Eber nodded his approval to the others, standing over a rapidly disintegrating corpse.

"Well done. Impressive form. I have chosen the right teammates."

The German walked forward, flashlight ahead of himself. The tracks seemed to be clear--for now. He let himself relax some, easing the tension out of his taut frame.

"Insane creatures... I have never seen the like," he shook his head, disgusted. "Here. I found this beneath that last one."

You received a small vial of a dark gaseous matter... You should probably delegate someone to hold these sorts of things.

Eber took a moment to mark an X on the tunnel wall in lipstick and glanced back down the tracks. He could no longer see the platform, now. With a quick shrug, he walked forward again.

Kumiko gave the vial a once over. "I guess I could squeeze that in my pocket." Since her skirt wasn't tight, shoving the bottle inside didn't bother her too much.

Like a chain reaction Kumiko looked back as well, it was dark behind them and just as dark ahead.

Rin let them help her down onto the tracks and fell into step right behind them. "So do we have some sort of set goal, or are we just going to explore til we find something?" She shifted the book in her hands doing her best to ignore any nervous thoughts she was having. "I mean, I know we don't know much, but just walking aimlessly seems a bit um reckless."

Yamada followed, eyes scanning the walls. He was happy with Eber's assessment. "Thank you,we do seem to be holding our own." He stayed very near to them, not wanting to lag behind in this darkness. "You are right though, these things...I can't even imagine where they come from."

Kojiro shrugged. "We're just exploring for now...When we reach a fork in the tracks will mark our location. We don't want to get lost down here." Kojiro slowed his walking. Up ahead his eyes were indicating to him movement, even if the flashlight showed nothing. It was almost as if the light was just eaten by the darkness.

He tightened his grip on his sword. "I wonder...if there's a way to map this place..."he muttered watching the darkness come closer. He glanced over at Isoroku and Rin, "Just like before, and well be ok."

Eber mulled it over as he continued: was there even any guarantee that there were answers to find down here? So far, all he had seen were darkness and rubble. The beam of the flashlight touched the tracks ahead, each wall in turn, and up along the arch of the ceiling, repeating the motion in cycle. The humming still hadn't gone away. It felt like his ears were clogged...

Yukimura: From behind, another mouthy orb lunges up from the shadows behind you and digs its teeth into the flesh of your shoulder.

Rin nodded at Kojiro's words and did feel better knowing both him and Isoroku were there. But something about the atmosphere around them made her grip her book tighter. "Ah, so how do you think the others are doing?"

Yamada gave shocked shout and tried to hit it as best he could, but found it difficult with the thing attached to his shoulder. He tried to drive it into the wall with the force of his body and grunted against the pain. "Worry about the other ones!" He was behind them enough already and didn't want to slow them down. He was positive he could take this thing down on his own.
The suffocating atmosphere and the monsters attacking him were just too much. He'd never been under so much physical pressure. As he saw its allies encroaching on them he made a vain stab at the thing, needing to defend himself. "Get off me!" He needed help and he knew it, but wasn't sure what to do.

Kojiro gritted his teeth, "Be more worried about us. Something is coming."

"Yamada!" as much as she disliked it, they did have to consider the amount of enemies.

Kumiko charged back into battle. When she gained enough speed she jumped and let her body almost drop before whipping her foot up to strike a Hablerie on the back of it's head as she flew passed it. The girl threw her hand to one side, Baldr flickered into view once more pushing the Shadow back.

Isoroku drew his handgun, chambering a round and flicking off the safety.

"Are you sure? I don't see anything."

Rin gripped her book tightly and held it in front of her. She scanned the area around them with her eyes. "I don't see anything, but it's so dark that doesn't really say much."

Eber shouted wordlessly, Ne-Zha bursting forth from him to knock the encroaching monster squealing backward into the darkness; he kicked upward to lodge his foot into the next one's mouth, swinging his leg downward to pin it to the concrete while he stabbed the thing. His knife drew in a jagged slash through the top of its soft head and it melted around his sneaker.

He turned to call to Yukimura, "Focus! Are you not here for a purpose?!"

Yukimura: You are able to knock it back, but only for a moment; when it lunges toward you again, it comes with back-up. You are only barely able to hold their hungry mouths off with the length of your weapon. You must summon!

Kojiro appears to be right--for once. The moment the words leave your lips to refute his instincts, a dull thrumming beneath you makes the tracks in the ground vibrate.

A dim light ahead steadily swings back and forth, and it approaches with malevolent intent.

It possesses no body to speak of, wrapped in a cloak of its own darkness with one arm swinging an ancient lantern back and forth like a pendulum. It howls and the fire of the lantern swirls, bursting forth, amplified, to strike your party in its entirety.

Attack!

Kojiro's face twisted, "Ugh!" He held his arm up to protect him from the flames. once they died down, Kojiro charges with his rapier to strike the shadow's lantern back. The sound of metal against metal echoed as he attacked.

"Get it together, Yamada-san!" she shouted more as encouragement than an insult. There were so many it was hard to keep track of what shadows were where. She made a fist and drove it into the face of a nearby creature before kneeing it. Kumiko shook her hand, relieving pain.

Every thought he's had for the past few days seemed jumbled together for a moment. His vision swam briefly and he almost didn't hear his teammates' words at all. He wanted to kill these shadows, protect the others and himself. He wasn't going to let this beat him. They were lowly vermin. He could not fall to them so soon.

As clearly as anything in that moment he saw that man from his dream and just as one of them was getting past his defense, gnashing his giant teeth he shouted something, he wasn't sure what it'd been, but he was sure that he was calling for him. He needed his help to kill them or he might not make it.

Something in him sort of cracked as he shouted "FIONN!" A strong male figure burst from him. He looked like a man, but it was obvious by just his presence that he was more. His cloak flapped as he reared back and whipped his spear around to stab one of them harder than any normal man would have been able to. He seemed nothing but confident if not excited to be in the thrill of the battle, and the effect was contagious. Yukimura's conviction grew stronger with every second and before he knew it his own spear was ground into one of them and his persona had disppeared from sight, residing within him once again.

Rin through her arms and book up to shield herself from the flames as best she could. Rin then quickly rushed in behind Kojiro, as she came up to it she swung her book spine first towards the Shadow lanterns torso.

Kojiro stumbled back as the shadow pushed him off. As Rin swung at his he rushed from the side, slashing into the creatures odd cloak and giving it a swift kick, hoping to knock it off balance.

Like Kojiro, Isoroku put up his arms to shield himself, hissing with pain. As the fire cleared, he quickly decided he'd prefer not to experience that again. He aimed his gun two-handed and fired several controlled shots at the thing's swaying lantern.

Watching Isoroku fire, Kojiro jumped back and charged one more time at the shadow. Quetzalcoatl charged with him, using its feathers to pierce the shadow through. He stepped back and huffed as he watched the shadow stagger on its last limb.
