Yamada was going to go outside, but seeing that some of the commotion had died down he decided to eat at his desk anyway. He'd been a bit distracted though the lesson, more than he wished he'd been anyway. He noticed the conflicts in the class, and wondered how people could be that upset with each other already.

He tried not to pay any mind to Yoshida in the least, but it was difficult to say the least. He made very quite, polite conversation with a boy questioning him on the meaning of one of their lectures that day.

Eber looks both amused and completely flabbergasted--but in a very pleasant way. "It all looks delicious. I appreciate your hard work, I feel spoiled to be able to eat such a meal even once in a week." He smiles winningly, scooting his chair closer to him, "This must take hours of preparation. How on earth do you study?"

------

Kumiko: The roof contains only a couple other students who had similar hopes of peace and quiet; they talk quietly amongst themselves and appear to be studying ahead in their textbooks. This looks like a good place to relax for now.

In 2-B: Students intersperse and chat with each other while they eat their lunches.

"Akiko told me about it this morning--that a girl from homeroom 1-C was found on the subway tracks this morning. She looked like a victim from a slasher film!"

"Yeesh! Guess her wish didn't come true after all."

"Well, it's only supposed to work on the full moon anyway."

"Yeah, but, sliced to death? What could've even done that?"

A bookish girl with glasses gives a squeak of disapproval, speaking up, "Seiya-senpai said not to spread those kinds of rumors around! If she hadn't thought she was going to get a wish granted, she might not have wound up dead! ...Besides... The Student Council president says the next person to get caught leaving campus after curfew's gonna get expelled..."

Kojiro packed away his notes, form the first half of the day. He barely took any notes, he was still upset at Kumiko. The anger was just eating at him and he knew why. It was because she wouldn't admit that he was right. And he knew that she knew he was right. And he knew that he was right! She just refused to admit he was right because she had money and he didn't. HE snarled recalling how she looked at him last night. Scrutinizing his appearance. *****.

Twenty years from now, when her husband leaves her for his 'new thing' his words will echo in her memories. He stood up and made his way over to Yoshida's desk.

"So did you hear us?"

----

Takuya stands up from his desk as lunch begins. He picks up the student files he had been reading through during class. He never takes notes. And teachers never bother to make him. He walked over to Seiya's desk. He required her while he made his rounds.

"Seiya-san, I plan to head down to the second and first years rooms. Come with me." He rarely if ever asked for anything, and even when he did it was always a command.

Akinari's cheeks flushed with color, he'd never received praise like that for his cooking and the greatest feeling of warmth washed over him. "It's not often that I have someone like my meals so much. Once a week is not nearly enough! I'll make you some everyday if you like." his was dripping with excitement. So easy to please he was. "I have plenty of time to study. Well, enough I guess. I tend to just kinda store the info up here." he tapped the side of his temple. "And I get up really early to cook. Sometimes I start it at night so most of it's ready by the time I get up."

Akinari was happy that he had someone to talk to, even if the conversation was mostly him. It was a miracle that he hadn't scared him off yet.

Eber's grin only widens, "I would be more than happy to accept. I certainly cannot say no to an offer to an offer like that. Though I hope you do not feel obligated. Now..." he leans forward slightly, absolutely tearing the bento apart with his chopsticks, eating heartily, "What was this about your dream? I am sorry to persist, it only sounds... so similar. I am interested."

--------

Hikaru looked up, snapped out of her post-lesson daydream. "Uh? Oh, certainly," she closed all of her books and notes and stowed them quickly in her bag, pushing it under the desk with her foot as she stood to join him, "I'm ready, Mori-sama."

Rin felt a bit happy at the moment. So far today had proven to be easier as far as taking notes went anyway. Ishikawa's sudden move next to her was a bit confusing, but at least he seemed nice. Rin briefly considered talking to him, until he stood up and walked away. She reach into her bag and pulled out her bento, and began eating her lunch.

Takuya nodded to Seiya and lead her out of the room. "I want to stop by the first years to begin with. They need to learn the faces of the student council, and I want to get a good look at Fridmund. If he's really going to save the baseball program, I want to see for myself."

