12.4%)
[Crustysocks-Blackrock] says: 6. Mithun-Nagrand 1575.4 (7.5%)

I wait a moment to see if I'll be ressurected. No such luck. At this point, I release my spirit and run back to my body.
And why is he bothering with Recount on NORMAL MOBS?

[P] [Crustysocks-Blackrock]: 2000 dps with area of effect spells...nice
[P] [Abditus]: I shouldn't have to put up with this
You leave the group.

Key notes: they obviously had much better gear than I had, as I had only just hit 80 and my GearScore was only 2700 while theirs was in the 4-5k range. You do the math.
If this is what it's commonly like at level 80, then there's a very serious problem.

Maybe my translation is better? :D, It's basically a group of people with their internet-penis so far up their own ass, they could fit in with (insert worst enemy here)

"I'd totally vote for Palin"

(EDIT:The discussion later in this thread reminded me that some idiot once said "Hitler was a communist".)

I live in Alabama, so these moments happen often, and it has become less rage inducing over time. It probably helps that I'm forced to go to a crazy fundamentalist Baptist church too. Most of the idiocy comes from the far right religious fundamentalists and other far right nuts. There's a couple of vegan hipsters that annoy the piss out of me but they're not half as quote-worthy.
I can top that. A man running for mayor in Houston, Texas said, "We need more Jesus and John Wayne in Washington, D.C."

Think about that he wants a deity and a gun toting cowboy to run America. Why don't we throw in Ol' Chuck Norris too? I really find it hard to believe people got mad at Obama when he said people in the Midwest cling to guns and religion when this idiot can seriously run for anything.

What I'm about to say may sound stupid but why do they teach things like the American civil rights movement in a history class in Belgium? To be honest here in America what we learn about other countries is extremely limited because let's face it most Americans seem to care only about the US and our history and couldn't care less about the rest of world.
And that is why most American's are the laughing-stock of the rest of the world, as in the video of youtube fame "Americans are not stupid". European schools consider it important to learn from the history and customs of other nations as well. The civil-rights movement in the States impacted Europe as well.

A paraphrased quote from generic hot moronic girl #487459 who was in my history class "Oh really I didn't even know there was a first one". When we told we would be covering World War 2 that year. It was the type of moment that you imagine even God facepalmed.
Holy Failed Creation Batman!
Haha what a phrase.

I remember another thing, again related to WoW, I'm afraid.

This video got posted on www.MMO-Champion.com, if a person in a guild who took down Lich King 10-man for the first time. The guy starts flaming everyone in the guild, up to and past the point where he should have been guildkicked 14 times. The further into the conversation they get(Ventrilo convo), the bigger an ass he makes of himself, even admitting that he was invited to the raid, but didn't show up, despite people trying to reach him for ages.
He spouts wave after wave of personal attacks, which all the other people on VT just laugh up, ranging from "You are all noob players, I'm the best player on the server" to "My girlfriend is model hot, I bet you are all faggots who live with your moms." It'd be pathetic if it wasn't so damn funny to listen to.

If anyone want to hear it(incredibly funny), search for Peachy Keen Lich King on Youtube.
*Youtubes*

That is hilarious, thank you for posting that.

Bonus for the insult "Why don't you go make some macaroni cheese?"

Wait, what?

OT: Any example of huge religious ignorance that gives people horrible prejudices. Anyone heard of "The most hated family in America"?

Yeahhh.....

OK, I think I get it now.

I generally stay away from RPG's. When people start talking in terms of DPS and stuff, it seems so cold, so calculated.

I love threads like this, and I've got a fine example:

We were watching Superman Returns in history class (boredom). About...halfway through it, one of the girls in front of me goes "Wait...Superman works in an office?"

Everyone in the back row (including myself) facepalmed at the same time.

As a side note, and forgive me if this sounds sexist as that's not my intent, why are so many of the examples in this thread from girls? Have I missed something here?

All of the internet's perpetual cyclical arguments... ALL OF THEM!
mac vs. PC (vs. Linux) - don't care anymore, I now feel I know all of the points for and against
religion vs. atheism - don't care, see above
PS3 vs. Xbox 360 - don't care, see above but the wii remains separate as a different type of gaming
console vs. PC - you get the picture...

Also youtube comments, and all their cringeworthily unbelievable ignorance.

But yeah, mostly seeing the same arguments popping up every day all over the internet, with the same points being made each time, with everyone flat out refusing to either consider the views of others, or at least have the decency to shut up...

It felt surprisingly good to get that out of the system!
