Can I just say I'm sick of seeing really hopeless, obnoxious nerds ending up with unrealistically Hollywood fake implant "gorgeous" girls?RAKtheUndead said:I'm hardly surprised. The entire set-up of Scott Pilgrim never grabbed me as particularly public-friendly, let alone any good. Not many people actually want to see a film with a nerdy main protagonist, particularly one which is fighting for a fantasy girlfriend, whereas there's still a lot of nostalgia for the action stars of The Expendables.
Hell, I wasn't even around for the hey-day of the characters in the latter, yet I'd still be a lot more interested in it. It strikes me as a lot more fun than the offensively unrealistic portrayal of a loser getting the girl in the end.
Seems that way to me, too, except it doesn't look nearly as good. I haven't seen Scott, I think I'll just read the comics.Stickwell said:The movie seemed like a company trying to get a bit of the action that Kick-Ass did...
Totally agree with anything said, even the stuff I have not quoted.Frybird said:I love the Comics and i cannot wait to see the movie, but there is nothing really for me at stake here.
Successful troll is successful. I think this guy deserves a medal since his post was so original.Phoenixlight said:The actor who plays Scott Pilgrim is just awful and is the reason the film isn't doing well.
That's also what I thought when I saw the trailer.SantoUno said:Many people must have thought it was a stupid, childish, concept. That's exactly what I thought when I saw the trailers.
Yes i am, so very, VERY much aware that the movie is delayed till next year.Crazy_Bird said:Totally agree with anything said, even the stuff I have not quoted.Frybird said:I love the Comics and i cannot wait to see the movie, but there is nothing really for me at stake here.
But are you aware my fellow German friend that our country won't see this movie before January?
I am really infuriated that we are the last place on this god forsaken earth to get a release of this film.
Probably it will be an indie/arthouse thing and you have to look all over the place to find cinemas showing the movie.
And I've been to London a week ago (should have waited a little longer). Probably I will see the film in France. Maybe I find a cinema that shows Scott Pilgrim with the original audio.
hate to break it to you but the movie is more action focused than anything else.RAKtheUndead said:Congratulations, you've just discovered exactly why I don't want to watch this film. Any film which focuses primarily on romance immediately drops me as a prospective viewer.eclipsed_chemistry said:C) want to see a movie that actually provides a new and interesting take on modern relationships in the context of today's wired generation world
You're missing the point here: I'm not the target audience. Am I a nerd? Hell yes. Do I enjoy retro video games? Well, considering that I've played games dating back to the 1950s and 1960s (no, I'm not joking), I think you can extrapolate your answer from that.eclipsed_chemistry said:Come on, ALL OF YOU are the target audience for this movie, and you refuse to see it. WHY?!
Do I enjoy films with a focus on romance? Absolutely not.
I'm not trolling, the guy is just a shit actor, he's awful. I would have gone to see the film if it had used someone else as the main protaganist.ShadowDude112 said:Successful troll is successful. I think this guy deserves a medal since his post was so original.
FUCKIN' CASUALS.tomtom94 said:You just answered your own questionwrecker77 said:And I honestly don't see the appeal of the expendables. Yeah all the great actors,
OT: I guess it's a combination of the Cera-haters and the fact it's going up against a film with an amazing cast (which, let's be honest, the "casuals" are more likely to want to see).
Ah well. I haven't seen either yet, I want to see both...but I need money.
There's a big difference between a film having romance elements and being a 'romance' film. Scott Pilgrim is effectively, amongst other things, a romantic comedy. The main plot point of the film is Scott trying to get with a lady. Star Wars (at least definitely not the original trilogy), isn't. Just because Han Solo is fond of Leia, doesn't make it a romance film, because that's not the film's main focus.fullbleed said:I can't think of a film in recent years that DIDN'T have romance in it...
You seem a little bit angry. Let me break it down for you so that you can at least try to understand why some of us aren't really that excited about Scott Pilgrim. Essentially, we're being faced with this:fullbleed said:Oh and people saying they don't want ot see it because it has elements of romance in it can fuck off. I can't think of a film in recent years that DIDN'T have romance in it, even the fucking Expendable had a shit romance sub plot. All the Expendable has going for it is it's hyped up cast and once the first people have seen it and found out its shit it'll drop off the charts, Scott Pilgrim will have greater word of mouth and will build up a following.
