What no one else seems to have mentioned, the cops didn't know if you were an accomplice that the guy called over to help him escape. I'm assuming that they didn't watch you walk up to your door and then stop you. Rather, that they stopped you at a perimeter? The whole idea is to keep people out of the general area, in order to both prevent collateral damage if bullets start flying, and to keep anyone that could potentially create more problems for them.
But even taking that out of the equation, there are some things that you just don't do. One of which is fucking with the police, more importantly, when they're in a stand-off that could very well turn fatal.
Honestly, here are people putting their lives on the line on a day-to-day basis in order to keep the peace on the streets, and people are always treating them with disrespect. Maybe next time they won't show up, and you'll get a bullet in the skull. That'd probably make your snide little remarks a little more difficult.
