Series that need to die

I'm going to do something relatively strange, by net standards, and give reasoned opinions -

The Simpsons - despite a phenomenally good run of seasons, they've run out of ideas. Stories are now either absurd or recycled, characters are horrible parodies of themselves. Example? Ok. Bart started off as a little troublemaker who once shoplifted as the worst thing he had ever done. Last I heard he was a PRE-teen father and in prison

Family Guy - I had high hopes for this when it was released in Britain, but it very quickly devolved into a vehicle for frat-boy humour and graceless, unsubtle satire. There are lots of reasons I don't like it (And I have seen many episodes) but those are the core ones

American Dad, a rebuttal - I haven't yet seen season 4, as it gets released here at the end of this month, but thus far, they've done quite well. I can only really remember one bad episode which relied upon tired old George Bush bashing. Again, many reasons why I like this over Family Guy, but the core ones are a well-thought out sense of humour and genuine characterisation to drive the episodes.

Super Smash Brothers, a second rebuttal - I notice only the hardcore Melee players don't like Brawl, and that's because Brawl is easier to play. Melee is fun, once you get into it, but getting into it is unforgiving - enough, in fact, to completely turn you off it as it almost did to me. Fighting games of any stripe are always going to have one godawful aspect (Usually story), it's a case of tolerating that for the sake of unlockables

Pokémon - down to bad design, this one. I loved the GSC arc of games, but after that we had a bit of upgrading for the sake of bridging a platform gap and then a string of similar games, but with different pokémon. As has often been remarked, building on the RPG element would have paid off but it's something that just wasn't done

CSI - I really liked CSI Vegas for casual watching, but after so many seasons and two bad spin-offs, it's quite obvious that we've now ended up with a poorly thought-out drama with very little substance

Crime shows in general - though maybe there's still potential left in these, for the most part we see shows that focus on the misrepresented technology of crime solving rather than the story behind the crime. This is why I like the Law and Order lot - they don't rely on shoot-outs or clever gizmos to drive the story. Nor do they present crime as a black-and-white case of catch the bad guys. This makes it all the more compelling for me, and I would like to see someone outside the BBC brave enough to take that aspect of crime for a new show

I'm going to say any series that has made at least two bad games in a row. Crucifying a game series because one game was bad is a little harsh, I say give them a chance to make up for their mistake and see if they can release a good game in response to the horrible one. If the sequel to the bad one is another bad game, then I think its time to put it out to pasture, its run evidently isn't going to be a good one.

Sonic Sonic SONIC!....and the Dynasty Warriors series.

I hope Microsoft doesn't force Bungie to make a Halo 4.
Bungie doesn't work for Microsoft.

They separated, Bungie can do what ever the fuck it wants now.
When they were together, Microsoft made the shots, now, Bungies the top dog

The entire Movie movies.. god.. every time a new one comes out I want to stab a baby. And if some one ever tells me they like that crap to my face.. heaven help i don't have any sharp/hot/even blunt objects in my hand at the time. I don't think and jury would convict me for the ensuing actions.

Final fantasy.. stop flogging a dead horse.. (although at least all the games aren't set in the same universe.. so you can at least let it slide a little)

Fallout 3. you never should have been made. *shakes first*

World of Warcraft A game that can actually destroy peoples lives. For gods sake blizzard.. let those people go! You have taken good friends away from me. Please, LET MY PEOPLE GO!

Twilight series Stephani Myers scores a 10/10 on the goth-tard radar.

Twilight movies I know.. technically only one has been made... but.. can ANYTHING good come out of the others?

man.. i just realized this is an awesome way to force my opinion on other people only have it shaded as a for of intelligent articulation.. JOY :D

I got a better one for you...

Something that should have never died: the show "Arrested Development." Funniest show Fox has had in a very, very long time.

I wish the "reality show" fad would finally end.
Thank you, I agree 100%.

Metal Gear Solid needs to end. A new series that is very similar would be very welcome though.

MGS5 will not be Snake. MGS has such a rich plotline it would be a shame to see it die.
Tony Hawks games and Need for Speed games.

Valve games in general, they all look exactly the same.

Halo has done everything it needs to story wise, so Bungie should start working on a new project.

If Sonic Team can't get their shit together than just let sonic die.

Heroes, should have never had a first season, I thought is was just bland.
"genre" movie and just the spoof movie genre in general in its entirety. I think this one is rather self explanatory, as the mere existence of these movies usually insults the intelligence of every person on the planet with even half a working brain.
They had better not make any more Halo games. They finally gave the series closure, and I am annoyed by the endless bandwagon of games trying to be halo.
World of Warcraft. do I really need to say anything here? When the game can destroy friendships and even entire lives, turning people into blobs of flesh, cheetos, junk food, and acme, that communicate through Darth Vader mouthbreathing.

Everything that you like should die.

Everything that I like should last forever.
And if we both like something similar the first statement should overpower the second one, so if I like life...

My votes:

Silent Hill. (I loved parts one and two, however.)

Call of Duty. (*Enough* with the World War II already! Modern Warfare was a great idea, but then instead of going further with that they went straight back to WWII and it just felt so... redundant.)

I think Nintendo should probably stop making Mario games, but I know they wont. It's the problem with a character so iconic - there's always a market for it. If you know it'll sell regardless... which I suppose is really one of the underlying problems with game series in general. If the first one was popular you (as a company) KNOW the second one will sell, sometimes regardless of quality.

I'd also say Final Fantasy - but I'd probably be flamebait for that. So I wont. (Also, I've only played one of them... so yeah...)

Not sure about TV - as I honestly don't really watch it.

As for movie series that I hope will die:
Anything which would be a sequel to a remake.
Those gods-awful Resident Evil movies. (Are they even canon with the game?)
Anything involving the alien, predator or terminator.
Anything Star Wars related whatsoever at this point (This goes for games, TV series... anything.)

Re-making movies that don't need remaking also really irritates me (Willy Wonka, the Thing, the Wicker Man, etc) but I guess that's a different thread.

Remember these are just my opinion, folks! Don't go too hard on the first-time poster... please?

Series's that I want ended, eh?

Well, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one whom says that so-called "Reality Shows" and American Idol need to end...

The Pokemon series needs to end, keep the games though...If I hear Team ROcket's introduction ONE MORE TIME...

Sonic just needs a bit of a boost in the right direction...Prefferably one that leads to him not being in the spotlight. Shadow the Hedgehog, despite being god-awful, at least attempted this...As a response to getting rid of the extra characters, remove them...and you remove my interest. SOnic as a character isn't all that interesting, neither is Tails...Unless you're counting the animated Sonic movie, in which they are characterized well enough. Also, either re-do SOnic X without the human characters, or make a whole new Sonic animated series...THAT would be better then another failure of a game.

I agree with Spongebob, it was funnier back when it first started...

Halo, really, has only two games left under its belt...Not many places it can go since three ended the trilogy. Just have it pump out a couple more books, though...THOSE I enjoy.

Mario, for sure, unless they actually make Peach give Mario SOMETHING for his hard work...

On that note, have Link STOP questing after Zelda...It was good in Orcarina, but got old by Twilight Princess...Honestly, it'd be better if he ended up with either Saria, Malon, Ruto, Midna or IIlia...Just stop making us quest after a princess that gives little to none in return for all our hard work!

I'm appalled to say Star Wars...But...Stop making us play as Jedi/Sith...Its really getting old. Unless you can remove Jedi from the equation (Republic Commando, ROuge Squadron), or make it good to be as destructive as possible (Force Unleashed), or even just have a good story and characters (KOTOR), I can't pick up another Star Wars game based off EITHER trilogy...Unless it does something new.
