You mean the Xbox isn't just a simulator to teach children how to be aggressive and murderous?
STOP THE PRESSES!

As many people have said before me, if this is done properly it could actually teach kids that attacking people aimlessly might actually be a bad thing.

Unless of course their plan is just to give kids a controller for 30 minutes and say, "learn something."

I can see the logic, but I'm not so sure about how well it will work in the long run, to be honest. But then again, there could be hope...

Seems like killing the hooker is better than having sex with her, or at least for your penis.

Anyway this is a bad idea.

That is actually a pretty good plan. Hopefully it works.

Although, I can tell the difference between real life and video games quite well. The basic idea: no respawns.

Were we all that stupid back then?
To be fair, they're 10 years old, we were all stupid bastards back then.
But we couldn't tell reality from fantasy?

Shit...
Wish I could remember if I could or couldn't.
The line between the two was definitely more blurred.

I do remember that this was the one problem that my parents had with my gaming back in the day. They wanted to be sure I knew what the difference between reality and gaming was. Thankfully, they had already pretty much taught me this via the medium of a lot of book learning (I liked to read), and movie watching, so they had nothing to fear.

But I suppose if the parents are letting 10 year old kids play GTA anyway, then we might have a little bit more to worry about them not knowing the difference between delusional fantasy and life.

I like how they're just taking the "THE CHILDRENS, THEY ARE INNOCENT, YOU CAN'T DO THAATT" and skull-fucking it.
I wholeheartedly agree. Children are far from innocent anyway. I have 7 year olds telling me that they're gonna screw my girlfriend and shank me.

Lois this is NOT my batman glass D:

Well actually.. I am more in shock that.. the government for once.. instead of scapegoating the games... is actually doing what the parents SHOULD HAVE DONE long ago, and teaching the kids the difference between reality and fiction?

Also.. why is it we need this now... yet there were no Three Stooges flashcards in the 40's-50's?

Sounds patronising as hell to me.

Because hitting somebody with a pie, and pulling their nose until it snaps back and the resulting force whips them into a wall, are both as funny in real life as they are on TV.

Oh wow... Very unorthodox gotta give them that :) The day you realize something is wrong with kid gamers is when 10 year old kids start walking the streets with fake AK-47's and start imitating Counter-Strike. Scary.

That was years back of course, now kids are never seen on the streets back home because they stay at home and play video games like any good gamer should :D

Ah, OK. Just wondering - there was a lot of it after all.

That and a number of other things, but yeah. I think this is a fairly reasonable idea. What is sad, though, is that schools here feel the need to teach kids the difference between right and wrong. Shouldn't that really be the parent's job? Then again, everyone's different and it is indeed easier for some children to mix up fantasy and reality to an extent, but I'd like to think people grow out of it at some point. I'd say parenting has really gone downhill, but that would probably evoke a 'no shit' reaction of monolithic proportions.

Still though, I have to give them props for thinking outside the box and not jumping on the same old Jack Thompson bandwagon.
