Kind of like heads on a pike? I dig it. Now just enchant them with fire for dramatic effect, and lay them out in a message that can only been seen from the sky, like, "Mmmmm-mmm, dragon sure is tasty!". :)
I'm sure if I took the time I could make a big set of them and lay them out so the formed the Dragon tongue for "Go away or you'll end up like this too."

I'm at 92 hours played, and I haven't even finished the first third of the main quest line.

I'm sure I'll be playing it for at least another 100 hours or so.

I can't imagine playing the game for only 20 hours. Its a waste to even play it for that length of time. You miss so much content. Main quest arc is such a tiny part of the game.

I'm in 137 hours, I've only just crush the rebellion...
Though I've been the boss of every guild for a while... Like a boss.

Next storylline quest I have to do is "Diplomatic Immunity"...
But first I want to master enchanting, so I can enchant my legendary Daedric equipment so it at least recharges magica at the same rate as archmage robes and Morokei.
And maybe some resistances...
Those Forsworn Briarhearts with their lightning are a bit hard...
In fact, I have problems fighting most high level mage types...
Why recharge magicka? When you can reduce macicka cost of spells with 100%.
Because I have to do that separately for every school of magic.
Anyway, forst thing I want to do is create a set of clothes with Fortify Enchanting, which I will then use to create a better set of clothes with Fortify Ecnhanting, which I will then use to create a better set of clothes with Fortify Enchanting...
Well, I dont think you can actually fortify enchating with enchantments. Just as you cant fortify alchemy with potions. You have to fortify alchemy with enchantments fortify enchantments with alchemy then fortify alchemy with enchantments..
Actually, I found a helmet which fortifies enchantments by 25%...
Now I just have to find it again it that chest is Breezehome...
OMG...... *Runs off to play skyrim* Thankyou-youaremygod-forumsgotmyhopesdown-yousavedmyday. Technically this means you could just increase enchantment to the point of having 50% mana saved, having the 2 enchantments perk. You could reduce the mana cost of all spell schools to 0. Illusion, Conjuration, Destruction,Restoration, altera(ohno 5) Ah well, its not like you used Alteration anyway.
5? Is that a problem?
Hat, clothes, gloves, boots, ring and amulet...
That's 6 things to enchant, and with that final perk that allows you to put 2 enchantments on something...
12 enchantments. Without weapon or shield.
And no, I haven't used alteration yet, I think...
Though I might put an enchantment on my armour with the Feather effect...
Certain Enchantment works on certain items. You can only enchant Helm/Chest/Amulet/Ring with Magic-cost reduce. They are also the only ones you can enchant with regens. Direct statgain is Gloves/Boots/Shield while damagestuff is, well. Weapons.

I've played for, let's see, last time I checked it was around 45 hours, and I've been to 4 cities and done maybe 3 main quests. I've cleared maybe 4 dungeons and am level 24. I'm a member of 1 guild, and an applicant in 2. I've done pretty much nothing for 40 hours and I'm never bored, and I absolutely love the game. I agree, this is the way to play the game. But to each his own...

What the fuck are you talking about? Yeah, dicking around is fun. But the fact that I found the main quest compelling enough to follow through with it before my usual 50 hours spent killing every bandit for miles around and becoming head of every guild possible is a good thing. The game is not necessarily meant to be played with 30 hours of wasting time before you do the important stuff. If Bethesda wanted that, they should have removed the level scaling. Or made the quest lines bigger or something.
Chill. Nobody's accusing you of anything. :)
If you followed main quest to the end AND then you plan to play more, then we have nothing to argue about.
My questions are for those who quickly finished main storyline and stopped playing Skyrim.
The amount of times people assume I'm angry or something. If I had a nickel... I could probably go out for dinner or something. Yeah, I swear a little too casually.
Really, how many people stopped there, except people who didn't enjoy the game anyway? Is it that much of a problem? I haven't seen many (any?) threads (and I've seen a lot of Skyrim threads, as have we all) that had someone talking about how they've finished Skyrim, and they're gonna stop, unless they didn't like it. Which is fair enough, it's far from perfect and obviously not everyone will love it.

60 hours on my first playthrough. I felt the game went at an appropriate pace as I did the Companion, Thieves, Mages and Brotherhood quest lines along with the Main.

My second play as a caster will incorporate a lot of the side quests and more pure exploration along with any other key quest lines I missed out on (like the war)

We have this saying, i'm not sure how it goes in english... "It's not wrong to err. It's wrong to continue to do so" or sh*t. ;)

Well, some people even uninstalled it right after finishing main quest. How many of them are there ? Judging by responses in some topics - there's whole bunch of them. There are no official statistics. ;)

One more thing : i blame also idea of in game achievements. On one hand it extends both gameplay and fun, on the other, it changes the way people play games nowadays. For the wors i'm afraid.

I'm over 80 hours in and the only two quest lines I have completed are the Companions and the College of Winterhold. Still working on miscellaneous, daedra, main quest, thieves guild and dark brotherhood. No where near done yet.

I think some people enjoy speed runs. As for my personal story:

I'm 80 hrs in according to Steam. That number isn't accurate because my fiance's been playing so I think about half that time is her's.

