Because of Sony's utter lack of backwards compatibility i have decided to buy a ps2. I got Killer 7 on Yahtzee's recommendation at a local games store for $4 brand new, But i need to know some other amazing titles on the system.

Thanks!

On a PS2?

If you don't mind JRPGs then Final Fantasy 10.

Also Crashed (as it's known in Europe) is probably the best demolition derby game I've ever played.

The 60GB PS3 is backwards compatible!

OT: The first 4 Ratchet and Clank games you can't go wrong with!

I was going to say Okami but that's been ported onto the Wii, so not a PS2 exclusive.

Then I was going to say Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, but these are allegedly being ported to the Playstation 3.

So... now I'm out of ideas. But I've recently done the same as you, so I'm going to piggyback your thread and see what everyone has to say too.

Growing up on a PS2 which had a game library that consisted of NOTHING BUT driving games here's my list for you:

Gran Turismo 3 and 4, if you're into racing simulators.
The very first Stuntman was a great arcade driver. The Sequel, Stuntman: Ignition was a disappointment, though.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 was a great arcade-simulator with police chases and all that good stuff in exotic Supercars.

And Finally, the burnout series was a really fun arcade racing game with spectacular crash effects. Burnout 3 being the all-time best of the series.

All the Jak games are pretty good, in my opinion. Ratchet and Clank also deserves another mention.

Don't know if you'd be able to find it, but Digimon Rumble Arena 2 ate up loads of time for what it was. Plus, it's Digimon.
Everybody loves Digimon.

final fantsy x has been mentioned a couple of times but xii is better in my opinon just get both.

Disgea is pretty cool.

Metal gear solid 3 is worth playing, doesn't work on my backwards compatible ps3 for some reason but I've got a ps2 still.

Ico and shadow of collosus are classics

personally I'm playing through the kingdom heart games and final fantasy 8 at the moment and I'd say you should get them too.

my list does't include awesome games you can get newer versions of for ps3 though - like gt4, while a fantastic game ther is gt5 coming along in a couple of months and it's more of the same.

For epic splitscreen epics, get a recent Burnout game (some people prefer 3, others like Takedown) and Star Wars: Battlefront 2.
