I have ragequit when the other person or team is being a dick about how awesome they are and how much I or my team sucks.

Example: Team Slayer in Halo 3, my team was just getting slaughtered. When the score was 14 - 3 they just started saying how much we sucked, how does it feel to get raped, how did their balls taste, etc... At the time we were rank 7 or 8, and most likely these guys were rank 30+ who just created new accounts. So we all just quit.

I don't mind losing, I don't mind playing against people who are better than me. I don't stand for those people gloating like they are the best or being abusive for no reason other then to hear themselves talk..

I don't ragequit, but I do quit if the match is hopelessly in the enemy's favor, like the other day I was playing the Bad Company 2 demo, my team was about as useful as an autistic kid with a super soaker.

In fact in Halo 3 if you decide to quit you'll get a message saying something like:

Do you really want to quit?

B- No, I will finish with honor

A- Yes, I am a coward!
That is rather annoying though when you actually have to quit to go somewhere and can't play for 5 more minutes.
But if you had to go somewhere, why would not being able to play for 5 minutes be a problem?
Because you already pulled the "5 more minutes" thing on your parents?
I didn't know they did that, but I like it. It immediately makes me think of some old games that did that. I think Quake would taunt you for trying to quit as well. Also, did Duke Nukem 3D do that? Anyway, I wholeheartedly agree with developers doing that if you quit an online match.

Now, I've left a match here and there but it's not so much rage quitting as joining an extremely lopsided game and if I'm going to leave I do it near the start of a match (generally in games that people can join mid match). If, on the other hand, I'm in a good match even if we're losing, so long as I feel I'm doing what I can and just getting bested well so be it.
Yeah but when you leave a game in Halo 3, you lose 10 matchmaking points. I've tried to bypass it by turning off my 360 when I had to go somewhere (like school) but you still lose 10 points. It's really annoying because I'm not the greatest player and it takes awhile for me to build up points in the ranked matches.

Sadly, that's most of the XBox live community. Good thing there is a Mute function.

The only rage quitters who annoy me are the ones who also cause the game to screw itself due to lack of host. Other than that, they don't annoy me, especially since I couldn't care less how big their '1337 g4m3r 3g0' was hurt by having a bad k/d

So.. people really love posting their online videos from Tatsunoku vs. Capcom, eh?
I do it for my friends and subscribers who request it. Plus, I've found some of my opponents on youtube.

I only do it if my opponent is hacking or using exploits, other then that though I am typically have a good attitude. I don't care if I win or lose, just so long as I have fun.

Don't feel too bad about rage quitters in TvC, Aura. The matchmaking system watches how often players quit, matching rage quitters with eachother. At least, that's what I've heard.

Interesting. But I have yet to quit a match. Anyway, what annoys me more is that it was a promotional match. But I just got promoted just now.

The only problem is sometimes you are on a team full of fuckwits against a team full of pros. You CANNOT win. At that point it's easy to jump out.

Ive only rage quited when there is no point playing

Good example is Bad Company when enemy spawn camps so you cant even walk one step with out getting shot through the head.

I wouldnt rage quit if i was just losing mind, kind of like the challange to try and best the other team at the last min.

I don't usually rage quit on Left 4 Dead unless I just joined a bad team. What I DO hate though are Rage Booters, people who boot you for the slightest frikken mistake. Happens a lot on L4D it's crazy.

My policy is generally to only quit when the other team is hacking. When I walk into a MW2 game, and there are flying players aimbotting from the sky, there's no possible way to make that work as a game. There's also no point in feeding them a hundred or so kills. Just quit, and make their powerlvling via hacks that much longer.

If the team is just doing poorly? Them's the dice. And I've seen a game (or five) where my team was getting stomped due to one player, and when I ruin his Nuke run, HE ragequits, and I can run the score back.

I try to avoid quitting at all until the end of a round (TF2, DoW II's last stand). Just make me look bad. Not that's there's much chance of building up a reputation on the big wide internet, but still.

Dreadnought Huron-fal of WH40K novel Flight of the Eisenstien is king of ragequits though. He overloaded his fusion reactor to avoid being killed by virus bombs. "WE DENY YOU YOUR VICTORY"
