You know, this is going to be my go-to example of misdirected feminist outrage from now on.

Although the fact that this woman is complaining about Duke Nukem is refreshing; it (hopefully) indicates that there are so few serious infractions of womens rights in the developed world that the feminist lobby has time to waste worrying about stupid video games.

Y'know, I'm perfectly happy with this, or anything else that winds up reducing the total sales count of Duke Nukem. I cannot recall a game in the past which has been such a cause for embarrassment. (And yes, I'm counting We Dare, which shouldn't be nearly such a cause for shame as Duke is.)

This is pretty ironic, considering there is also a class-action sexual discrimination lawsuit pending against Walmart by womens rights advocates.

I still find it funny that she is complaining about female rights in a game where men are turned into pigs [http://www.3drealms.com/duke3d/images/walkthrough/e4/e4m8_04_small.jpg].

The only person in this game given any dignity is Duke, and that's a sad thing to feel pride for.

What's also funny is that she makes it sound like you abuse women in the game, when you actually save them from the pig men. It almost makes me think that if they named the mode "Save the Babe" instead of capture, the fuss wouldn't be so bad.

I'm not saying the game is any less degrading, but being anal about it isn't any better. It's a joke; enjoy it, don't take is seriously.

Even more hilarious is that she says kids will be playing it, even though it's rated M. If kids are playing it, the parents are failing.

I know this is way overused, but it's forever engraving in my mind when shit like this happens:

I'll repeat what I said in the other thread about this:
And not a single fuck was given at Gearbox this day.
This just makes my day. Because honestly what is gearbox gonna do? In the end it wont hurt their sales at all. If people want the game theyre gonna get it. If someone mostly buys games at walmart and they want the game then theyll get it somewhere else. The end!

Shelby Knox = Porn star name.
The Education of Shelby Knox = I couldn't even make something up that sounds more like a porn film title.

On topic: Oh, those wacky Nazis feminists.

Remember, when you ban something like this, the problem goes away forever. There will no longer be sexism anywhere if this gets banned.

Shelby Knox = person who hides behind feminism in an attempt to spread her own brand of ignorance.
Sadly, people like her do just enough to stay in the press and keep the ugly reputation of the "FemiNazi" alive and well.

This just tempts me to make a petition calling for Shelby Knox to shut the hell up and get back in the kitchen.

why not? people do it all the time. hence the (really f***ing annoying) saying, "All publicity is good publicity." some people never learn.

*edit* apparently the backwards stuff messed with my ability to quote properly...
Well, the argument that all publicity is good publicity is like... take that Wiigame that people are freaking out. Without bad publicity, it'd stand out as much as a cloud in the sky.

Thanks to its 'bad' publicity, it's probably sold WAY more copies then it ever would if no one had made a big deal about it.

Shooting enemy soldiers you are in a war against is not murder.
I think you'll find it is. It maybe justified by your country, but it's still murder.

Equally, love-tapping someone who lusts after you isn't sexist. Because a lot people do it to their partners, regardless of their sexuality.

Would it be more/less/equally as bad if Duke was carrying guys off, and slapped their ass?

I find it rather funny that people think that this will "cause" people to hit women etc.

Women can be sexist to, what about all those movies where men are the raging sex addict who just want to bone all day? What about those adverts where all men are hyper masculine with toned abs and are impossibly good looking? Why aren't men trying to get these banned because they are showing a negative stereotype?

well i guess once women have finished cleaning the house and cooking dinner all they have left do do is pick tiny little insignificant battles to fight that result in nothing but showing that they have nothing better to do with their lives.

I love how Pritchford seems thoroughly oblivious to the fact that "a love slap on the booty" is if anything more condescending.
This is a game which should never have seen the light of day. If its development gestation of nearly 15 years is proof of anything, that is it.

That said, I think petitions and the like is the wrong approach in applying criticism. Not to mention silly.
Don't get me wrong, I think Duke Nukem has always been a neanderthal exercise in the most base and worthless qualities of this medium, but I won't deny it the right to be base and worthless.
It can fester in its own infantile corner, and I'll just pretend it never existed.
Those who are actually interested in the tripe get to satisfy some absurd desire to revisit a severely aged concept, and the rest of us can live our lives blissfully unawares.
Win-win?
You seem like the kind of guy who likes to play a lot of indie games.

I love how you said that with so much implied disdain.
Yeah, I play a lot of indie games. I play a lot of AAA titles as well.
Not sure what you're trying to to hint at, but very well.
