Why exactly has this thread reached 13 pages in 2 days
People keep coming in and leaving posts like this.
Because I am the master of thread making!

Seriuosly though, even I didn't expect so many responses. I guess it's true what they say, sex sells.

If in fact we can all agree that a relationship based solely on sex is doomed to fail, then surely one based solely on love is also doomed to the same fate. After all, man is a "carnal" animal.

Casual sex also seems to get a pretty bad rep, which I for one don't understand why.

/rant.
Not all men, apparently.

I personally abhor it because it is my nature to do so - promiscuity disgusts me to my absolute core.
Naturally, I don't expect anyone to understand, nor do I ask them to understand why I don't think of murder as morally wrong.

OP, much as I like him, can't know that "every person on [E]arth requires sex for a loving, healthy relationship."
It's just not possible that he personally knows every living human being well enough to judge that.
But it is our attraction and desire for one another that makes a relationship romantic, if that is not present then we can only really call it friendship.

I'm not going to try and argue with you Max, you obviously have a very peculiar view of sexuality, and I respect that, but a relationship without sex (or the hope for sex n the forseeable future) just isn't going to work.

sorry if you just sit around and not do anything sexual with your partner at all, that's a friendship. i mean look at it this way, you sit around, talk, watch tv but you don't touch one another in any way beyond the occasional kiss, that's friendship
So an elderly couple must be humping like rabbits in order to love each other? I love my parents, but I'm sure as hell not going to jump their bones. If you have a positive relationship, it's a form of love by definition.
You're essentially arguing against the psychological community who has dedicated over half a century to the research of love and relationships. No offence, but I think I'll back them on this one.
Difference of definition between platonic love and romantic love. Romantic love is at least partly sexual.
Yeah, I defined them all earlier in the thread but trimmed the quote because it was getting pretty lengthy.

In my own personal opinion I think that sex is essential to a good relationship, however, should not be the base of a relationship.

Pre-Martial sex is a terrible sin. Sex is something to share with someone you love. and if you love her than MARRY HER! and if you think that you need sex to love someone, you have never truly been in love mate.
Is it Pre-Martial sex if I don't intend to ever get married? :D
yeah it is man.

I grew up in the church and had shite like that forced down my throat. Its only a sin if you look at it that way. I don't need sex for love, I love one guy, but we aren't going to get married and we have sex constantly. You can't tell someone if they have or haven't truly been in love based on your own religious views. Everyone feels love a different way. I'm a cynical ***** and I found love and as far as he and I, I'm not a cynical *****, I'm just a *****. He makes me believe in better things but that's between he and I and whats going on in my own life. Irregardless to the point. For some people, sex = love and they can't have it any other way, so in their own way they have truly been in love.

actually you were defining ALL types of love in the article and it stated LOVE not RELATIONSHIPS. i can certainly love my family members without having sex with them or being in a romantic relationship.

oh and for the record, yes old ppl are still sexually active. why not look up some things about old people having sex, it will surprise you to find out that they are still sexually active.

so will they can DEFINE love, they are defining love and not relationships

Exactly. Some of the people in this thread have a very immature understanding of love and relationships. My great grandfather married for the 3rd time at 86. She was the love of his life. You couldn't look at those two together and not see it, heck its the reason I believe in love. While I know they shared a bed, I doubt they were fooling around as much as your average 18 year old couple. Many people that age aren't even physically capable of intercourse or even sexual activity.
well for one it's not an immature look at it, it's rather realistic. as for your grandfather, i'm pretty sure they are active sexually, you just don't want to think about. he was one of the people that viagra and cialis was made for

Wait, no.
This kind of ridiculous thinking just ends up causing people to marry early, have a night of awful, awkward sex, only to divorce later along the lines.
Sorry, but I doubt that you've either been in love, or had sex with your comment. Both come hand in hand, unless you think you can love someone, and not be intimate.
My bf's brother and brother's wife waited 7 years til they were married. When they finally got down to it, it was FUCKED. They both felt really uncomfortable, since it is basically like shagging a sibling after that length of time with NO below-the-belt action whatsoever.
Yeah exactly.
And to add to that case example of no sex before marriage is idiotic:
I've a friend who is so sexually frustrated & an evangelical head-job that he is marrying his first ever girlfriend who he met. He started going out with her 6 months after meeting her in his first year of university & and got engaged a few after that. He's due to get married this summer.
His bachelor party is a meal with his parents & he has invited no one his own age to his wedding. His older brother thinks he's an idiot, and me and my friends have bets on how long the wedding will last - 5 years maximum.

As my friend describes it, his honeymoon will be awkward bumbling, 1 minute of " ow, ow, ow" and then 45 minutes of crying.
That's another reason why sex should be before marriage every time.
Sounds like your friend could use a good smack upside the head.

Personally I've never understood a person's willingness to follow rules and standards set by books thousands of years old. It seems like it'd make more sense to update those books more than once every century or so. Then again I'm not a religious person and will never really understand someone that is.

I feel that if you don't find out you're sexually, that is to say, physically compatible early then later when you go to bang your wife/husband and learn you aren't compatible in bed... Well it kinda throws a wrench in the cogs.

I ABSOLUTELY second that. Turians are so cool, and so... sexy. True, that.
Turians? SEXY? I didn't know those two words could co-exist in the same sentence.
Sacmola... [sic! haha] have you SEEN garrus?
I think we've gotten way off topic here... Cool. I personally never found Garrus that sexy or any of the Turians for that matter. >_>

OK, well I've got to admit that Nihlus is better-LOOKING, but Garrus is the one with the great personality (not to mention his lovely voice).

Anyway... sorry, I shall say no more about Turians.
I liked Wrex's voice more. >_>

Ah. Wrex was a bit meaty for me. Too stocky. Too gruff.
I liked him, he was hilarious. But on topic... Sex is great, yeah? Seems to have been the general consensus from what I've seen. More YAYs than nays. ;D