As Takuya walked down the hall, he never once turned his head to look at Seiya. He rarely ever did, but he didn't have to. He was confident she was walking next to him, keeping up with his perfect stride. She was predictable, but it was a good predictable. Not the type that bored him, but the type he found useful. She was more useful an most of the adults he had met in his life. He'd have to tell her, someday. But not today.

"Now, Seiya-san, I can assume you have met most of the first years. Tell me about their over all moral and demeanor? Personal files only tell me so much. I was at least revealed to see we didn't receive any more low rent hoodlums like Ishikawa again this year."

"Yes," Hikaru nodded; she was indeed only a step behind and slightly to the right of him, "...I-I wouldn't call Ishikawa low rent... But the entrance exams were just recently rewritten. The first years are all very bright and hold promising futures in their families' fields. Many already speak English fluently. You'll approve."

Her shoes clicked steadily against the floor as she followed along behind him, keeping perfect time. Almost out of habit she plucked a cigarette from a student's front pocket where it was hiding and deposited it in the trash can without missing a beat.

"Furi--... Eber-san is skilled in nearly every sport Akaito offers; he's signed up for all of them except kendo and archery. And Fujita Akinari's parents are household names," she gave a quiet giggle, "Do you ever remember seeing the television special about the pink elephant...?"

Takuya's lips twitched. "Yes, I recall the Fujita's many exploits. A talented duo. They've made well for themselves catering to the short attention spans of children. And as for Fridmund, you're already so friendly with him, Seiya-san? You always jump in head first to those special cases."

Takuya rounded the corner slowing down as he approached the first year's homeroom. "But you get to friendly too quickly. You need to learn to be weary of people. Not all of them are friendly." He stopped in front of the first years door. "Though I suppose some would argue your open and concerning nature is excellent for that of a secretary, or a nurse, or a house wife."

Takuya put his hands on the door, he opened it with such force that the sound of its slamming overpowered every conversation taking place.

He walked into the room with his hands behind his back and Seiya in her place. He stopped in the front of the room just in front of the teachers desk.

"Greetings, new students. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Mori Takuya. Your student council president. I am here to personally welcome all of you to Akaito High."

"Oh it's not trouble! Really! I love to cook."
Akinari began to explain his dream in vivid and highly animated detail. He was completely shaken by it and did quite well with hiding it unless he was talking about it. He probably could have gone forever, but as he was waving his arms about imitating the shadow he'd seen in his dream an older boy entered the room and though he did not yell, his voice demanded attention.

"As this is only your second day attending our institution I trust you are all still getting settled into the rhythm of things. Most, if not all of you have already met Seiya-san, the council's secretary. And I hope you all treat her with the utmost respect, always." Takuya started to walk around the room, with his hands still behind his back, and Seiya still at the front.

"But now lets get down to business. This school is one of the finest. And we only except the finest of students. At your previous schools, you were all exceptional. But here everyone is exceptional. Whether that be in their grades, their athletics, or their talents," He reached the back of the room and turned to walk up the next aisle. "Everyone here is a star. But some of you will shine brighter than others."

"And some of you will crack under the pressure and your star will die out. If haven't already taken noticed, the second year class is half the size of the first year class. And it is only marginally bigger than the senior class. I implore you to do your best, every step of the way, because anyone who falls behind here, drops out." He reached the front of the class again and turned around for his third procession.

"As the number one student of the senior class, I understand, it can be difficult to excel," he smirked, and utter lie. "But those of you who are worth will endure. And those of you with the greatest potential are already under the microscope." He stopped at the back of the class room.

"Fridmund Eber! Stand up."

Hikaru stood still with her hands clasped in front of her, mind still dwelling on Takuya's words before his speech; she'd never thought of herself as without ambition. She certainly didn't forge such an involved academic career with the end goal of becoming a housewife. But when she stopped to think about her home life, she wondered... Didn't she, after all?

Eber blinked, a bit surprised, lounging rather unassumingly at his desk. He smiled easily, though, and stood to face the student council president, "Yes, senpai?"

The more the upperclassman spoke, the more Akinari felt himself shrinking in his chair. He got the kind of feeling that it was best not to cross him. Though, Akinari never actually tried to cross anyone. He listened to Takuya so intently that when Eber's name was called he jumped in his seat. It was unexpected. 'What does he want with him?' he cocked an eyebrow.

