So I was looking at this [http://fandom.memebase.com/2011/11/07/fanart-cosplay-damn-right-you-are/], and I thought it was truly pathetic, for what I think it implies.
To me, It implies that people who like Skyrim are superior to people who like MW3. If you honestly think that you are superior to someone because they don't like the same things you do , you are truly pathetic, and have no business forcing your opinions on other people as if they were objective facts. It doesn't matter whether you like Call of Duty or not, but thinking that not liking it makes you superior is complete idiocy.
Being someone who likes a lot of things, I like both MW3 and Skyrim. They're both great games (don't even start, MW3 is great, and Skyrim goes without saying), especially for their genres, and they're both great fun. But the notion that preference is an indicator of superiority is ridiculous. That's like arguing that people who like ball point pens are superior to people who like mechanical pencils. It makes no sense.
In fact, this doesn't just happen with Skyrim, this happens with a lot of other games as well.
Am I just reading to much into this, and extracting messages that aren't there? This is the only place this happens right?
never mind [http://memebase.com/2011/11/16/internet-memes-and-push-to-skyrim/].
Are the people better for liking one or another? No. Are one of the games better than the other? Yes, more amount of content and time was put into Skyrim than MW3. Now am I saying that the COD series is bad? No, not at all, I actually enjoyed those kind of games. However, when your just making a yearly game with minimal effort put into the single player and you make another multilayer that you barely change/improve so that you can continue to milk it for all its worth, then yep. Skyrim > MW3. Now if you want to bring up COD4, well that's different. I won't insult COD4 because I don't like MW3.
Really, The reason people think this is because IW pump out CoD games that are quite similar (NOT the same; they do change/improve things and I acknowledge this) to eachother once every two or so years, whereas We haven't seen an elder scrolls game for quite a while (has it been what, four or five years?). The poll said "which release are you looking forward to most". I know I was looking forward to Skyrim more than MW3, Cod gets a new title on a yearly basis. There is no excitement to a CoD game coming out anymore, whereas when a series that is being updated after five. Damn. Years. Gets another title out, thats something to shout about.
Also, I would say that the most recent comment, which i suspect that you are mad about, is actually quite valid. The shooter market currently has multitudes of titles coming out every month. This is because shooters, particularly the online variety (which is most of them) are good for people who don't have the massive ammount of time that games like Skyrim seem to demand from you (honestly, I can't put the game down, It's great).
So fans who buy a $60 dollar game with 300 hours of gameplay that has been in development for 5 years aren't superior to fans who buy a $60 game with 4 hours of gameplay that has been in development for 2 years? At the very least, skyrim fans are better at spending money.
Yeah, it's because of that you don't see me on the Bungie forums, people there refuse to shut up about about how Halo Reach is a disgrace of a game and how anyone who likes it is horrible at Halo 3.

I play both. But personally I find MW3 has a superior story based on the characters. Skyrim just seems ... empty to me. Ive no clue who anyone IS. Ive played for about 10 hours and it just doesnt seem like Im goin to meet anyone I care even half as much about as I do Captain Price and Soap, because I know who they are and what theyre about. Mind you, Skyrim is an amazing RPG and easily the most polished and accessible of all the Elder Scrolls games. I just think MW3 has a better cast and plot. My point is, I PREFER MW3, but totally understand if somebody chose it over MW3. Its different strokes for different folks as my History teacher once said.
It's just fanboys being fanboys. I don't mind little remarks like this; I only get annoyed at fanboy wars when a thread involving one reaches over five pages.
I wish people would see hardcore vs. causal in this way. Anyways, most super big fans really creep me out. I think it's just because there conversations are a bit too claustrophobic for me.
Firstly if you're judging what people think off a cheezburger network site I think you have bigger problems than 'oh noes they is picking on me!!1!' I mean really, come on, just because they say something is a meme doesn't necessarily make it one.
I play both games in fact I play most games that interest me I don't judge people on what they choose to play just like I don't judge them on what they watch or read (Twilight the obvious exception). If you are getting upset because someone's who likes 'Brand X' over 'Brand Y' thinks all 'Brand Y' people are idiots and proclaims it loudly and proudly all over the internet does it really when you stop and think about it rationally make that much of a difference difference in your life?
You play what you play because you enjoy it, not because someone with an opinion that is different from yours says you should enjoy it.
Can we please stop this, "I play "this" so I'm surpior to you" talk. I thought (Or so I believe) we are all gamers in some way or form and it doesn't really matter if someone likes to play MW3 or Battlefield or Saints Row or Skyrim over the other or less than the other.
I'm sorry but you are just plain wrong. Mechanical pencils are clearly better than pens. You make a mistake with a pen you have to make a mess and scribble it out, or even worse tippex. Mechanical pencils though, best of both worlds. Erasable and neat.

but really, theres no way to justify thinking your superior for liking either. Practically every thing The CoD franchise is accused of, Bethesda is guilty of.
The quality of MW series since inception (the series' inception, not the movie) has decreased (in my mind) and the games have done little new or exciting outside of multiplayer.
The quality of the TES games have been largely improving (with an admitted hiccup at 4) and have tended to push the series it's self and western RPG's in general.
Copies of traded in MW > 0
Copies of traded in Skyrim = 0
I think that says something for the quality of the games.
Pattern recognition is a key skill associated with cognitive development and thus being "excited" for MW more than Skyrim, although potentially an indicator of not liking Skyrim (highly likely) it could just as well be an indicator of a low average level of intelligence in the gaming community.
People on the internet are never nice, so it's obviously been assumed that the only answer is "EVERYONE IS STUPID!" not "There seem to be a large number of people who aren't looking forward to Skyrim."
Just to be clear. I wasn't excited for either, I was pleasantly excited by Skyrim, I was not impacted by MW3 in any significant way other than to notice that others seem to be enjoying it less than I expected them to.
EDIT: Also, the LoL forum thread linked: Someone expressed the same sentiment as the OP through sarcasm and got
As we can see bieberfever123 is obviously a better person in all measurable ways than YeOldeSchooler and therefore, always correct.
In all seriousness, it seems to me these are the kind of people who're complaining about MW3's popularity vs Skyrim. (Not the Bieber fans. The idiots.) So really there's nothing much to worry about, and nothing much that can be done.
If someone who thinks like that could have their opinion changed by what you say on the internet they'd already agree with you. Or the world would be horrible due to people using this power for malicious ends, whatever.
