No issue here for me; I'm not interested another Modern Warfare (and probably not another Call of Duty) game after MW2's disappointment. Skyrim has been in my sights since it was announced. Pretty much the only planned purchase coming out this year, with ME3 coming out next year instead.

I'm not even buying Modern Warfare 3.

Problem solved!
What he said.
I mean, really, how much more can MW3 innovate on the "SHOOT STUFF FUCKYER" formula?
Cannot, cannot wait for Skyrim.

I wonder how many people are actually going to buy these games they are excited for.

My bro's gonna get MW3 on the 8th, then I get Skyrim on the 11th.
Those 3 days are all he ever gets, since on the 11th, I'll be replacing nutrition, money, family, friends, sunlight, and sex with Skyrim.

I'll be preordering the Collector's edition then going to the midnight release.

So.... Skyrim all the way. No choice has ever been easier in my mind.

Srsly I just bought Oblivion on Steam to warm up for Skyrim (though I has it on xbox)
Since you've played it on xbox 360 already, do you want to try out some mods?
I could help you find some good/great ones.

No contest. I'm looking forward to Modern Warfare 3, but I'm, without a doubt, getting Skyrim first. A good story but maybe 10 hour campaign for MW3? Or over 300 hours of gameplay with Skyrim?

Seriously. No contest.

A brand new TES game, or a mediocre shooter that is basically a copy/paste of it's previous 3 incarnations. How is that even a choice?
So TES 5 is a brand new game, but MW 3 is a rehash of a tired old series? Granted the TES series has had three game engines in it's four incarnation history, and Skyrim will take that tally up to four engines, but I think you're giving MW3 a raw deal. We've seen a lot of Skyrim over the year so far to base an opinion on it, but we've seen next to nothing from MW3 - even the trailers are vague without any gameplay footage to go on. What's the point in blindly hating on a game before you even know what it's going to be like? Not to mention that MW and MW2 are only two previous incarnations - where did your third one come from?

OT: I'm stoked for both, and I'm buying both. Three cheers for disposable income!

If I had to choose, Skyrim without a second thought. The Elder Scrolls series is my favourite game series (and Bethesda one of my favourite developers), so while I'm sure MW3 will be as flashy as the previous titles and all, it'd never stand a chance.

I thought it was a little crap the MW3 tried to steal some of Bethesda's thunder with the release, but it's probably just coincidence. Ultimately it's not hard to know what to buy. One of the games is an eagerly anticipated sequel to an incredible franchise, bringing new gameplay mechanics to entertain fans for years to come. The other is Modern Warfare 3.

Why on earth are people so keen to buy a rehash of an average, military shooter? MW2 and BLOPS aren't even cold yet. This one year release schedule is just Activision printing money. No innovation, SP campaign sucks, and now the whole Elite thing. No dedicated servers since MW2, crap MP game options. It's absolutely everything I detest about gaming and I'll be damned before I spend a penny to encourage any more of it.

I'm hoping MW3 is absolutely destroyed by Skyrim, why? Because MW3 has already been released, it's called MW2. Hopefully Skyrim doesn't suffer from the problems oblivion did.

Skyrim, no contest. Not even gonna get MW3, not too big on shooters, big on RPGs though.
