Are you sure that it was a pre-paid game time? Absolutely sure?
I would hate to think that these crooks would saddle you with having to clean up a mess if they used a stolen credit card (people who give these jokers their CC to buy gold with, are you fucking stupid or something?)
Helping people who have been keylogged/phished is one of the better things Blizzard does. Of course if they had made the decision 4 years ago to ban buyers then they might have saved themselves a fortune..but that is hindsight.
Yeah I went and checked my payment history right when I got the account back, it was a world of warcraft 30 prepaid days card from Gamestop.
Great =D
Well in that case, thanks for giving me a chuckle this morning! I am sure some gold selling scum is having a bit of a froth at how unfair it is that he lost his pre-paid card.
Among other things, he also seemed to have had about an extra 6000 gold..and like an additional 2000 gold worth of pets and trade goods. they use your friggin characters as trade bots. Oh, I just went and checked the payment history again, and it actually was listed as "30 day Gamecard (Online Store), 15 bucks. I must have been so tired I misread it. Think its worth contacting blizzard to report that? As much as I love the free month, I would rather pay for it myself then get banned for taking his XD.
Since Blizzard have already done a restoration on you they would have that you have been phished/keylogged on record. Now if that game card was bought as an online code it is very possible that it was done using a stolen CC and that the owner, on spotting the unauthorised charge, will issue a chargeback which means that your game access will be terminated. In theory Blizzard should just ask that you put your own payment on the account and continue as normal. Worst case could be that they issue a demand for the sum that was charged back and won't let you in unless you pay it.
If I was in your place I would phone Billing and talk to someone (I hear that the lines are busy in North American WOW customer services so what you have to do is spam re-dial to get in to the queue and then wait. You can use Skype if you don't have a freephone number where you are or are using a cellphone). Get an idea of what could happen if it was a stolen CC and give yourself peace of mind.
Now I am retired from WoW and played in the EU. But the US customer services are often good for a chuckle and I still go there sometimes (seeing people froth about being banned when they been censured for spamming porn and racism is very funny) and you pick these things up...
