I live in an apartment building. I share a total of 4 washers and 4 dryers with 80 other tenants, so it's safe to say there's a pretty good fight for them. I get my chef whites into the dryer this morning, which i needed for work that day, and paid for 68 mins of dry time. I come back down to find my damp load of whites on top of the dryer and a nice warm load of darks in my dryer, on my dime. I't now too late to dry my clothes before work. Thoroughly pissed off, I take a pure bleach stain pen (an industrial strength bleach stick, kitchen use only, this shit will eat through t-shirts) and EMPTY it on the load of darks. jeans, shirts, bras, underwear, socks, I coat everything. It's starting to eat and strip colour out of the clothes instantly. Feeling a little better, I take my laundry up to my apartment, hang it to dry, and post the event here.

Just looking back, what do you guys think? too far? justified?
I have no remorse either way, just wondering how much of an asshole I seem like today.

I think that justice was served. The other person should have just thought about the chances s/he was taking.

Yep gotta go with him on this one. Violence begets violence. Can't wait to see what happens to your next load.

A little over the top perhaps, but they shouldn't think they can pull off that kind of crap and get away with it. I think I'd have just dumped their clothing on the floor or something and put mine back in.

Save the self righteousness, there is enough of that on here as it is. Yes it was petty, and stooping to the other persons level, but the other person was not only stealing, but stealing a measly dime. That's not just petty, but pathetic, not to mention the audacity of it.

I say justified. Whoever took your clothes out of the dryer knew that it was in use and decided to take it anyway. If I were you, I would've left a note on the dryer saying "Well, betcha you won't do that again."

Ah, so it was you who ruined my black clothing!
not unless you live in the great white north,
Is that Alaska, Canada, the north pole or Siberia?

That said, I guess you could say a lot of things about Holland, but not that it's white...

I say good deal, but I'm a bit of an ass myself. It may be over-reaction, but if you're a big enough dick to pull someone's clothes out of the dryer you kind of take that chance.
What about people who throw their laundry in with yours. I have that happen like every other week to me. I had a girl over once and I went to go pick up my laundry and while I was folding we were chatting all of a sudden I reach down and pull out a thong, and its like....wow how do I explain this...
I looked down and there were several other pieces of female clothing.
Needless to say every time I find someone else's clothing mixed in with mine after I've already gone all the way back to my room, I toss it out. One time I rifled through my laundry found a few articles of someone elses clothes and threw them into a washing machine and set it for the super long cycle (its like 2h) and you can't stop it.

Next time you should pee on it.

I don't respond well in these situations. A kid at my school gave me jumper cables and I kicked his ass down a flight of stairs.

Definitely an asshole move on your part OP, but being an asshole to those who clearly deserve it is eminently justifiable. You've just taught them a valuable lesson: Giving your fellow tenants a valid reason to want revenge is not a good idea, because eventually somebody will do more than just want revenge.

You're probably gonna start a chain of back and forth revenge if you keep it up but I'd be lying if I said I didn't think it was awesome.
