Just thought some of us could list some of the books we have recently purchased/enjoyed. Might be a good way to find something new.

ok here goes...

Unseen Academicals- Terry P.

Reamde- Neal S.

Dr. Faustus- Thomas M.

Voices from the Street- Philip K.D.

Dragon Seed- Pearl S.B.

The Killer Angels- Micheal S.

I'm just finishing Dr. Faustus, The Killer Angels, and Reamde. Everything else was entertaining enough. So far I think I might like Anathem more than Reamde.

A Hermit's Cave
Like the sad git that I am -

The Outcast Dead - Graham McNeill... pretty good so far, even if there're a few editing glitches.

The King's Bastard - Rowena Cory... something or other. s'ok... really badly paced, and kinda crappy narrative at times, but genuinely intriguing story.

I know, how high-brow...

Latest one I bought was Terry Pratchett's 'Going Postal,' which was an enjoyable read, and after I visited my girlfriend this weekend she has made me pledge to read a copy of 'The Hunger Games' she gave me, which is only fair since I forced her to read Stieg Larsson's Millenium Trilogy and Pratchett's 'Maskerade.'

I just recently bought the same book and so far think it's pretty decent, though far from the best I've ever read.

And in the last couple months I've bought Gardens of the Moon,Deadhouse Gates, Memories of Ice and House of Chains, the first four books in the 'Malazan Book of the Fallen' series.

Dune and A Dance With Dragons were my two most recent ones. Both are very good, though I'm finding Dune a bit...

Last three from oldest to newest:

Changes - Jim Butcher

The Art of Deception - Kevin Mitnick

The Art of Intrusion - Kevin Mitnick

I realised now for how long I haven't really got any new books :( I'll have to remedy this soon.

Dry as it is, you have to admit that Dune has a good deal of Spice as well.

The Lies of Locke Lamora & its sequel, Red Seas Under Red Skies, by Scott Lynch - excellent fantasy.

The Name of the Wind & its sequel, Wise Man's Fear, by Patrick Rothfuss - also excellent fantasy.

Storm Front & its first sequel, Fool Moon, by Jim Butcher - pretty good fantasy, somewhat short and simple with a fairly predictable plot and characters, but nevertheless engaging and immersive, and has an interesting enough take on the genre that it's worth a read.

The Hobbit - I lost my previous copy.

Snow Crash, by Neal Stephenson - haven't read yet, my friend vouches for it.

The Foundation Trilogy, by Isaac Asimov - same as above.

I haven't bought a book on my own in a while, but a friend of mine sent me a copy of Dune as a birthday present.

So far, I'm loving it, my only regret is that ME3 came along to distract me from it...

YES, YES YES YES. Seriosly though, these are all great books. Though, Snow Crash is kinda weird so you gotta be open minded when you first read it. It gets good, but it also has a few....awkward scenes.

My recent book purchases center around my desire to become a better screenwriter. I've bought several books to help me along the way, as well as some general books about acting, the film industry, and such.

I have a very narrow scope right now. I don't buy books often.
