Still use SDTV. Haven't found any reason to upgrade.
That's what I thought too but once I went HD I could never go back, the difference is so huge...

I'll never forget how happy I felt the first time I saw The Capital Wasteland in full widescreen HD :)

720p rather than 1080p. I bought that because my old tv broke, if it hadn't i wouldn't have buy that one just for the definition.

Well, for the longest time I had a television capable of HD, but just used the composite cables that came with my PS3. Just recently they started acting up on me so I figured I may as well buy an HDMI cable since I have a good enough television. So as of yesterday I do in fact play in HD.

I figure everyone's moved up to HD by now..but I could be wrong...I may have to switch back to SD for a while if this keeps up..my MW2 360 keeps freezing for some reason...I'm not sure if it's the console, or if it's glitches in the games themselves that is causing it...either way, I might have to buy a new 360. o-o..and the new slims don't come with HD cables. T-T
Well, I suppose that you can use the HD cable you've got with the new one. Or you can always buy an older model with an HD cable.

For my birthday back in June I signed a contract on a 32' HDTV doing rent-to-own. $60 a month for a year, and I'll own it.

Absolutely, most games are playable in SD except for this oft overlooked detail. I can sit on my couch for PS2 games, but the 360 games I have to sit at arms length from the screen.

I use my SD because I can have my Xbox and PS2 plugged in with my 360 and SNES wires easily changeable. If I find a flatscreen TV with this amount of practicality then I'll make the switch.

I still have a large, bulky SD TV for playing my PS1 and Gamecube games on.

Any game that doesn't support HD looks absolutely shit on a HD TV. They're really only designed for high def images and regular old analogue is unbareable. I can't wait until all TV is HD by standard.

But my SD TV is fine for analogue games, much better quality than trying to play them on a HD telly. It's really one or the other, but really the SD TV probably wins because it can play everything at a moderate quality whereas HD can only play HD brilliantly and everything else crap.

I play PC games but when I do decide to play console games, I play on a CRT, since the only console I own that I reguarly play is a Dreamcast :D

I can't stand playing HD games on SD, although it is also because I feel spoiled with HD goodness but also its a lot more difficult with some games on a SD TV *cough*Dead Rising*cough*.

SD works fine for me. never even had the problems with subtitles other people seem to complain about. No HDTVs in our entire house in fact. Don't need to waste money on something you don't need, that's my philosophy.

Amen.

It floors me that not only devs, but the OP assumes that everyone has an HD TV by now. I mean, surely you guys have bills to pay too, right?

My SD TV is just fine. I don't see a reason to go HD until my SD breaks. That probably won't happen for another 5-6 years. Even then I'll only go HD because I don't have a choice. Probably won't hook anything up with HD cables, though.
Oh yeah I said that too. Then I bought a new HD TV as my old one actually broke, hooked my 360 up on it and eventually bought a PS3 with Uncharted 2 and Watchmen on Blu Ray.
And after playing on an HD TV for quite some time, my brother switched the PS3 from my HD TV to the regular SD TV downstairs for some odd reason a while ago, then played God of War 3 on it.
GOOD. GODS. Doing that to a PS3 should be a criminal offence. The texts weren't even freakin' readable! I'm no graphics whore (playing KotOR and Planescape: Torment on a regular basis proves that) but that was just horrendous!

Not even practical, I can't imagine playing BC2 online effectively on that SD TV. I'd miss so many details that I wouldn't spot nearly as many targets as I would on my HD TV. Every jungle level would be a pure nightmare.

Oh and FYI to all people here:
HD TV's aren't that expensive anymore. I bought mine, a 32" LG LH3000 Full HD TV for about 450 euros and I'm extremely happy with it.

It doesn't have any super high tech features (like dual screen and stuff) but has plenty of connections (got my GameCube and PS3 hooked to it, my 360 too when it still worked and I still have room to spare for about extra 2 consoles) and, well, it displays everything in shiny HD. That's all it has to do, that's what's it doing just fine.

But sure, if you want an 55" plasma monstrosity prepare to pay a metric fuckton of cash, but there are plenty of budget alternatives that do the HD job just fine.

I went to a 23" HD monitor for my computer last year in October, and we bought a 40" (I think) HD TV in May.

Yep, I'm still on SD. It's not that bad. Then again, I have never experienced playing on and HD TV.

I have a 38" SD TV and cant with good conscience throw away a perfectly good TV. When it breaks I'll go HD.
