It would be imprudent not to have children for the sake of
a) maintaining your figure. You have that figure in the first place to signal your fertility. You will lose it in time due to aging and, in time, putrefaction. Your children will carry on your traits. If you really want to preserve your own youthful image, take a photograph or make a sculpture of it.
b)career. Unless you founded the company, odds are that when you die, no one within the organization will even remember that you existed...unless they won't stop auto-mailing company newsletters to your old address no matter how long ago you died. Your family, on the other hand, will not...unless it is in your culture for them to forget you while you are alive. Retirement homes--what's that all about?
c)you don't like children. You'll come around if you ever do have any children. Unfortunately, it doesn't work the other way around a lot of the time.

A good reason to avoid procreating-
a)You're holding out for a clone. Maybe you want to recreate yourself without your perceived flaws in upbringing or genetics? If the clone develops a whole new set of problems, then you have only your own parenting or the clone's own free will to blame, I suppose.
b) You're a misanthrope. Is that good reason, though? Still, you wouldn't have to worry with getting rid of or avoiding people who were never born, right?
c) altruism. Less for your own bloodline means more for everyone else.

I like my figure now and do not want saggy boobs, seperated abdominals, hippo feet, a bloated stomach, morning sickness, gaining 30 pounds, childbirth/labor, and the following days dedicated to not getting enough sleep and my breasts becoming self serve restaurants, cleaning oozey baby orfices, and the not to the mention the rest of my life becoming the cook/clean/chaffuer for some whiney brat.

You BOYS just want to wait until you get some stable income? You BOYS want to wait until you buy a nice house in the suburbs? You BOYS looking forward to children? Hmmm? HMMM?

Oh, aincha cute ^^
Odd... because there are downsides to it it's not worth doing? Interesting... How did your mum feel about birthing you? I bet she didn't think you were some whiny brat. She thought you were her child. But I guess you hopefully will be getting your tubes tied, that will clearly be nothing but a positive for you since you will never be needing to have kids.
I am not my mother, and my mother is not me. She wanted children, I do not. I'm not degrading her actions, but merely choosing my own. And I am not a whiney brat, I am just not ready now, or possible ever, to -literally- sacrifice my own body and personal life to create a new life, especially in such a world where so many children have no blood relatives to care for them.

I won't lie, my mother did so much for me it's amazing, and I love her and appreciate all she does, and we have a great relationship, but I don't think I would receive the same kind of fufillment she would be having children. Hey, some people like sports, some like art, and some like children. I consider this an opinion more than anything.

Besides, it's easy to see these benefits for fathers, and men in this scenario. Men don't have to carry children around 24/7 for 9 months then go through incredible pain in a high risk undertaking for both mother and baby to have a child. And many of them tend to me much less involved with the child as the child grows older. It just seems as though a woman sacrifices much, much more for a child, and then if she doesn't want to do that, its considered WRONG. I don't want kids.

And what and/or where exactly are my tubes? =.o

It's a shame your mother didn't think like you, perhaps if she had you wouldn't have to talk so much about the negatives of a child as well as ignore the positives.
Wow, thats a bit harsh, Yup snugglebunny your mom should have gotten punched in the stomach a few times when she found out she was pregnant so you could never grow up to have an opinion.
And thats reaaaaal mature. Insult me and my mother. Do you feel good about yourself, chewing out a teenage girl over the internet, because she dares to have an original opinion rather than regurgitate half baked insults? How PROUD your own mom must be ^^

I'll say it again. Our current lifestyles can't be sustained for very long with the current limited resources we have.

Why I will never have kids:

Because the one immature part of me that remains is the part that loves me too much to share anything with anyone but my fiance'.

I can't stand children. Honestly. Everything they do annoys me - The sounds they make, the way they play, how they run around, the messes they make, their laughter... I sound like a creepy old lady, but seriously, every tiny thing you can think of that involves children is something that drives me up the wall.

That, and they take all your money.

Spoiled little...

True enough, there are positives to having kids.

...

...

I can't think of any.

Inconceivable!

Babies cry alot, which pisses me off.
2-6 year olds beg and cry and yell alot, which pisses me off.

I just don't ever want to have kids, at least not until I am really ready...which may be never.

You guys are weird. I love kids and hope to have a whole bunch one day (provided I have a willing wife). They don't stay kids forever, after all, and I really want to meet this person (or people) and be able to do something for them.

The only thing that might change my mind is the adoption thing. There ARE a lot of kids out there in need of homes, and frankly that just seems like awesome thing to do for another human being.

overpoplulation is a lie if you placed EVERY man woman and child on australia EACH person could have quarter acre and youd also piss off yahtzee

ot:i think children would be okay as long as you can support them. in my experience with baby sitting which i do often the kids are fairly easy to take care of. my little sister is 1years 7months old and she'll just chill and watch t.v. unless she needs changed, food,or attention(which she does quite often) its fun to chase her around the house tickling and give her raspberries im very muc in contact with my inner child (maybe that why we get along). also constant watch is required.

I would allow them to play violent video games from an age I deem appropriate, which of course would turn them into psychotic murderers.
Hey I'm turning out okay. Not like I think about killing people everyday.