"Ah, Fridmund-kohai. I would like you to know that along with the faculty, I have also taken a special interest in your attendance at our school." He walked down the aisle to the foreign exchange student. "Great things are expected from you. Seiya-san says you have an extreme interest in sports. I want you to know that I will be closely monitoring your performances, academically and athletically." He smiled, "The entire school is looking forward to your performance out on the field especially. As captain of the men's soccer team, I too cannot wait."

He walked past the German student to head back to the front of the room. But he suddenly stopped and looked down at what he was eating. "...Such odd food Fridmund-kohai." He picked up a piggy-onigiri. "I hope you don't waste time making 'adorable' treats over training." He looked up again, but not back at the student he was talking to. "Don't become preoccupied with rubbish. if your skills fail you on and off the field, you'll be going home. We receive applications from dozens of overseas students, so don't get comfortable until you've proven you are as good as they say. You may sit, Fridmund-kohai."

He returned to the front of the room where he tossed the onigiri into the garbage.

"I..." he was barely audible even to himself. Akinari could only sit with his hands in his lap and his shoulders hunched up. "It's...it's not rubbish..." he whimpered to himself.

'But...my grades aren't bad and I'm ok on the field. Why does it have to be garbage? It's not. It's not.'

Akinari had just felt two extremes. Joy that someone enjoyed his cooking so much and damn near depression that someone could think that an activity that made him so happy was a waste of time. He bit his lip and kept his eyes on his lap, refusing to look back to Takuya.

Hikaru only barely stopped her gasp of shock from being audible, biting her lip to keep her protest to herself. Eber's expression, however, was solemn and dark. He did not sit down, but his smile did return, full of mockery and challenge for Mori.

"Thank you, 'President'-kun, for your esteemed opinion," he said, stepping around the older boy to the trash can, "And I promise not to disappoint you."

He reached into the trash, plucked the little rice-piggy out, and popped it straight into his mouth, where everyone could see him.

He stood up in shock, "Eber-kun!" Akinari's jaw was making friends with the floor. He was at a loss for words, only bits of syllables flopped out of his mouth forming an unintelligible sentence. "You- You didn't have to!"

Takuya mentally twitched as he heard the words 'kun' follow his name. No one addressed him as 'kun'. No one. Ever. He watched Fridmund pick the piggy out of the trash and eat it. As he watched each motion, he felt a great sense of rage build up in his chest. He repressed it, easily, making sure to never snap in front of a crowd of students. However he would not let this slide.

"Entertaining, Fridmund-kohai. I heard you were knowledgeable about our customs. But apparently you are a bit ignorant when dealing with upperclassmen. But that's alright I'll teach you. This afternoon. And for the rest of the week. Since you like trash so much, you will clean every class room after school, alone. I will supervise."

He turned to Seiya and nodded to her indicating he was ready to leave. He opened the door and turned to the first years, "And if you skip out on our cleaning sessions you will be suspended before the season even begins." He looked over at Fujita and looked eyes with him. "And anyone who tries to help Fridmund-kohai in secrete, you will go home. Permanently."

Takuya headed out the door, he barely waited for Seiya to cross the thresh hold before he slammed it shut.

"Ingrates," He muttered before turning and making his way to the second years.

"M-Mori-sama..." Hikaru murmured, both soothing and chiding at once; she followed quickly behind him as he left for the second year homerooms. Whether or not she approved of his methods... He was strict and dedicated to his role, and she admired the strength he used to keep Akaito as number one in the prefecture. Still... That poor boy...

Eber chewed thoughtfully and then swallowed, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand before speaking, "It is rude to stare. Go on and finish your meals." He slid back into his seat, leaning close to Akinari to whisper, "Thank you for lunch, Akinari. It was delicious--every bite."

He turns forward and sits quietly, pensive.

"But, that's hardly fair! All those rooms by yourself...If he wasn't going to supervise you, I'd help. He can't watch you all the time, right?"
That Takuya...he just didn't sit well with Akinari. In his mind there was just no way someone could be so cruel for no reason. His simple mind assumed that it was just a bad day on his part, but no part of him was pleased about it. Eber was so strong, so Akinari would stand his ground too. Even if standing his ground was just continuing to do what made him happy.
