There's a difference between liking a race and being attracted to people in that race.
Although you may not find some people of a particular race attractive to you (in the OP case blacks) that doesn't mean that you can't like people of that particular race.

Heres a handy scale to show you what I mean:
- Attracted to
- Like
- Neutral
- Dislike
- Hostile

Being attracted to a person is a step above liking them. That's why we get married, to show that we are particularly attracted to a specific person.
So no you are not rascist for prefering white chicks over black chicks.

Plus for all we know that black girl that you were talking to was just messing with you.

I have always found this logic amusing.

It's like saying me being sexually attracted to females and not males is sexism.

Studies show that babies respond more affirmatively towards people of the same race as themselves and are more likely to do the behaviours which endear us towards them around said people.

It is most certainly not bullshit.

The title talks about babies being born racist. But if you read the article, it states:
"In 2006 Birgitte Vittrup recruited from the database about a hundred families, all of whom were Caucasian with a child 5 to 7 years old."
Thus, I call bullshit. Sensationalist bullshit at that.

I'm going to have to ask why you decided to include this particular line of thought.

Sounds like hate-baiting but I'll wait.
Hate-baiting?
It's simple mathematics. I'm guessing he doesn't find all white women attractive (more power to him on a Saturday night if he does), so, how can he safely say all of an even larger group is unattractive? It simply shows a blindness to the range that is out there.
See, you didn't have to wait.

Sexual attraction is not a choice. It's like accusing a man of being a male chauvinist because he's gay.
This.

Most black people, I don't find attractive, however there are a few that I am really attracted to. Different races have different physical attributes and physical attributes are what make up sexual attraction. It's like white men prefering black women or white women prefering black men.

I have a bit of a thing for Japanese and Chinese women. I like short women and I like little breasts. The black hair I find attractive and and skin colour I find pleasent...

Sexual preferance doesn't make you racist, calling people ugly because of their race is racist.

All I can suggest is that you equate it to having a hair colour preference, but it's not a complete barrier, after all, you've not seen every black woman on the planet, so you can't say that they're all not your type, one may have all the attributes that really do it for you.

I'd say that from the few arab women I've seen, they're not my type, but I'm sure there's some stunningly attractive women of that type that I'd jump at the chance of.

In my experience, you can have a 'type' that you like, but then someone can come along that doesn't 'tick any of your boxes' but just is perfect.

if you can be friends with a black woman, then you're not being racist.

If you want to be crude ask her if her not wanting to go down on a black girl makes her sexist, racist, and homophobic! :D

It's entirely natural to only be attracted to people that you subconsciously view as being part of your community. We naturally view people of different races as outsiders unless we were brought up in regular contact with them, and because of this, we subconsciously think of them differently to people of our own race.
How does race = community? I'm white, I like all races (not like that, you perv), but I hate my community.
When our species was evolving, we stuck together in little groups which would have all looked similar and would have been naturally wary of any outsiders. That's what I meant by community.
Ahh. That might be kinda messed up for me, being part German, part Italian, part American Indian, part French-Canadian. I'm a mutt.
Which one do you identify with the most? I, for example, identify myself more with being Costa Rican, than I do with being Peruvian, Armenian, Israeli, Italian or French. Also, thinking that sexual preference is the same as racism just isn't true. It's almost like if a person said they didn't want to have children, so everyone assumes that that person hates kids. I know it's not exactly the same, but it's close.

thats like saying you discriminate against blondes because you prefer women with brown hair.
Different people find different things visually/ sexually appealing. end of story.

if you had said something like "so she is incredibly attractive, but she's black and I won't date black people" then that would have been racist. if what you meant was more along the lines of "I generally do not find black women that attractive" then that is not racist. Comparisons that happen to involve race is not automatically reacist, unless the bits of the conversation you did not tell us were about how much you enjoyed the last KKK meeting i don't see what the problem was.

When it comes to attraction, it is all about choice. Due to natural tendancies that you are born with, mixed with how you were raised and your external environment that all combine into what type of person you are attracted to.

The point is, your choice for what you are attracted to is just that, a choice. You can either accept that a person has a choice, or don't.

True discrimination doens't factor in until a 3rd party is involved.

If Person A likes person B because they are black, that is fine. Just as if person A likes person B because they are white. It is when person C doesn't approve of person A's choice, because of person C's view of person B's race. That is when you have problems, and that is when you have intolerance...not on the part of person A's choice, but on the part of person C.

Well documented (by someone I assume) my affinity for red hair. So happens those ladies are generally of Scottish, Irish or English ancestry. I have no issue with women of other varieties, but cannot help it that red hair is automatic plus for me since adolescence.
You sound like my Bf or my ex bf on the red head thing. Even though he's got a red head with green eyes (me) I still have to watch him at the celtic festival to prevent him from over drooling. (that and the guinness truck where he insists he is the drop cloth).

Preference in partner does not make you racist. Looks might be what catches someone at first but its the mind and personality that keeps them.

I say its not racist. as mentioned many times already, its preferences. Would you date a guy who was VERY overweight? maybe, but I PERSONALLY wouldn't. If we had to like the same thing, there would be no unique personalities.

Wow, sexual preference makes you racist. It is so nice that she completely by-passes thinking of them as black, actually hating them (IE the definition of Racism), or any of that other good stuff that would litterally make you a racist.

On a side note almost everyone is racist just the reverse kind. They give power to racism instead of giving it the unserious nature it deserves. The only argument against what i have just said is that if we don't keep racism in check it will spread or someone might kill someone. To which I reply, I am so glad you are doing your job so well.

Anyway back on topic no it doesnt make you racist. It makes you human. Sexual attraction is a way to selectively pass on your genes.

It is a scary day in age when we can't think things for fear of being labeled negatively. Just some food for thought.

I leave you all with this final thought: Don't be a racist. Hate everyone equally.

Meh, it depends massively - I'm white and my order of 'if you selected a woman at random from the total population of this race' would be ordered:

Asian (i.e. "Chinese" style Asians)
Whites
Hispanic's/Latino's
Asians (i.e. the Indian/Pakistani sort of Asians)
Blacks

That said, I have meet sexy black women and unattractive asians, so its purely an 'average' of each race. Its not racism at all, its what your brain finds pleasing in the features of a woman.

Well, I dated a really cute black girl so I have no idea. I really have no preference. My friends joke that I have dated every race, so next will be albino. Is albino white?
Albino is a skin pigment disorder, not a race.
And you deserve a high five if you've dated an eskimo!

OT: I always thought that what you grew up around determines what you think is attractive, Freud said that your 'first crush' is on your mother (what a sick-o!), so I guess your family's background might have something to do with it also...

But anyway, I mentioned that I'm not initially sexually attracted to black women.

I know we're probably both blowing the whole thing way out of proportion, but what are your views on the subject?
I feel the same way, I mean, maybe we are all racist, but I'm just not as physically attracted to black women as I am to white women. I think it has more to do with an aesthetics.
Wait, fuck....

What I mean is, I treat all people the same way, regardless of race, gender, religion, or political views. If I think they are an asshole I wont talk to them, and if they aren't an asshole I might consider talking to them.

I don't know why, but I just don't find black women as physically attractive as white women. I don't think it's racist, because it's not something we can control. We can't really control what it is we find physically attractive. So it's not anyones fault really.

I blame god.

Well racism is defined as discriminating against someone because of their race. Saying that you don't find black girls attractive is therefore racist.
