Well seriously just think about it like this imagine playing halo and instead of killing you would be raping each other.....that would be messed up.

Murder is not good, But to be honest I would rather be murdered than raped. Also Rape and murderer tend to go hand in hand. Neither are "good" obviously but a game that is specifically about raping a girl is disgusting in my opinion. Also I haven't seen a game where you murder / torture someone with no real motive, especially in such a graphic nature. If i did I would probably find it just as disgusting.

Murder can be (somewhat) justified. However, there are no circumstances where one could justify rape.

You've never seen a game like this? Just to give you a idea of a game like this think of Manhunt seriously that's all you do murder with no motive.....or at least not a very good one.

Doesn't seem right does it? However, killing people can be justified in some circumstances, rape is only ever good for sadistic pleasure and emotional scarring.

EDIT: seems I've been ninja'd,

Though I don't see why sex or sexuality in general should be such taboo subjects. Why should we "protect the children" from something they'll probably do eventually. Especially since sex crimes and unwanted pregnancies are statistically more common in sexually repressed cultures.
Yeah uh..... splattering a fathers brains all over a little child doesn't emotionally scar him, nor is it a sadistic pleasure to beat a man to death. =\

It also adds to rape = sexism / women activist bait, but violence and murder is universal.

I hated Manhunt but at very least there was a story where you were fighting for your life and had no choice but do go through with those actions. Helping a persons morality in such a situation I guess. J-Rape Games are just "theres the girl, now rape her".

there is a simple explanation for such a double standard: society is stupid.
I'm with him.

I'm not sure why one's accepted and the other is not.

You blow off heads in your FPS all the time; but you have a sex scene and the whole world goes nuts over it.

Rape scars for life. Murder just shortens life. Murder is okay.

Personally, I'd rather be murdered than raped.

Because simulated murder is an extension of the natural and healthy phenomenon; competition. It's unfortunately human.

Rape is an extension of neither lust, love or sexual frustration, it's an expression of one-sided power. It's inherently inhuman.

As such, Rape is worse.
Hmmmm...never thought of it that way. You earn a cigar. *Hands UltraJoe a Cuban and a lighter*

I really deemed these acts as equally bad things, but apparently nobody else thinks so. Or just the ones who are leaders of some cult or stupidity group.

The "headshot" example is stupid, A quick painless death vs a long drawn out torture where your most likely get murdered at the end anyways.

I love rape in games, movies, etc. On that note, watch irreversible to see a young nippletastic Monica Belluci (The French guy's hot chick with the rack from the 2 bad Matrix movies) in what is perhaps the most graphic/effective rape in film history. Rape is what we call "the easy road" in story telling, but it is none the less effective for getting the ball moving. When a character rapes another character, we immediately have a good innocent victim, a baby eating monster, and a jumping point for any number of plots. We can have a revenge story, a tale of coaping with adversity, or in the case of boudice ripper, we can have a misleading concept that all women want to be ravaged against their wills (rape = love?). Honestly, taking rape out of media is about as dumb and misguided as taking swearing out of media, or killing, or drug use. It's like this misguided effort to tax to hell cigarettes, alcohol, and illegalize pot. You've gone that far with a great deal of hypocrisy, so how long till all sugar gets banned? We already got trans fat out of the way. When will it become illegal to sell children under 18 a can of Pepsi or a bowl of Fruit Loops? I'm extremely anti-censorship, and the Japanese made a stupid call folding to the worthless feminist movements of the west (who even westerners ignore and don't take seriously).

Real rape on the other hand, is bad, but honestly, who wouldn't prefer to be a victim of rape, rather than a victim of murder? No matter how bad life gets, if you're alive, you can still salvage and pick up the pieces and make the best of what's out there and in your reach. Try doing that when you're dead.

I did not say such things were exclusive to rape, only that rape exclusively offered such things.

The example was referring to cases in games where murder is everyday life vs show skin and associations throw a big fit.

Yeah i can agree with that, I can't believe the SHOCKING Mass Effect sex scene. Laughable that people got angry at that.

Video games and movies should be held to the same standards, and criteria in each should be considered the same.

I think you'd see a similar outrage if someone were to make a game where you play a serial killer, or a customer in Hostel, where the same attention to detail was paid to the killing as is paid to the rape in stuff like Rapelay.
Videogame murder tends to be just half a step up from cartoon violence. Wile E. Coyote falling off the cliff, with blood rather than dust puffing out around him.
Plus (and call it desensitization if you must) violence, even murder, can be funny. See Dellamorte Dellamore, Tropic Thunder, Student Bodies, etc. There is no way to make rape funny.

-rape is fantasy
-going on a city wide killing spree is fantasy
-both are normal fantasies that can be dangerous if expressed in reality

The difference: Western society finds violence more acceptable in entertainment than sex. It's why a kid leafing through a playboy is seen as horrible while beating hookers to get thier money back in a game is A-OK

Proof: Hostel is fine whie 3d rape is shocking (and IMO Hostel is much more disturbing than some anime rape game)

Also, people who support GTA type games as freedom of expression yet complain about another type of game and want to ban it are hypocrits that want to rationalize how their form of fictionalized entertainment is better than someone else's because they like it.
