But really, even though i agree with the many up there who say most people aren't even worth saving, i'd do anything to save those i do love, and if the rest of humanity was saved in the process well...Good! but i ain't doing it for you...

I find it hard to wrap my mind around the idea that anyone could say 'no' if it actually came down to it. One life for billions. It's no question at all.

Hell, I put my life in danger a couple of years back coming to the rescue of some poor bastard who was being beaten to death in the street by two junkies while about a dozen other people just stood there like it was happening on telly rather than right in front of them. The only acknowledgment I got was the ambulance man telling me to get out of the way so they could scrape him off the road and examine his massive cranial injuries. I didn't even pause to think that I'm eight stone of nothing with arms like pipe cleaners- I can't just stand there when other people are threatened. I have to get involved. Maybe I read too many superhero comics.

I never said "No one" I said more than half the people on this earth aren't worth saving.... There are a LOT of fuckin people on this planet, most of which, are worthless.

My opinion... Earth isn't focused on a common goal... we should be focusing on space travel and inhabiting other worlds. Earth is old news.. and who knows when it'll turn on us. But everyone is busy with their religions and politics, making too many damn kids... we're just wasting away. There are plenty people who are worth saving, but they're too few to counter the mass amounts bastards that control everything.

Human beings are, generally speaking, selfish and stubborn. The day we stop all this BS, and start advancing is the day I'll change my mind on whether Earth is worth saving.

Oh... and I live in the bay area of California.... 45 mins from San Francisco. And I am no hippy.

Also I am one of a very small minority that sees that my life is a small insignificant speck in the universe. Humans on the other hand could do some great thing given enough time. So I think I would be willing to sacrifice myself, If my death would mean the continuation of our species, and a future of infinite possibilities.

This is totally true. Mankind may very well be the only truly intelligent species in the entire Universe. There could be life on other planets but it's possible we are just a fluke. It's possible no other creatures have ever questioned why they exist or what lies out in the reaches of space. To you people who wouldn't sacrifice yourself, are you really saying you're willing to destroy the Universe's only hope for understanding its mysteries? Do you really believe your pathetic life is more important than possibly the most amazing beings to ever live? Mankind has so much potential, and you are so selfish you're willing to throw that potential away just so you can live out the rest of your miserable life alone on some other planet. You are going to die someday anyway, but I can guarantee if you choose to betray the whole world so you may live that your death will not be nearly as meaningful or important as this one.
