From Final Fantasy 10, the ending cinimatic...

Where Tidus jumps off the airship to become a spirit/dream again, and continuing afterwards with Yuna whistling for Tidus on the dock... I was crying tears of sadness the entire time... It was just one of those love stories that got to me is all.

Its between Heavy Rain, that game was emotionally making me cry while trying to find my son.... I cried tears of anguish and joy.
But I have to go to when goofy died in KH2, do you know how FUCKING pissed I was? I was literally going out of my way to level sora to the FUCKING max to rape those ass hole robe wearers for killing my favorite comedic relief in the game. Only to start wheeping and crying after learning he wouldn't come back, then wheeping and crying when he came back to life.

BUT WHAT REALLY TAKES THE CAKE FOR ME IS

The ending in Portal 2, after wheatley berays you, only to have to toss his life into space, only to see Glados let you live a happy life, but loses her human self. I'm sorry but that also made me cry, almost break down and cry in my chair when that song started playing with turrents singing, and dammit, I knew several of those words, quick realization, crying, companion cube, crying, and then happiness.

When your dog, the dog that waited for you for 30 or so years to make it out of that prison, jumps in front of the bullet for you. I screamed at the game and scared my roommates half to death
Words cannot describe how much rage was going through me when that happened. Shooting that guy in the head at the end was satisfying, but I really wish I could have made him suffer more. That was probably the most emotion Ive ever expressed at a video game.
oh hell yes to this, it was a super depressing scene, reminds me of that japenese dog in many ways, infact, I shot him in the nuts, knees, arms and then head, enjoy death now, you fucking prick.

1st place: The (supposed) Death of Sgt. Avery J. Johnson, Halo 3.

2nd place: FFXIII: Sazh's kid turns into a crystal, and later makes it look like he killed himself.

3rd place: Ending of Halo 3, Cheif and Cortana essentially wait to die, but then discover that they're lost in space, floating... drifting.... waiting.

last place: "Mama Mia!"
I literally yelled at my tv when I saw that happen, I was super pissed at Vanille and at Jihl for that, mostly Jihl though. I had to pause the game and walk away for a bit so I could get over it, thankfully he didn't die.

The part in Pokemon Red and Blue Mystery Dungeon where the main character dies, * sniff* never had i felt so much sadness over losing a fictitious character.

Wait, that got me thinking... Has there ever been a game where a major player character has committed suicide and not come back?

Well since it's so recent the one I can think of is the inFamous 2 evil ending.

The point where you slowly kill Zeke, he continues to try and get up and shoot you but you keep shocking him again until he stops moving. That was pretty horrible, especially after the Easy Going mission.

Also MGS3 when

you kill The Boss.

Uhhh..... If we're not counting sacrifices then I don't think so. I know there have been a few games where the character was about to before they were stopped, but none that I'm aware of that killed themselves and not came back.

You, sir, have got me thinking.

Many death moments in Metal Gear Solid games. Especially the demise of Olga, Emma, The Boss, Sniper Wolf. I am EXTREMELY tear-prone when playing the MGS series. God I love Kojima.

There's been a lot. I'm very emotional and it doesn't take much to set me off.
Especially when a character dies.

Saddest: When Shadow died in SA2, I was about ten at time of playing, I was inconsolable. Nothing could make me stop crying at all. It took me hours before I could finally stop the waterworks. Then a few years later, Sonic Team makes a bs answer and brings him back. It was much more poignant and emotional with him dead. 'sigh'

Oh HELL NO!!!: Playing ME1 and Virmire. Hate it! It's the only choice in both series where I can never say "That was the best choice". It's impossible and I always feel depressed and inhuman and I'm always subdued afterwards. I usually avoid the diplomatic approach to the final battle just to gain the satisfaction of shooting the bastard. That was for my comrade!!! This might also be why working for TIM in ME2 was a horrible aspect.

Well...I kinda play games where <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.135672-Neutral-Drow-reviews-A-Drug-That-Makes-You-Dream>sadness <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.163769-Neutral-Drow-reviews-Kanon>is a <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.206764-Neutral-Drow-reviews-Kana-Little-Sister>major goal, and one they succeed at <url=http://img862.imageshack.us/img862/1760/kana34.jpg>very, <url=http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/9381/kana35.jpg>very <url=http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/3777/kana36.jpg>well. Setting aside those types of games, though...

Probably Final Fantasy VI, immediately after the fight against the Ghost Train. You know what I'm talking about.

Watching Cyan's dead wife and son board the train, hearing their last words to him, knowing there's nothing you can do to save them...

I'm serious. I described that scene to someone who hadn't played the game, and I very nearly couldn't finish, because my throat started to seize up.

FF VI was the best one in my opinion. There was just so much character in those little guys, much more than in the shit they make now... -_-
Agreed. That game had so much emotion in it, not just sadness, that I don't really have a saddest moment- I need a top three for it:

3rd - Gau meeting his father - poor kid
2nd - The town of children where you meet Terra (I can't remember the name)
1st - World of Ruin itself - you just finished learning everything about the world and it's gone. Over. Ruined. Even if you beat Kefka, the world isn't going back to normal and you're going to destroy all magic.

Makes me wish that Square-Enix would look back at what made them good to begin with... And I need to play it again

The ending to Legend of Legaia

Wild Arms 4 was also pretty sad.
