Rush Limbaugh Defends Video Game Free Speech

Rush isn't a maniac he's just....I really don't know how to put this....Weird.

It's cool that he called people who created video games "artists" in their own right and all, but I still don't agree with some of his political positions. I personally see myself as a Moderate with possibly Left leanings...and Rush can make sense in a lot of cases.

I would appreciate it if he thought a bit more before he spoke, but he is a radio talk show host, there to entertain and give quick and snappy answers, not to give "I Have a Dream" every time he opens his mouth.

I guess my overall point would be, Rush is definitely controversial, and if you happen to not like him, you have good grounds to do so. However, lacktheknack seems to have hit the nail on the head, most people hate Rush based on what they see on youtube or the Daily Show.

Just my 2 cents though.

This is actually even better news than most people might initially realize. Sure, videogames have opposition coming at them from all sides of the political play field, but there's more than a few lefty liberals that think this law is a fundamental betrayal of Amendment #1, so up until now it has unfortunately been the right-wing side that's posed the biggest threat. But now one of the right's biggest and loudest pundits is coming down hard on this law too, and like it or not, Limbaugh does indeed have quite a large following. So, if the opposition is eating away at the support for this law on both sides, then it seems to me we have more than a fighting chance of getting out of this unscathed.

Which isn't to say we're out of the woods yet. As of right now there is still a fairly large threat posed by the very nature of this bill that not many people seem to take into consideration; that it is essentially a wolf in sheep's clothing. We should remember that this law is very indirect with it's intentions. True, the ultimate goal is to regulate the sales of videogames, but the face that's being presented to the public is one of concern for the little children. The bill is all about keeping the big scary gunshootdeathkill games away from the innocent and impressionable minors of the world, and to the average joe/jane shmoe walkin down the street, that sounds like a noble and reasonable endeavor. Never mind that there is no legal precedent in place regulating the sales of any OTHER forms of entertainment, because THEY'RE all protected under the constitution, and most entertainment retailers only impose they're OWN individual regulation of mature materials to minors.

At least this one time, Limbaugh is on the side of reason. Let's hope this becomes a habit!

I've read his opinions and heard his shows and shit, and he isn't nearly as bad or crazy as everyone says he is.

Because most people saying he is crazy don't listen to his shows and only have heard soundbites that are generally taken out of context. Probably by TDS.

Listen buddy, I've had a chance to listen to ol' Limbaugh on multiple occasions, and lemme tell yah, the impression I got was not one of rock-steady sanity and reason. One particular moment that stands out in my mind came right after he had just stated some profound fact or conjecture. I forget exactly what the statement had been, but instead sighting any kind of reference, he instead gave his nation-wide audience this little speech that struck me so dumbfounded I am now able to repeat it word-for-word: "Now I didn't get this information from any expert on the subject, we don't have experts on various subjects come on this show because I AM an expert. on everything. Now ..."

Swear to god, that was the explanation. Now I realize that there is missing context here, but I don't care WHAT context there is, was, or ever could be, anyone who says something like that to a nation-wide audience simply has got to have a few screws loose. And don't you go telling me he was only kidding, because that's bull puckey and we all know it.

Still, as others have said before me, We need to take any help wherever we can get it, and like I said in a previous post, Limbaugh could prove to be an extremely useful and powerful ally indeed.

I don't really know enough about Rush Limbaugh to have an actual opinion on him. I don't pay him enough attention. But nor do I pay any attention to a lot of people with extremist views. Much rather just watch the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

It's a good rule of thumb to avoid any "news source" with a political agenda. No matter what the politics, they tend to be utter idiots when they decide that the other side is "The Great Satan" and can never be right on anything. This is a major reason that I hate our current political climate in the U.S. And I'm not JUST hating on the Republicans for this.

However, despite however you feel about Limbaugh, you have to admit that in this case he is right. If it bothers you so much, comfort yourself with the fact that even a broken clock is right twice a day.

The Rally to Restore Sanity? No... I really would of liked to, but there was no way I would have the money and time to make it to the rally. Did they do anything special?

It was fun and the atmosphere of the crowd was excellent and the signs and costumes were fun to.
But as for guests how does the Mythbusters, Cat Stephens, Ozzy Osbourn, and Roots sound for special.

I do not like Limbaughs political view. I actually find it disgusting. But I will be honest and say that he is actually an intelligent political activist. To say that he wasen't this just because we don't share the same political views would be narcisist.
BUT I will add that it is not Schwarzenegger and California he attacks in the statement, rather the goverment (even though the bill is from California).

Forgive me for not knowing who this Rush Lim-something is, but he just seems very liberal (as in the very meaning of the word liberal; NOT having the government control everything).

I don't know what to think about this. I mean, I really hate Rush Limbaugh's pro-right wing politics, and yet here he is defending video games' rights to free speech. One particular thing I'd like to highlight is this gem:

"If you're gonna start saying that video games are raunchy, then how the hell do you leave cable television alone?"

Yeah, Yusef isn't crazy at all. That guy had a run in with some radicalness but he is normal. The fact is that people are trying in every way to shit on John Stewart's rally, which was actually a lot of fun.
