Yamada was happy with the praise. "I'm not sure that I'd say that, but if they can't figure it out I would be more than willing to have a look at it." He thought about the current absence of Yoshida and somehow it bothered him. He worried the other student was up to something else, or maybe he was just being lazy. He wasn't sure, but he didn't like it. Fora moment he tried to decide if it was worse being around him or having him gone and not being sure what he's doing. "I do wonder where Yoshida-san has gone. I have to admit I'm surprised he hasn't said anything before disappearing."

Eber frowned and shot off a text back:

Could we not study together, the two of us?

"Oh--I'm glad you called. I'm in the homeroom right now, but I'll come to you. Where are you?" Hikaru stood and headed out to the hall that instant. The friends she'd left behind just rolled their eyes; they knew who it was on the phone.

"The more I think it's weird the more normal it seems. He's just a strange guy. For all we know he's sick or just skipping. You don't really tell people that you're going to be sick tomorrow. But...on the other hand it is a bit out of the norm that even Ishikawa doesn't know where he went. Well, as long as he doesn't end up...like those people..." Kumiko referred to the corpses on the train.

Akinari smiled at the text.

Okay! Looking forward to it! When would we have study sessions?

He brightened up a bit.

Rin nodded. "Ah yes I will have time, and I am sure we will find out something. I'm just not sure how much the information will actually help." She ran a hand through her left hair nervously. "I suppose I'm just worried it'll just lead to more questions than answers."

 

[Rosen2012]

Kojiro sighed in agreement. "At this point, I think most of what we do will lead to more answers than questions." He smiled, trying to cheer Rin up like she had tried to the other night for him, "But don't worry. You're smart. We'll get this."

"I'm on my way through the front, now. I'll see you soon." He hung up the phone. The moment he came through the front door a couple of girls jumped out his way. Ah, it was good to be home.

Eber glanced at his pile of textbooks. So... not inviting.

Dinner tonight?

Hikaru pushed her phone back into her bookbag and headed downstairs in a rush, her shoes tik-tik-tiking against the concrete steps.

Akinari looked a bit perplexed at the tiny text on the screen of his phone.

You want me to cook? I don't mind. What do you want? I can make it.

He retreated into his head, thinking up things that he knew how to make right away.

Rin felt her face heat up at his comment. "ah um yes, I think you might be right and um thank you." She gave him a small smile in return for his kind words.

Kojiro nodded, content he had cheered her up. Ignorant of anything else going. He ate his meal and took out his notes, he wanted to ask Rin some questions on some of the lesson.

Takuya walked steadily up the stairs until he reached the seniors' floor. He saw Seiya waiting for him and he walked over, smirking. "Good afternoon, Seiya. shall we go over things in the student council's office?"

You do not have to cook. Let me treat you somewhere.

Maybe she answered just a bit too quickly, "Yes, thank you!" She ducked into the indicated room and pulled his keycard out from her bag, "Here's your card... You have to swipe it to enter and to leave. It'll log the punches, just like for the other students."

Yamada thought it over and frowned as he remembered the story she'd told him about those people. "No one should end up like that. You're right though, he is a rather odd individual. I'm sure he's up to something." He stopped a moment, surprised that came out aloud. "Or he's sick. The weather has been changing." He looked away for a moment, embarrassed.

Kumiko snickered. "Yamada-san, you're hilarious." she pat his shoulder, attempting to ease his embarrassment. "Yeah, he probably is up to something in all his sick stupor." she teased.

A long, "Eeeeeeeeeeh?" escaped Akinari's lips. He looked the room with an expression that said 'false alarm, please do whatever you were doing again' to all the faces that were curious as to what the outbreak was for.

He'd only been out to dinner with his parents before. He began typing back:

That sounds like it'd be fun. Around what time?

Rin decided she might as well eat a bit and pulled out her lunch. Her mind was currently preoccupied with the thoughts of analyzing that vial they found. 'Hm I wonder what we'll even be able to learn from it.' she chewed her food thoughtfully as she considered this.

Yamada gave a very quiet chuckle at that. It was so much easier to talk to Mizushima than he ever would have anticipated. "I'm quite sure that's something no one has ever said about me before."

He wondered again if there was a distinct reason they'd all been chosen for this. Maybe there was something more positive to each of his teammates than he'd seen before. "I believe between a few of my own opinions and those displayed in last night meeting show that we did split into the best possible teams. Are you ready for tonight?"

Takuya smiled as he took his key card and listened to Seiya's explanations. He was sure he'd find some way around the system soon enough. "Very good, Seiya. And the discrepancies? Are students still trying to get out?"

After class. In all the traffic, no one will notice me slipping out, correct?

"Um." Hikaru glanced away when she lied, "No. Nobody."

"As ready as I'm going to be. At least all that running around does some good. I feel decent enough, so I should be able to go a bit further without feeling too much like crap."

'When you actually get Yamada talking, he's not too bad a guy.'

Akinari pondered on if that was a good idea. He also spent a few minutes wondering what all of the conditions of Eber's suspension was. He could not recall all of the details.

At least it's after school, right? It's not like you're skipping school. I'll see you then!

'Isn't that just as bad? Oh, I don't know.'

Takuya quirked an eyebrow. He extended his hand and took hold of Seiya's chin and made her face him. He just stared at her for a moment. Wondering is she was lying. Wondering if she would break away from him or try to close her eyes.

Someone was sneaking out, and she was covering for them. But who? The longer he stared the more the tightness in his chest grew. He felt something building, trying to tell him something trying to communicate with him. He let go of her, for a moment he thought he saw it, behind him. He looked over his shoulder, then back at Seiya. Nothing. But he could have sworn he saw...

"You're using the flawed system to go patrol the campus at night, aren't you?" He smirked, "Trying to catch the deviants? I'm impressed." he wasn't entirely sure if that was true or not. But it only took him a fraction of second to deduce she was either protecting someone she knew or herself.

He nodded again. "I feel I'm improving with my spear already, though I do worry I'm going to go too hard in Sojutsu now." He sort of made a face at that, but found he was really enjoying the conversation. Mizushima was much more down to Earth than he would have thought from just seeing her around the previous year.

Eber pocketed his phone and then fussed at his clothing until he finally got up and changed into something suitable for wandering town. Then he waited in the lobby for the other boy to finish up with classes, enjoying having the large room all to himself.

Hikaru's mouth opened but she hardly knew how to respond. She couldn't very well deny it and open other routes to investigation. Better that he thought he'd already figured it out? "Do... Do you disapprove?"
