Well if you own the land and don't want them on there then call the cops. If they are bothering you though speak to the actually land owner to see if they are legally allowed to be on there, if not then get ready to . . . RELEASE THE HOUNDS!

If you know who owns the land call them and tell them. If the owners of the land don't care then call the police. If the land isn't owned there won't be much you can do about it legally, but do kep an eye out, lock your house securely, make sure none of your valuables are in any place they can be seen or taken easily, and just hope they do something illegal so you can call the police on them anyway. Remember that excessive noise and light are also counted as disruptive, and you can call the police in (at least in Britain you can) to deal with them for the noise.

And also, don't interact. For all you know they could just be passing through and not intending to cause any harm or mischief, or they could be deliberately out to steal things and cause havock, but one way or the other you shouldn't interact, because if you engage them first then the law could be against you.

You two are both American, maybe you've got a different type of gypsy in mind. Obviously these aren't Romany Gypsies, they're basically just the British equivalent of rednecks.

OT: My step dad runs his own garage, but rents it inside a yard owned by people that run a transport thing for school kids and stuff. There's also another guy that rents a garage on the other side of the yard.

Now, the guy who runs the other garage sometimes gets gypsies coming over to him asking him to "borrow" stuff. One time they asked him to borrow something (a mechanical wire thing to put on the car to pull other cars out of ditches or something I think) and he lent it too them.

Naturally, they came back another time asking them to borrow it. This time he said no - not wanting to get into a thing where he just lends it to them all the time, as he has it in the first place because he needs to use it - and the gypsy left. A few hours later, 2 younger guys came along saying he'd seriously upset their Dad. To sum it up, they then strongly implied that unless he gave them what they wanted they'd burn his garage down.

Anyway, they're probably not allowed to be there so call the police and they should move them on. Don't fucking lend them anything though.

I feel your pain dude. Norfolk, UK is full of them. They're the reason theres no road signs out in the countryside. They steal them and sell the metal for god's sake.

OT: You cannot take direct action against them cause theres a million and one loopholes in the law they can exploit, like the the whole assaulting burglars and them suing you type of thing.

Try moving everything expensive upstairs so they'll think you're poor and not worth robbing.
Get a really big dog.
Bug the police and your council about it.
Even better, set up a group to lobby the council for the gypsies eviction.

However gypsies can have their uses. Got any old crap you need to get rid of? Like that old washing machine in the garage or that left-over chickenwire fencing? Who's gonna take that away? The Gyppos!
