True,
Though as a sub clause parents who buy 18-rated games for their kids, who are mature enough to handle the content, are awesome parents.

It's true... you're either informed and a very *cool* parent, or just a lazy miscreant who doesn't know what the term "grand theft auto" means in real life and you don't give a shit about your kid so you don't read the back of the game box... or notice the big *18* logo's on it... or watch the kid play it once... but do complain to Fox Newzzz how evil that game is!

P.S. If you're on this site you obviously fit in category 1 :p
So wait, my mom is a bad parent because she lets me play said games, even though she explained to me that said things are wrong, and such?

OT: Lazlow never was funny. His "shows" were full of bullshit, just like him.
If she explained it to you she was obviously quite informed and falls into the first catagory :O

The parents who do buy adult games for their kids will never get that message. They just buy their kids whatever they want to shut them up, or they let the kids use their allowances indescriminately.

Wow I wish I could say this as well, at parents evenings. Your child can't read because you are a dumb shit who has never encouraged them too, your child cannot keep quiet in class because you have never forced them to do something they didn't want to do in life and they are malnourished because your new car was far more important than fruit and veg!

I would absolutely kill to be able to make a statement like this. This man is a legend but unfortunately like all men who have made any sense throughout history he is due a crucifixion at the hands of a mewling mob of people who cannot possibly be included under the characterisation he has just put forth.

I hate the fact that many parents today are apathetic up until anyone calls them out on it and then they are vocal. They won't teach their kids morals but will attack a school if it criticises the morals of their precious little spawn.

All power to Rockstar!

That's an epic statement.

However my Mum bought GTA 3 for me when I was about 11 or 12. In the end it comes down to if your children are mature enough to handle what they are seeing. If you are well enough informed to make the correct decisions and if you get it right then you're a good parent, no matter what you buy them or show them.

Wait, didn't Rockstar make a Ping Pong game once?

Calumon: I only play Digimon and Jack won't let me play much else, besides LittleBIGPlanet.
Just out of confusion, do you always talk as both the digimon and you in each post
Yep!

Calumon: Here's Why!
I've always found it amusing, but with the explanation as well, just down right funny. I'm rather annoyed that people would message you about it though, it just seems some people can't have fun.

It depends on the parent and the kids.

If we're talking some parent buying their psycho child a violent game to put next to his Halo collection and then complains that it's the games fault her kid is a little shit then they are indeed terrible parents :p

"Our games are not designed for young people"

Well that is a load of bullshit. Id like to see how many people under 18 actually make up the sales figures for GTA games and even RDR. Its the sort of game every kids wants.
But despite that, the statement's true. Their games aren't designed for young people. The fact that young people are attracted to them doesn't mean they're made for them.
I disagree. I believe rockstar does design the games to attract kids because they know exactly what the want now.

EDIT: Spelling mistakes.

I was playing GTA when I was 13, and you know what...amazingly I am not a murdering psyco. its all about the personality of the child (a how the parents raise it)
if the kid is a brat then no GTA is not the best game to give it (a slap would be much better)
if the child is responsible and mature then yes, let them have a go on it, if they show any signs of violence take it away. so boiling it down parents should stop passing on the blame to companies like rockstar when there little timmy runs around the street with a meat cleaver, and look at there own faults.

Well, I have issues with some of this. Grand Theft Auto IV didn't push the boundaries very far in my opinion, so holding it up as an example strikes me as being a bit ironic. Actually content wise it seemed to backpedal away from the elements of games that made "Manhunt" and "San Andreas" so contreversial.

Perhaps there isn't much "pushback" but then again Rockstar has folded every time it's been questioned. The "Hot Coffee" thing and of course the "Manhunt 2" fiasco. I actually lost a lot of respect for them when they didn't fight, and am one of those who has argued that "San Andreas" was a much better game overall than "Grand Theft Auto IV".

Makes sense. These are probably the same parents that let their kids drink booze and stay up late or whatever.
