OK, so it's not technically a horror film, it's still one of the scariest fucking things ever made. Bricks will be shat.

Also, Evil Dead 2, for comedy horror, Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer for unsettling and eerily realistic horror, and Cannibal Holocaust for absolutely disgusting and wrong horror.
My dad always tells the story of leaving the theater after seeing that movie and seeing a car that looked exactly like the one the killer drove.

ATTENTION ALL! If you want a horror movie, then go to youtube and type in 'come and get me teaser.avi'. This movie is still in production but what makes it so cool is that its going to be the next Wolf Creek, and I AM IN IT! I am the guy who gets kicked off the ledge, but in the full scene you get to see me get killed haha! I was also the lighting gaffer for the duration of the shoot. CHECK IT OUT! :D

I watched the first [REC] and Quarantine to compare and contrast the two movies and I do agree with you on Quarantine.

I agree that Paranormal Activity was shockingly boring but you didn't like Drag Me To Hell?! That film was both creepy and hilarious! And not hilarious in the 'it's so awful it's funny' kinda way; it genuinely was humorous as well as scary. I loved that film

Do you know if it's out state-side or not? If it is...my video store doesn't have it.

A lot of the movies I wanted to suggest have already been listed.

R Point was a really good horror/soldier movie, it's Korean (I think), and was a blend of psychological and paranormal scares. Another good horror movie with soldiers is Dog Soldiers.
I also really liked Trick R' Treat. Not that it was too scary, it was a lot of fun though.
High Tension, Feast, Ginger Snaps, Black Christmas (the original) are also movies I quite enjoyed. Black Christmas though may not be as good as I remember, since I got to see it at a special 25th anniversary screening and the crowd was pretty pumped.

I usually agree with what you say but seriously? I watched them when I was around 8 or 9 and never found them that bad.

I liked Quarantine, first film in 12 years of watching horrors to make me jump.

I find most horrors boring and rather annoying (I know girls will scream when scared in the film but god damn it gets annoying), although I do love the ways some directors (or whoever) find to kill somebody.

Hills have eyes have some brutal scenes in, my personal horror fav is the saw series (say what you like about them they kick ever other films arse in terms of gore and story, feel free to argue), Hannibal series (red dragon included) are good, waz , scar, untraceable (last 3 are a bit of saw rip offs) and ghost ship is quite good.

Not sure all of them class as horror but there in the same pile for me (I have 400 DVD's all sorted into 4 general piles).

I don't mind watching a slightly dumb film like Saw or Resident Evil. I just want something good or entertaining or actually scary.
If you ever find one that is actually "scary" please do drop me a message and let me know.lol

I have seen many horror films over the years and frankly they just don't make them like they use to or I just started at such a young age that horror films are just too predictable for me and the "scare factor" just isn't there.

I do however, give an honorable mention to Stephen King's The Mist, M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening, and Jennifer's Body. Maybe not exactly for being scary, but at least they were somewhat entertaining to me.

Drag Me to Hell:
OMG a gypsy put a curse on me oh noes! Oh wait I die in 3 days and you're telling me that every single encounter before that day with this demon thing is just so it can beat me up? Oh that's fine then. Way to ruin the horror aspect. Now to watch some woman go mad, yippee...

Paranormal Activity:
Something is making sounds OMG that means it's dangerous and it's going to kill me! (BTW I slept through half of it so I might have missed some bits). The only good bit was the last 15 seconds of the whole film.

I don't mind watching a slightly dumb film like Saw or Resident Evil. I just want something good or entertaining or actually scary.
Wow, the way you put it, it does suck the fun out of Drag me to Hell. Though it's still a good movie and I had a good laughs xD

You didn't miss much with Paranormal Activity. It touched me a bit more because creepy shizzles used to happen all the time at my parents house, but I can understand why it was a bit boring for others

The demonic presence never actually really became a threat more than it let on to be, and that's why I think some of the fear that they were trying to imply on the audience died down a bit.

Resident Evil is more of an action series than it is anything horror, and anyone who is familiar with Resident Evil will be bored with any scare tactics used because it's all used for nostalgic purposes..

Saw I don't consider scary at all. The first movie probably had some chills and thrills to it because it left the viewer curious as to who was creating these scenarios, but after that, the only thing they had left to focus on is the gore and creative "games" they put people through because any twists and turns they threw in there were boring because the main threat became more of a part of the storyline..

I apologize for not having a good horror movie to present in this post... I for one feel that the horror genre is slowly dying because they just can't seem to get a grasp on making the audience feel scared anymore because for the most part.. It's all been done...

Same as sheila though... If you find a good horror flick, could you perhaps drop me a line as well? I'm looking for a good movie that will scare the pants off of me like the good ol' days when I was younger and more prone to being scared pantsless..

Well, congratulations, you're the first.

I've never met anyone who didn't find Alien incredibly scary. I think it's the body horror that does it.

*cue deluge of posts telling me they didn't find Alien scary*
I feel quite proud, being the first an all.

I have always been "exposed" to more mature things, except anything sexual. So I guess I never succumb to the atmosphere or shock of the films.

I apologize in advance for the deluge.

I have that and I thought it was tame bar the obvious scene but even that wasn't too much for me.

Is there something wrong with me? I am not saying it to be that guy, you know the one who says nothing effects him and does all this unbelievable stuff.

One film that did make me think "oh god, what the hell" has already been mentioned, old boy. Just wow.
