So I just got expelled for smelling a girl's hair, or the Quirkyness of The Escapist Community.

Hello, Escapist. We are a community with certain traditions and mannerisms; topics of discussion recur reasonably often, 'the basement' is alluded to every time we gain a new member, and certain turns of phrase have become ingrained in our vernacular. It's nice, it's cosy, it's familiar.
Be it zombie threads, losing your faith in humanity due to an encounter with urine on a toilet-seat or the desire to understand why some people don't like that franchise you like, certain threads and posts can be seen every day on our forums.

So..which little forum habit annoys you the most? I personally hate the whole 'Skynet' scenario, whereby any article about robotics will be bombarded with tired allusions to the Terminator franchise and proclamations of our imminent doom. That sh-t is annoying, and a disservice to roboticists.

Edit: Fixed the thread title, it was far too vague. Hope it worked, sorry about that.

Um what? The title is comepletly off topic and ridiculous.

O.T:The ones complaining about franchises they like that others dislike, by far. Mainly the ones that ignores the fact that people can have opinians.

The ones where the people create a thread with a title that has nothing to do with the OP, or where the title is generally vague or misleading, as it is just a way of getting thread views.

(Oh no I di'n't!)

I don't really understand what's happening; did you smell someone's hair or not?

What is this I don't even...

Personally I don't really care about threads that get remade almost as fast as they die or the recurring jokes that pop up (like the example of robot articles always containing a skynet joke). What irritates me is when there are 5 simultaneous threads on the same goddamn topic. Case in point: the 'rapture' thing today. Also threads with stupid unrelated titles.

On a side note, what is with the double posting for OPs? This is the second cloned thread I've seen inside half an hour.

That was a joke. It just occurred to me that it's the kind of thread title that would have turned up here eventually, but probably in a non-satirical context.

"Recommend me [X]" threads, where someone finds it necessary to ask random people on the internet who don't know them in the slightest to recommend works or genres to them. Mostly this annoys me because apparently using the search function is an arduous and intricate affair.

You're not special, no one is.
I forgot this one. So much loathing.

My God... you're everywhere, all of a sudden...

But seriously, that was kind of the point. In general, the type of thread/title in question is basically just waxing lyrical about 'oh boo-hoo, shit just happened to me'. And the good Squirrel seems not to like it, like the majority of us, and cares perhaps a bit too much for the existence of such threads, unlike the majority of us.

EDIT: And soon there will be threads along the lines of:

SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THE FUCKING RAPTURE!

Why do you hate the Skynet scenario? I'm not saying that it will necessarily be our future, but don't you think that it's okay to ask if AIs would try to take over and what we can do to stop them?

I really hate titles that don't give much information about what the thread is about (that's what the title is for, after all), or that deliberately mislead in order to get people interested (though, to be fair, the escapist news tends to have overly sensationalised titles for news that turns out to be less exciting than promised).

I am disappointed this isn't a silly story about you being caught sniffing a girl's hair. My faith in humanity has been utterly destroyed by you, good sir!

But yeah, the "I've lost faith in humanity!" threads grate faster then someone running a cheese grater across my nipples.

As for posts, nothing really bothers me post wise, apart from the posts of one user whose ego literally knows no bounds. People who know me well know who I mean as I've complained a bit about him before. I've probably given away more there then I intended too but eh, I'm vanishing for four days after this post so I don't care.

And for the record, I like Jack and Calumon's gimmick. It's fun, something which this forum severely lacks at times.
