Terry Pratchett's books are always a good read. Top Gear is a love-it-or-hate-it type of thing, and a bit more low brow, but I think it's kinda funny.

Not very British, But I can recommend Two Ronnies & The Office (the British one)

Not much else that I know of. Don't eat their food, I guess...

Fawlty Towers - It's John Cleese and you can watch it all in a day as there is only one season.
Uhm, aren't there two seasons made of Fawlty Towers?

I also recommend Fawlty Towers, anything of Monty Python, Blackadder and Little Britain. I haven't seen any other British series in its entirety.

As for stand-up comedians: Eddie Izzard and Michael McIntyre are two good suggestions. However: I find Lee Evans to be at the top of this category. That bloke is hilarious.
you are indeed correct, my appologies

MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS!

Ok, its out of my system. But nearly everything listed deserves to be watched. I find Torchwood to be funny too (cause of its scifiness)

Anything by Ricky Gervais is pure gold, you're mad
Lies!

Anyways I'd say: Blackadder, Black Books, Fawlty Towers, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Hyperdrive, The IT Crowd, The League Of Gentlemen, Men Behaving Badly, Porridge, One Foot In The Grave, Spaced and The Thin Blue Line.

Also depending on taste: Absolutely Fabulous, Are You Being Served, George & Mildred, Hi-de-Hi!, Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em and The Royle Family.

My Family (until the Nick character leaves) and My Hero (until the last series where they replaced the lead actor) are quite good as well.
