I don't know what the grumpy ***** is complaining about, I'm a girl and a bit porky and this game looks like a blast, Maybe it's the name "Fat Princess" Not very creative is it?. Feminists piss me off.

The woman writing that article has no real right to be upset. I'm a little sick of fat people getting indignant when they are mocked or portrayed negatively in the public eye. Now, for the record, I don't really care about a woman's weight--I actually prefer a bit of fat to a girl--but it does bug me when fat people get all up in arms about this. I hate to break it to you, but you're fat for a reason, and more often than not, that reason is because you eat a lot and you don't exercise. Yes, some people have glandular problems or something like that, but being fat is, in general, something that you can avoid if you really want to, usually through diet and exercise. If you don't choose to do either of these things, then stop fucking complaining when people make fun of your immense weight or the rolls of flesh that protrude from your clothing like water desperately escaping a cloth bag.

That fat princess is so cute, even though she does kinda look like the mom from "What's Eating Gilbert Grape". I don't know what the blog chick is all upset about. You think she'd be psyched about a game that promotes chubby chasers and feeders. Double win for her!

Yes, god forbid we actually think about the message, aesthetic content, and cultural context of a game, even if it's just long enough to pause and go "Hmm, okay, it's not actually that sexist"!

Oh, wait, there's a website just for that. It's called the Escapist.

well theres bitching about games and then theres playing them and it seems today more and more people bitching for the sake of bitching, i am all about you havening your own point of view but don't force your views onto people with talk like if you don't think the same as me your a stupid raciest/sexiest,
a game should just be played for fun and be enjoyed if you dont like what you see oh well, i have never sat down and looked at a game for its deep meaning or its message i never stopped whilst playing call of duty and said "oh my god war is wrong..." i feel thats what makes allot of people today into pretentious twats can you imagine people saying mega man 2 has a message that in the future we better watch out or giant fan chested robot will come and kill your family and have sex with all the power outlets

I am anti-feminist. The thing is feminism=/= equality.
Look it up. I'm a feminist guy.

The term "feminism" has several connotations. However most people confuse it with "feminazi", both the mistaken connotation and the term "feminazi" were created by those who disagree with either liberalism or equality, as their needs may be.
Every time I hear someone say they're a feminist they're a feminazi so it's easier to assume when someone says feminist they mean feminazi.

THAT SOUNDS AWESOME!

That's cool. I've not heard many people refer to themselves as feminist, but due to misappropriation of the word (not by you) I take the time to clarify when I can.

The problem with much of the vitriolic positions of pundits and activists is that much of their motivation is based on their personal life. While that's understandable if it is left unchecked (without reasoned critical thinking) it can create a bad public image for an otherwise noble endeavor.

Games can be both. I love that Seaman got me to think about the existentialism. Not for everyone, but then neither is Welcome to the Dollhouse.

I'm glad to see this is turning into more of a discussion than a rant. Some of those earlier posts were atrociously sexist and a little bit stereotypical from a gaming nerd.

Does anyone else still find this wildly amusing?

Just think about it for a moment, think hard about the entire thing, and even when you feel you're looking too deep into it, keep thinking...the humor is there and let me tell you folks it's fucking priceless...

It's a video game. Is Dead rising offensive to zombies? If games weren't racey, I wouldn't play them. Who likes being P.C. all the time, I can do that outside. Thank the makers for the chance to live out a fantasy of mine as being a vengfull fat princess!

I can sort of see where she's coming from in her arguements, having finally read the blog as my browser keeps crashing, but she does forget one thing...

Being overweight is unhealthy and you're less happy, you're slower, you hate the way you look more often and you have more health risks. Implying that people SHOULD be overweight is as bad as saying that people SHOULD be underweight. Though I suppose the counterweight is needed as society is currently in favor of everone being underweight rather than of a good healthy weight.

(from now on i will refer "FAT" as "large" or any other synonyms)

What ticks me off about some of these large "velomtuous" women feminists/feminazis/whatever is that the groups that promote these overweight people say that it's "okay" to be fat and that "you can be whomever you want to be! Beauty is only skin deep!" and all that crap.

It's not that large people are ugly by anymeans, you can be emotionaly beautiful and stuff, it's just that it's not healthy to be overweight. It's not okay to be "voluptuous", it's unhealthy and dangerous.

Instead of helping their self confidence about being "huge", they should help their self confidence to be healthy or atleast try to be healthy. I know about matabolisms and such, but even if yuo have a bad one you can still keep it in control if you excersise and eat right. It won't be easy, but nothing is so stop complaining and get to work.

And for people who are saying "it's just a game!", even games can cross a line somewhere. Does anyone remember "Custer's Revenge"? Or "Gotcha!"? Games have and always will cross a line, and i can understand why some people would be offended (except for the stupid blogers with completely irrelevant facts)

I honestly don't know if i'm answering anything, I'm just randomly saying what comes to my mind now.

AH yes, I forgot that some of those people can convert some of that fat to muscle. They would still look large but it would be much healthier to have some muscle.

but the only thing I can't figure out is why anyone would want to rescue a fat princess in the first place, since everyone knows that fat girls are unlovable human garbage at whom any sensible bloke would sooner hurl invective than cast a longing glance.
well, at least you can admit it you pathetic poor me feel sorry for me because I am overweight...person... It's humor, it's not meant to be insulting. Lighten up for god's sake. Yeah, it's ok to "make fun of"* them because it's something they can change, it's up to them' it's up to them' it's up to them not society, society doesn't give a damn if you were made fun of in junior high because guess what now your 30 something(?) and just pissing and moaning on the internet about it. So, once again, your problem, not ours. If you're fat then yu can at least try to do somethign about it to a least say that you tried. This however is just a lame cop out. You're not unlovable human garbage because you're fat, you're unlovable human garbage because that's the person you are. Society shouldn't dictate anything, anything at all, but sadly that's a truth we have to deal with. People are assholes, get used to it. But not everyone is out to get you or make fun of fat people. They're just trying to have fun and make fun for others. I garentee you that more then one person making hte game is overweight. So, to sum it up SHUT UP.

*That makes it sound worse then it really is

I'm not sure if I'm laughing for the same reason you're laughing, but it can't be too far off...

I can understand why said blogger could be offended, the game mentioning fat people and all, but you can't get all up in flames every time someone says something mean to you, or you'll get nowhere. Teh intrawebs are filled with such sub-human trolls, and at some point you need to learn to regarrd them as such and move on with your life.

what i think is silly is this woman trying to pass her voluntary circumstances as some kind of accidental condition, like she was born with a big nose or something.

this approach, in a way, marginalizes more serious issues like racism.

there is no race of fat people... there are just some people that happen to be fat. pretending that she represents some sort of same minded coalition is just ubsurd and in reality, she isn't fighting for anybody. she's just a bitter arrogant woman who thinks it's easier to change the whole world rather than to change herself.