I'm level 34, head of the Mage's College, head of the Companions, and just started the Thieves Guild. I also did a few Daedric quests and became the Thane of Whiterun and Winterhold. Not to mention a ton of side quests and random dungeons. I've only explored three cities and only did enough of the main quest to get those extra shouts.

I've been playing Skyrim for 60hr easily and have yet to beat the main quest. (I've gotten as far as
Odahviing flying me to Alduin's gate to Savongard
, but never actually gone through with it.) However, I can see an argument for getting through the main quest pretty quickly and dicking around afterwards. For one, if you want
the Call Dragon and Dragonrend shouts
while you explore, you'll have to do the main quest.

I'm in about 50 hours. I haven't completed any of the major sidequests. I bouncing it would seem for plot to plot. Also when I saw the Nightengale armor I said "fuck the world" I'm a gonna be Revan!!!!!!!!!
That's what I thought! That armour is so similar to KotOR.

Don't even know how may horus I'm in but it's probably around 30-40 and I've finished the main quest and am now bumming around the world just doing whatever suits me. Don't feel like I've rushed but from an RP'ing perspective I felt that I should get a shimmy on and stop the World Devourer before he devours the world...

Don't even know from the top of my head how long i've been playing. But i'm level 33 or something and still need to go to Riften to proceed with the main quest. Not going soon though, having to much stuff unearthing ancient goodies from cryptes and pissing of giants.
Everyone is free to play a game however they want, singleplayer even more so than MP-titles, but you're selling yourself short if you 'rush' this game, or just play the main quest.

Just my 2 cents... ^^

I finished the main storyline a few days ago, at level 49, with 130 hours played.

I took my time getting to the end and what did I get? I killed the ender of worlds, dark god of everything evil and blah blah blah in 15 seconds, so that's my epic experience.

One of the reasons to finish the main quest reasonably quickly is so you wouldn't to slice through it like an ebony waraxe of +20 fire damage through a piece of butter. Then you can take your time and fuck around in the world all you want.

Soooooooooo, my fellow Escapists, after reading yet another topic starting like this "after 20-30 hours i finally have beaten Skyrim and i find both main quest and its ending, blah, blah, blah"...

Why ? What's the rush ? Why are you people running through Skyrim instead of playing it slowly, trying to become hero, protagonist of your own fantasy story, just, you know, for the sake of fun and immersion ?

There's no time limit. No achievement for speedrun. There are so many places to visit, so many items to collect, so many subquests to fulfill. Most of interesting events are prescripted, waiting for you to initiate some actions. There's no way you can miss some things no matter how much time you spend on doing something completely different...

Care to elaborate ? Please, go on. I'm really interested in your opinion.

Edit : I should probably write about my own experience.
Well, it's over 50 (close to 60) hours.
My hero(ine) is level 11, with only a few perks (i don't feel like investing into things i don't use anyway), still knows jack sh*t about world, and treats this whole "Dragonborn" thing like something between superstitious utter crap and pure coincidence (i simply were there and things just happened).
There are more important things - civil war, unrest... Ok, dragons are a threat, very real threat but if Skyrim doesn't sort its things out, there won't be anyone to fight those damn, flying lizards. :)
A bit like in todays world saying 'gee I know there's a comet on the way to wipe out the planet and all, but this debt ceiling business...' - if you know about economics, you know the proportions aren't that far off.

Its like reading a book, you want to get to the end, so you read more, and more and more, and eventually if its a good enough book, you MUST read to the end. It becomes a compulsion, besides the flip side is, I've got plenty of time to do all that other stuff later, why not save the world first, then sort out the politics and kill olfric storm cloak (just imo, but going with ulfric is such a stupid idea).

Besides, its such and excellent story, really, I would advise you go finish it.

The way I play is too look at the map for the direction with the most quests to do. Fast travel to the nearest place and visit every place on the map between where I am and the closest quest. Rince and repeat. I'm about 25hrs in I think, maybe more. I did the companion quest and lots of minor side quests and such. Couldn't tell you where I am in the main quest line, I don't even know which one that is. Is it the quest where I have to meet the greybeards? I'm on my way there now.

Go to Riverwood? Nah, I want a full set of Daedric Armor first! Dragon Shouts? Who the hell cares when I have a bigass sword that does all my talking? As far as all the characters in game are concerned, I'm just a regular warrior.

Do you remember where you found that? My High Elf mage would be indestructible... Of course, first he needs to train in enchanting, but I can get that done pretty quick.

Just because people finish one quest line in 30 hours doesn't mean they rushed through the game or anything. Maybe they just thought the whole dragonborn quest line was awesome? Who's to say you should do the other quests first? What does it matter? I'm, oh, let' say 35 hours in, lvl 31, and on the main quest I've so far only been to High Hrothgar and have yet to get the Horn, yet I'm a good way into the College quests and have done quite a few others. On top of that I'm around 80 Enchanting and somewhere around 65 Blacksmithing.

Basically the game is open ended - so much so that by finishing the main quest line you aren't finished the game by any means. I mean I played FO3 for probably 50 hours after finishing the main quest.
