Weeeell, and bear in mind I'm speaking as someone who is getting their paws on a PS4 and am therefore speaking as Devil's Advocate, I suspect that Microsoft is doing the same thing that EA did with Dead Space 3; in other words, they're trying to broaden the net, and make their product more appealing to more people, rather than focusing on 'just' catering to gamers. The thing is, of course, this might fail horribly since the casual market is still likely to look at the One as 'just' a game console, no matter how eager Microsoft has been to insist on its flexibility and multimedia muscle. Even if it DOES succeed and people buy the console for TV, Skype, Football, it won't help the game Publishers, cause it's unlikely that sort of audience will buy anything but Just Dance 2014. =P We could be looking at the next Wii when it comes to drawing in a casual gaming market.
If you were a gamer, I suppose it might appeal if you didn't have a smartphone, or a tablet, or a SmartTV, or a computer, because some of the features might actually be ones you don't already have. The fact that I have three of the four on that list has pretty much removed any interest in getting the One as anything but an Exclusives platform in a couple of years.
That being said, yes, the One is still getting wrecked in Amazon U.K.'s preorders. xP
