A bit more news has rolled in concerning the details of how Osama was killed.

Boom, Headshot. The soldier(s) that pulled that off should be allowed to retire right now.

Actually it never occurred to me that listing the origin of my post would bother anybody. Now that it seems to have done so the Post has been edited to omit that information.

I predict Republicans will come down with a massive case of shutting-the-fuck-up. You can't really talk shit to a President who took out the guy in, if I'm reading the sequence of events right, a day.
I highly doubt that, Obama did jack-crap. The U.S. military did all the work. Obama just sat there and said, "Hey guys is it okay if I start cutting down on the funds I'm giving you...oh, you need them, well too bad I'm going to do my best to cut them anyway."
1. Obama is part of the US military. He is the supreme commander.
2. Vast majority of the spending targeted by his reforms is entirely unrelated to the war on terror. Most of the costly technology (although not all) that the reforms have been targeting is for war against standing military of a similar size, not the wars that the US military has been fighting for over 6 decades.
My response to that is no. I've already explained why. But on top of that, supreme commander of nothing, the military hardly ever sends back word to Obama for confirmation, if they do, chances are they have already done what they were "asking" Obama to do.

Both my parents worked for the military and my dad served back in the 70's they the didn't wait for any president or political official to give a go ahead on things. If the military thought it needed to be done, they did it, it didn't matter what the President thought. If they waited for confirmation to do things all the time, stuff wouldn't get done.
Bullshit, maybe for little things but the big stuff they sure as hell wait for approval, because the generals are politicians and if the military did what ever they wanted there would be major problems

Heh,

Your parents are not the only ones who worked for the military, and not the only ones who spent the military's money. There is a fair amount of good reasons to cut the defense budget, whether or not you consider Obama the supreme commander. Your argument applies equally well to him as it does to >95% of the members of the military, so the statement "The US military got Bin Laden" is then almost as wrong as the statement "Obama was instrumental in getting him". Not to mention that it was about 10% military, 90% politics and diplomacy, in which he plays more of a role than almost any member of the military.

So it's real: Nearly a decade later, vengeance.

The United States has picked apart his organization over the last 10 years, and yet, at great cost. All in all, I would say the US didn't win. They won. They had won before the US ever set foot in Afghanistan.

Do not mistake what I say here as a defeatist attitude, but rather stating the nature of the problem.
You can't "beat" terrorism; you cope with the aftermath.
This is a very true statement. The terrorists did, in fact, win.

a terrorist organisation without a leader is far worse than a terrorist organisation with a leader, also killing Osama will probably only result in more "terrorists" because he died a martyr because of the evil americans etc + the war in the middle east cannot be won because you can beat a nation but not an ideology so my advice to the USA would be to tell everyone mission accomplished Osama is dead everything is awesome, then gtfo and never go back.

Hell yes he is! Been watching Fox with my mom for.a hour now. Literally 5 minutes before we got the news Geraldo said "what if its Bin Laden?" We doubted it. But its true!
You're watching FOX news? Do they have Osamas name misspelled on the bottom of the screen, or is this just a Chicago feed I'm seeing with the idiotic typo for the last 30 minutes?
in the FBI's files his name is also spelled usama, it's like the name John changed to Jon

Tbhey deserve a damn game. We need every damn major studio working together on this thing, damnit. Valve, Bioware, Naughty Dog, Zipper, Bungie, Infinity Ward, Epic, all of them, together.
That would be the best game ever! Lets get them on that right now!

Wow, way to sell your credibility up the river man.
You go and sit in your "Obama ruins everything" corner, the rest of us are gonna say how fucking awesome this is.
I'm not saying it isn't awesome that Osama is dead. I'm just pointing out it will be incredibly stupid how people will wrongfully give Obama even a small bit of credit for this.

Obama deserves nothing for this, we need to get him out of office come this election and never look back, and forget about people that want to make crap bills like his, and not vote in anybody else that thinks like him, into office.
