Still SD here, though more of a budget issue than a choice, rather buy new games than a new sparkly way of playing stuff I've already played a lot. Course when the prices are more reasonable I'll probably take the plunge, just a matter of time :p
I'm in exactly the same position. I would much rather get £200 worth of games than a new tv.

Woah, now I feel lucky, I'm veiwing this on a 32" LG TV, quite capable for PC gaming and small text though it's a TV and not a monitor, on my right is the HannsG 28" monitor also hooked up to the same PC.

Can't imagine why someone wouldn't want HD. Each to their own.....

My HDTV died right about the time I started playing Mass Effect 2, so I was stuck with standard definition for much of the game and it sucked pretty hard. I had a really hard time reading the dialog options to figure out what I wanted Shepard to say.

I don't consider myself to be a graphics whore by any stretch of the imagination, but most modern games are designed specifically to be played in HD, so playing it in SD can be a pain when it comes to trying to read the text and spotting targets in shooters. That why some people would feel they "need" to go HD.

Also, I understand you not being in a rush to get go HD, but why wouldn't you use HD cables when you finally do get an HDTV? That just seems silly to me.

My SD TV is just fine. I don't see a reason to go HD until my SD breaks. That probably won't happen for another 5-6 years. Even then I'll only go HD because I don't have a choice. Probably won't hook anything up with HD cables, though.
Oh yeah I said that too. Then I bought a new HD TV as my old one actually broke, hooked my 360 up on it and eventually bought a PS3 with Uncharted 2 and Watchmen on Blu Ray.

And after playing on an HD TV for quite some time, my brother switched the PS3 from my HD TV to the regular SD TV downstairs for some odd reason a while ago, then played God of War 3 on it.

GOOD. GODS. Doing that to a PS3 should be a criminal offence. The texts weren't even freakin' readable! I'm no graphics whore (playing KotOR and Planescape: Torment on a regular basis proves that) but that was just horrendous!

Not even practical, I can't imagine playing BC2 online effectively on that SD TV. I'd miss so many details that I wouldn't spot nearly as many targets as I would on my HD TV. Every jungle level would be a pure nightmare.
I've never had the problem with small text that everyone seems to be upset about, and I've played most of the games they've mentioned.

I've also played every game I own in HD at a friends and I wasn't impressed. I was actually rather turned off by it. The subtle differences bothered the hell out of me. Especially in games like MW2. Why the hell are their clothes so shiny in HD? Why is everything the same color in HD? There's more grass in some areas, the trees look ridiculously un-realistic compared to SD, and everything is so stupidly shiny.

I play Bad Company 2 without problems on an SDTV. I notice everything and everyone just fine, and all the words are easy to read.

I honestly don't care to ever play in HD again. It actually made my gaming experience worse, and I couldn't be paid to play in HD.

Yeah.

I dont have the cash to spend quite alot of money on a new T.V and re-wiring that a digi-box and about 3 game consoles will take about a day moving fucking wires..

They cost about $30 extra. Paying that much for a wire that changes the way something looks is beyond stupid. The cables with I have now were free, and I can see and read everything with ease.

I don't even like how games look in HD.

If I could afford my own HDTV then I'd have one.
For now though I'm more than happy to play on my SDTV.

I still use an SDTV because there's really no point to upgrading. The only thing an HDTV does is increase the picture quality, nothing else.

I do, I'm too poor to buy an HD-TV all for myself. And even if I did have access to an HD-TV, I wouldn't have the time to go out and buy HD cables for my PS3.

I'm fine with it though, most of the time if I find myself not enjoying the game because of the graphics, it's really because the game's not fun in general.

Woah, that surprises me big time. I've never ever heard someone say that stuff actually looked worse on an HD TV. I mean, all HD TV technically does is just display more stuff, it has about 5 times as much pixels as your average SD TV. I mean just look at this:
That's a clear increase in quality, not even remotely debatable.

As for the ridiculous things in MW2; that's not the TV's fault, that's the game's fault. It's just a shittier looking game than one might think. It's the developer's fault that the trees look like crap, it's their fault that they added ridiculous amounts of bloom on the characters. A TV just shows it all, the developer made the game.

An SD TV just can't display all those things properly, so you don't notice it doesn't look as superb as one had hoped for and while that hides some ugly things of MW2 I've also seen that it hides a huge number of gorgeous things. GoW3 looked more like GoW2 than your average PS3 game on an HD TV.

As for Bad Company 2, you made me curious enough to actually try it out. I fear for the results, Valparaiso is already one helluva clusterfuck on HD, I can't imagine how much madness it must be when everything's blotted together because that bucket can not even display half of the visual information that's being produced by the console. Now it's just a matter of waiting before my parents go on holiday.

I still use SDTV for my wii, and it is perfectly fine.

The PS3 I have my eye on however...

I may need to talk to my parents about the hdtv in the lounge, and when I can use it :D

Surely you could keep the HD cable from your current console? The new 360 has to have an HDMI port, right?

I alternate. My room at home has an SD TV in it, my house at uni has an HD ready TV. Can't say I've had any problems with small text on the SD one, but it's pretty big (for a CRT screen, anyway, and my eyesight is a fair way above average.
I'm home alone for now though, so I've moved the xbox to the larger, HD television in the living room. It's good while it lasts.

I'm of the opinion that graphical quality is the least important aspect of a game. Hence, I see no reason to upgrade to HD when I could use that same money to buy a new console or overclock my PC.

It's hard to read the small text in most games
(Devs: not everyone HAS an HDTV. Please include an option for BIGGER text).
This, seriously. A new tv is next on the list, but until then we have to push our noses to the tv to read anything! So annoying!

Sorry to be a "this"er but it just about sums it up.

I can't see much if any difference between SD and HD so I am not going to blow a load of cash on a almost non existent upgrade.
