Alright, here's the last stuff I got:

Disgaea
Dark Chronicle (excellent stuff, definetly pick it up if you haven't yet)
Valkyrie Profile (I only know the second one, though, and thought that was very fun)
Odin Sphere - more action-packed, though. It's a mix of RPG and 2D-Brawler
Disgaea - played/enjoyed 1 and 2...3 sits in backlog

Dark Cloud 1 and 2...recently finished 2. I also bought the first one for 6 bucks but haven't gotten around to it yet. I heard that DC2 is a lot better than the first, but I'll leave that up to myself to decide once I play it.

Valkyrie Profile - Have the PS1 version which now is pretty rare/valuable. Finished off 2 a few years back and really enjoyed both games.

Odin Sphere - sits patiently in the backlog. I did play it a little bit, but got sidetracked with a few other games. I should give it another go soon.

Parasite Eve - recently replayed the first in preparation of the 3rd Birthday. Parasite Eve 2 I had for a long time and never got around to it but I finally recently played through it. It is more of a survival horror game. As for the 3rd Birthday I started playing it on a car trip and its a rather dark game. Dark game + sun glare = difficult to play. I shall try it out soon in a dark room.

Not all that obscure, but I've recently picked up many of Gust Corporation's games, like Ar tonelico and Mana Khemia.

I've been very impressed with what I've seen so far, so consider looking into them if you haven't already.

I would recomend:
Persona 3 and 4
.hack//
skys of arcadia
Persona 3 and 4 as well as Skies of Arcadia are some of the best jrpgs in existence. I kind of avoided the .hack series but was always curious about it.

Aye was waiting for Gust to be mentioned. The only one I actually finished so far is Atelier Iris. I have Atelier Iris 2 and 3, Mana Khemia 1 and 2, and Atelier Rorona that I haven't gotten around to yet. Ar tonelico looks interesting to me but I don't own it or sequels. Something I have been meaning to look into though.

Folklore PS3

Most underrated game this generation.
I always see this game when browsing and never really checked into it. Recently watched a youtube video recommending it. I might purchase it if I see it for a low price.

Recently replayed one of the few JRPGs that I really enjoy: Xenogears [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenogears]....
Artsy, has a unique combat system, great music and is still one of the games with the most awesome and creative storylines that I can remember. Highly recommended. If you are from the US you can get it from the PS store when its online again....
Well then..let me try to make me posting in this thread at least a bit worthwhile:
I actually recently played Xenogears as well a few years ago. Hell, I'd probably enjoy a 3rd playthru and not get tired of it. Xenogears is one of those games that if you got me talking about it you would be here all day.
Well then, let me try to make me posting in this thread at least a bit worthwhile:

There is actually a new album [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myth:_The_Xenogears_Orchestral_Album] by Yasunori Mitsuda featuring the music of Xenogears done completely by an orchestra. If you do know already or don't like it that much...well it was worth a shot >.>

So it appears you have played everything ever made. Kind of defeats the purpose of this thread. Sword World 2.0?
Well part of the purpose of the thread was to challenge people to find something I haven't played. Most posts have stuff I've played, but others have found ones that I haven't.

Oh yes, I do know about that. But, I kind of forgot til you mentioned it. I will definately have to check it out, Yasunori Mitsuda is my favorite composer next to Nobou.

I've completed quite a bit of JRPGs, and still have many many titles in my backlog. Sometimes it is a challenge to find good ones that I don't own and/or have completed. So I'm giving the challenge to find ones I haven't.

My platforms I own at the moment include-
360
PS3
Wii
Gamecube
PS2
SNES
PSP
DS
Saturn
Dreamcast
I suggest Live A Live for the SNES.

The world ends with You is pretty good from what my friend says.

The Shin Megami Tensei games are pretty good too, except with the insane difficulty curve.

The World Ends With You. Play it. NOW.
I've heard nothing but praise for this game, and I do own it. I have one problem though. I'm left handed. It is very awkward to play for south paws I've noticed. I know it allows you to use the ABYX buttons at a control pad, but after 20+ years of using a dpad with my left hand it feels extremely awkward. I might just try to play it the normal way and see if I can survive with using the stylus in my right hand. The movements seem simple enough so maybe it will be playable.
You use both hands to control during combat, and it has a lefty mode. Your logic is invalid.

Personally I had a lot of fun with the Ar Tonelico series. They are silly, laggy, and filled with innuendo, but if you don't take it seriously you'll laugh your butt off. I've only played the first two, mind.

Well disgaea comes to mind, try finding Nippon Ichi software games like Z.H.P for the PSP. one of their best games storytelling wise has got to be Soul Nomad wich has a bunch of extremely interesting characters and an amazing story in my opinion, Also if you are looking for obscure JRPG they got games where the level cap is mostly 9999 and you can grind into almost infinity. you should check it out you can find both disgaea and other games from NIS pretty cheap now adays except lapucelle or whatever it was wich i only found being up to thousand dollars or so.

Eh, I'll recommend the two JRPG's I enjoy most.

Lunar The Silver Star Story. (Origanly a segs CD game, remade for japan only on the sturn, then later to for all on the PS1. PSP just recently release a remake of it too IIRC.)

Lunar 2, Eternal Blue. Sega CD and a PS1 remake.

I have all the different copies you can find that came out for the US markent. (Sega CD, PS1, Gameboy color, and PSP) Good games. I highly recommend them, and haven't seen them brough up yet.

Well, first title that did come to mind was Wizardry: Tales of a Forsaken Land for the PS2. Though it was released by Atlus, it technically is more dungeon crawler-y than JRPG-y and is pretty faithful to the original Wizardry series (which I'm an Uber fan of) so you're going to have to disqualify me there.

Other than that I'm more up to par with the current selection of JRPG goodies on the PSP, and I can't begin a post in this style without starting with Jeanne D'Arc by Level 5. Really a fun Strategy RPG with a nice graphical styling and an interesting take on the history surrounding her. Second suggestion would be Crimson Gem Saga which I found a lot of enjoyment with and a real throwback to older games, though I did have issue with the fact you needed to spent skill points to see what the skill is before you can buy it in the skill tree. Still, a nice fun 2d game.

I was also giving Brave Story: New Traveller a spin. It deserves a mention for the box art alone I think, but I didn't get too far into it before I had to put it down (Not anything against the game mind you, stuff just kept me from gaming in general for a while). Think it's time to put it back onto my game backlog actually.

Another PSP title I would like to say as well is Class of Heroes, but that falls more under Wizardry-clone than jRPG. Still helluva fun way to pass some time, though many do not appreciate that amount of grinding.
