something not shit like Space Adventure Cobra (best anime ever, deal with it), Gintama, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei or even the kind of stupid crazy nostalgia trips that are Buso Renkin (like so many classic shonen fighters) or Penguin no Mondai (like the best kids shows of the 90s)
Just none of that atypical shonen bullshit that gets the most attention nowadays.
Although One Piece wouldn't be a bad thing to check out... Better in manga form though.

If you wanna see an anime like Princess Robot Bubblegum try Puni Puni Poemi which is a two episode OVA spin off of Excel Saga which is also nutty as hell but hilarious my other recomendations would beJamiemitsu said:
Black Lagoon: Seriously this has to be the best anime series ever. It's really action heavy and gun heavy, its like if you took every good action movie of the 80's and nineties and squeezed them together.
Hellsing Ultimate: The ova series is amazing if you ever want fuck with a Twilight fan show them this and they won't think vampires are nice anymore
Blue Gender: Good sort of Mech war against the bugs show which is quite violent with a good story which feels a lot like the book version of Starship Troopers

If you want old anime to give a look at Bubble gum crisis is great 2040(the newer redone crap) is so so, Slayers and Lost Universe is lulzy slap stick comedy set in fantasy/sci fi world good stuff if you can stand it, Tenchi(any) is as messed up tho GXP aint as good, Lodoss war(any) is good fantasy anime,Ranma 1/2 is always good unless you hate comedy Kimin orange road is good and funny, Berserk(a bit over the top FYI) Bastard! (I wish it had a expanded TV series!!!)
Haha, if you want a very existentialist anime, look no further than Ergo Proxy (definitely worth a look, it'll be like an acid trip in some places).BlackHawkfox said:

Woah, woah! I saw somebody put dragon ball kai AND dragon ball Z on their list. WTF? They are the same thing. Supposedly they plan to remove all the filler and enhance it... I'll believe it when we don't see it.
There are alot of solid anime choices here. Black lagoon especially, since it's being picked up for another season next year. One piece is great, although they just pulled a bleach (filler arc in the middle of a storyline arc because they were out of manga to tell story from).
Hunter x Hunter: what this show looks like is a buddy show about kids. A young, innocent boy wants to follow in his fathers footsteps and join the hunters organization. Getting to the exam building itself is a feat where he meets several friends. The hunters exam is a life or death contest where several hundred people fail and possibly die. It's a great show that follows the manga very well and only has one small added filler, which is watchable. Later on they introduce a chakra like power which has one of my favorite explainations for having magic of any other show. For a long time this was only out as fansub, but now you can get it on dvd, and it's well worth it.

Bad stuff = Naruto and Bleach... Seasons after season with 100% fillers FTL.
Well I consider it something for the the gay hating closet bishi freaks, and its a good opener to whats in the closest IE full on boy/boy love dramas. If anything its good for the fan girls at heart. I have watched all of 07-Ghost twice trying to content to dots but frankly it tries very hard to be ambitious with the main characters less so with the others, it dose have the boy love slant feel to it but its more fun that ZOMG BOY LOVE!!!....

I just thought the whole show was really cute, except I felt Mikage coming back as a dragon or whatever that was, kinda spoiled the sadness of his death.
