I actually enjoy leveling up new characters... I had a whole slew of characters of various level I'd played, and one of my favorite aspects of the game was just exploring the various massive environments and doing the low level quests, you know, trying to see things from every perspective. I know I'm pretty much the only one who reads it, but the quest text was actually pretty well written and throughout the game there are a couple interesting storyline for different locations.
It was fun to jump into the games lore and backstory as it actually gave meaning to the locations you visit and a purpose behind the quests you do and the enemies you kill.
But then it seems I'm in the minority here. Quit playing awhile back because I'd pretty much seen everything I wanted to see, but I'll be coming back for Cataclysm.
As for level 80, raiding can be entertaining if you've got a good guild full of people who's company you enjoy, and at one point I did shortly after Burning Crusade came out. Damn fun times, ran SSC, TK, Gruul, Mag, Hyjal and Karazhan more times than I can count, however the constant joking and camaraderie kept it interesting. But once that guild fell apart and I joined a more hardcore guild for a time and... it just wasn't fun. I don't see the appeal of raiding for raidings sake.
I say just take your time and enjoy yourself. But then it seems I'm the minority. Most people are more concerned with getting fancy loot than exploring and enjoying the absolutely massive world Blizzard created. Pity.
