I don't mind it so far, aside from the fact that the "campaign" is just multiplayer with bots and occasional cutscenes aaaaaand I'm too stupid to figure out how to access multiplayer.
To get the multiplayer just hit freeplay and choose Online Game. Took me a little bit to figure out.

AI: yes shit, but it's MP so it doesn't matter so much.
Death: not an issue assuming people are playing properly and buffing each other.
Ugly: your opinion obviously, I think it's rather interesting not to mention different.
Audio glitches: will get fixed eventually, but so far on PC seems like only one map.
Female thing: I don't see it as an issue, since there are plenty of other games that don't offer females as a choice.

Give it some time really, because the bugs, they'll get fixed. People need to either learn to play, or stop playing all together, assuming they're coming into it with the CoD run and kill everything mentality.

My opinion is based on the PC version, no idea how bad the console ones are by comparison.
Female thing: No, mate, I mean there are no women in the game. I have yet to see a single woman in a cutscene or during gameplay. I think it's lazy, but passable to not have female choices. But no women at all? What the hell kind of world is that?
Kill everything mentality: I didn't. I mean that you die in like three shots. It's rediculous. But then again you said buffing was part of the gameplay so maybe that explains it. :/

Aside from those points I can dig what you're saying : )

There'll be numerous occasions where you'll say "WTF? I just unloaded a clip into him and I died first", but then you realize that their engineers are buffing weapons, and medics are buffing HP and yours aren't.

Fix the bugs I have yet to experience, improve bot AI, give a bit of free DLC and you've got a great game. However the a free DLC is unlikely to happen, unfortunately.

I like brink, though it does have a serious lack of variety. It most definitely needs some free map dlc before I feel I got my moneys worth.

One off the odder quirks that probably should be redone is the body type system. There seems to be a very small variation in health between heavy/medium/light, and move speed for heavy/medium is near identical. Since Brink is such a movement oriented game your best bet is to go light, then just keep moving and use the slide move to knock down enemy players so you can lay a clip into them before dashing over a barrier to avoid his buddies. Get yourself the Kevlar upgrade (soldier self-boost, engineer teammate buff) and you have near the same survivability as a heavy player, with double the speed

The only real reason to choose another class is if you want more weapon variety, (mainly assault rifles, shotgun, and the infamous heavy gattling gun). Even then I find the bulpdaun SMG (final SMG unlock) with accuracy boosting attachments and a high-capacity clip, to outdo many of the assault rifles in range and power, without sacrificing mobility and on-the-go spray and pray. As far as secondary weapons go the Hockler MP (Steam pre-order bonus) is devastatingly effective for surprise close-quarters combat (actually it feels kinda OP for me, which might be the reason it comes with a frustratingly small amount of ammo.)

The character customization looks great and i really do hope they apply that to skyrim, because im tired of only being able to make butt ugly characters.

Multiplayer, which is all you should be buying the game for, is just what you'd expect from combining TF2, CoD and Mirror's Edge. It's a good combination if you're into it, it makes for good gameplay.

Singleplayer on the other hand is completely nonexistent. I'm sorry, slapping an audio file at the end and a few cinematics at the middle/end of a multiplayer match with bots does NOT count as singleplayer.

If you're into small scale shooters, I'd say it's a decent buy. I myself am more into stuff like Battlefield though so that puts it outside my interest zone. It's fun, it's just not the kind of game I'm into.

You're confusing character customization with a decent selection of choice among preset character features. I expect FAR more from Skyrim character creation screen and I have no doubt we'll get it.

I pre-ordered it off Steam last year sometime, so I only paid $45 instead of the $90(!) they want for it now if you happen to be Australian.

Still, I don't think I've had the kind of issues with lag and audio bugs that console gamers have noticed. In fact, I've not yet encountered a bug yet. It does have some major balance issues though, because apparently playing resistance is much easier then security.

I find it fun, the graphics are amazing but the balance really needs to addressed in the next patch.

The xbox online is unplayable, but besides that it's amazing. Trust me, you should get it, all the problems people are complaining about are... minor.

I like it a lot actually, Most of the reviews I've seen were good too so... I don't really know who your talking about
Yahtzee hasn't reviewed it yet, but Xplay gave it only 2/5. That's why I was wondering.
He didn't seem all that impressed or interested at the Mana Bar... I don't know if he will end up reviewing it seeing as it's multiplayer focussed.

OT: I played some multiplayer and it's definitely fun. I don't know how it would hold up to long play sessions, I think it could get quite repetitive... But then again, that's the good thing about multiplayer; the ability to have fun doing the same thing over and over again. Though I do think it's a bit expensive for what you get.

While I haven't played it yet I'm interested in checking it out at some point. With regards to a lack of content I feel like that's only a problem if the content that IS there is bad. I've quite honestly been playing Dustbowl on tf2 for years and it's still entertaining.

It's pretty good so far. Doesn't really match the hype, but "steaming pile of crap" is far from accurate. The reviews on Metacritic are decent overall and there seems to be a lot of positive user reviews.

Maybe not worth it yet if you weren't interested to begin with, but calling it crap isn't really fair.

I love the game, but online for the Xbox is slow and laggy. And this game is much more akin to Battlefield than TF2. The classes are more similar, being that medics aren't constant heal bots, the soldier can resupply ammo, and the matches are based on dynamic objective-based gameplay.

Brink is a shooter with only 2 noteworthy aspects:

1. Parkour mobility
2. Character customisation

The more astute individuals will notice that neither of these things should form the basis of an FPS shooter.

The only times mobility is really noticed in games is when something goes wrong i.e. bumping into a knee high wall and running impotently on the spot in front of it. At all other times mobility is something that is used, but not noticed (except for precision jumping). Sprinting, sneaking, climbing, jumping etc are all actions that are used but never really noticed. For good games anyway... It's lumped in with immersion. The less you realise you're doing it, the more immersive the game is.

Anyway... as a straight up shooter title, Brink is functional but not very impressive. Modern Warfare doesn't need to be at all concerned about losing its title as the genre standard for FPS games.

Apart from the 2 noteworthy additions there is nothing about the game that can't be found somewhere else and/or better.

Even the parkour I thought was lacking compared to Mirrors Edge. Just me though.
