Is anyone reaping souls yet? How is it? New class good? Thoughts on the 2.0 loot system? Thoughts on Act V?
I'm just about to start, actually. Just wanted to do a quick sweep through the forums before that.BloatedGuppy said:Is anyone reaping souls yet?
Well, even though I haven't seen Loot 1.0, I've seen Loot 2.0 - it was released few weeks ago, actually. I'd say it's good - you get many many items with stats you actually need. And the guaranteed legendaries are...well, OK, though how useful they are is still up to chance a bit. At least they are most likely to roll with a stat that's relevant to you.BloatedGuppy said:Thoughts on the 2.0 loot system?
So is everything still just a generic mess of stats, or are there actual set piece items and items with interesting procs and what not now?DoPo said:Well, even though I haven't seen Loot 1.0, I've seen Loot 2.0 - it was released few weeks ago, actually. There are actual set piece items with nice set bonuses. From what I've seen so far, at least. As for interesting procs, at least most legendaries have unique procs, like summoning clones of you on stun, for example. A friend of mine even had his own treasure goblin who gathered white items and occasionally dropped items itself. Not sure if its new, though - I hadn't played the game before this month.BloatedGuppy said:So is everything still just a generic mess of stats, or are there actual set piece items and items with interesting procs and what not now?DoPo said:Well, even though I haven't seen Loot 1.0, I've seen Loot 2.0 - it was released few weeks ago, actually. I haven't played it. The most I know about it is from what Purge once said in a video. But if I am to synthesize it, it seems HotS to Dota is akin to Hearthstone to Magic: the Gathering - it is simplified and made more accessible. HotS seems to be ditching the laning and so on stages and focusing more on group effort - there would be tasks available on the map, and the first team to fulfil them would win some bonus, for example, pushing the lanes (otherwise they wouldn't really move much). So it's more a case of roaming and doing stuff together. So it is slightly similar to Diretide, I guess (though I suppose the tasks would not always be the same). According to Purge the game would not really be viable for very high level play, as the skill selection and tactics are a bit limited, but it is a great game to pick up and just play for a bit.BloatedGuppy said:PS - You're a DOTA fan, yeah? Thoughts on HotS?
Well now that just sounds great.DoPo said:There are actual set piece items with nice set bonuses. From what I've seen so far, at least. Oh I know you wouldn't have...just curious what a DOTA grognard made of it. It's very evidently less...deep? Less tactically complex?...than DOTA, but I'm wondering if it might not be a gentler/friendlier experience. I love DOTA, but it's not good for my blood pressure.DoPo said:I haven't played it. I feel it is actually something the MOBA scene needs - something that is not e-sport-y like Dota but stiff that is available to just play for fun. And Blizzard seem to also be probably the best people to develop it, so I do expect it to do rather well.
I'll try to dig up Purge's video for you.
No clue but I'd assume so. Dota (and the like) tend to be too...competitive, sometimes, so then the friendliness decreases. Frankly, I myself don't play as much Dota right now (like, a match every other week), mostly because I'd rather play with people I know, rather than risk playing with randoms. I mean it could be great or it could be...not great. The latter seems more likely.BloatedGuppy said:but I'm wondering if it might not be a gentler/friendlier experience. I suppose similar thing can be said about Dota.BloatedGuppy said:Magic can feel very...bloated, at times.
That, and getting pinned into a 50 minute calamity because the game was lost 5 minutes in, and having 45 of those minutes be non stop bitching and recrimination...can get old. DOTA is a game that SHINES when things are working, but when they're not...oy vey...DoPo said:No clue but I'd assume so. Yeah I'm listening to it now. I've always enjoyed Purge, although I enjoyed amateur DOTA more due to the amusing errors. I was sad when TB stopped playing.DoPo said:As a side note, I edited my previous post with Purge's video, just in case you missed it, since I notice you replied to the pre-edited post.
Sort of, yeah. Maybe some of the later runes would make it better, but the first one is nothing that important (well, it's 50% damage reduction for the duration, but I could just get something else instead, still).Weaver said:I'm disappointed with the Monk's new "epiphany" skill. It seems kind of shit to be honest.
Yeah? Lag pretty bad? =\Weaver said:I still wish the game wasn't always online, plenty of server lag with the launch of the expansion.
coming from loot 1.0 system the new system is really good. you no longer get itme that are totaly worthless for your character. every time will spawn with vitality and your classes core stat ex: you will never get a strength only weapon as a wizard or witch doctor. also the action is being phased out now so you can't just buy you gear you actually need to grind for it.BloatedGuppy said:Is anyone reaping souls yet?
